- CaptainPanda, on 07/09/2009, -1/+44Hopefully, this will illustrate to France's politicians how unreliable copyright infringement evidence is.
I doubt it will succeed, though. - merreborn, on 07/10/2009, -0/+43Next up, the owner of a car will be held responsible for any accidents the vehicle may be involved in, regardless of who's driving.
- greevar, on 07/10/2009, -1/+26I'm glad to see that someone has figured out a way to make it known to judicial figures that the evidence they offer against file sharers is flimsy as best and false at worst. The burden should be upon the claimant to prove beyond a reasonable doubt that the defendant committed infringement and not just being the bill payer attached the accused IP.
- minc727, on 07/10/2009, -2/+16It's just a joke

- DarkShroud, on 07/10/2009, -0/+11In short people who have limited understanding of technology should not be allowed author laws governing technology.
- hordespawn, on 07/10/2009, -1/+12"When Prohibition was introduced, I hoped that it would be widely supported by public opinion and the day would soon come when the evil effects of alcohol would be recognized. I have slowly and reluctantly come to believe that this has not been the result. Instead, drinking has generally increased; the speakeasy has replaced the saloon; a vast army of lawbreakers has appeared; many of our best citizens have openly ignored Prohibition; respect for the law has been greatly lessened; and crime has increased to a level never seen before."
- ileftfark, on 07/10/2009, -1/+11Security through obfuscurity. Beautiful.

- Darthyoshiboy, on 07/10/2009, -0/+6If you RTFA you should have caught the part where he said that he got the idea from bloggers, it was a joke back in May when the bloggers posited the idea, but from the sound of it, this guy has made it real.

buried and reported, spammer *****. - nickmas, on 07/10/2009, -0/+2The problem with internet law is that the people who are trying to make them know nothing about technology. To anyone that knows even a little, that proposed law is absolutely ridiculous.
- computershack, on 07/10/2009, -0/+1There speaks a digger who knows ***** all about French politics.

- ptFoe, on 07/10/2009, -1/+2This is great get half of the French population to be struck out. Then the brainless MPAA whore politicians might be held responsible by the public for their douche bag induced laws.

buried and reported, spammer *****. - Fasterthanthou, on 07/10/2009, -1/+1good freakin luck makin these kinds of lawsuits stick. while you can prove beyond a doubt that the IP downloaded the material, you can't say that a particular individual was the person who downloaded it. its only negligence when the owner suspected illegal activities are going on and does nothing about them.
- punchintheface, on 07/10/2009, -0/+0Civil claims in the US can be made against the owner as well as the driver in the US.
- inactive, on 07/10/2009, -1/+1Ah hah, ah hah hah hah, ***** hah.. Maybe Sarkozy needs to remember what happened to that dude in Iraq who started a nice regime.. and in fact all regime starters.. usually doesn't end well for them in the long term.
