- HellifIno, on 03/14/2009, -1/+12Wow, that told me almost nothing. O.o "We're working on it, and we're not gonna do it alone." ...
- copypastry, on 03/14/2009, -0/+5Transparency and co-operation FTW
- str3ama, on 03/14/2009, -0/+5I'm actually quite pleased with HP as a company, they have great customer service - the only downside is that they ad so much bundled crapware with each PC. WIth a new HP computer there's like 100 different things you have to uninstall and remove before you can get it in working condition (I'm not even including Vista).
- eigenweasel, on 03/14/2009, -0/+4I'm impressed that the journalist changed her name to an open-source sound format, but I think 'Erica Vorbis' would have been cooler.
- Notyavgkat, on 03/13/2009, -1/+5sounds like some pretty awesome stuff
- Squonk08, on 03/14/2009, -0/+1I remember the day this discovery was announced, and how a few hours later there was already a mention of it in the Wikipedia article for 'Memristor.' Information moves so fast these days...maybe soon Firefox's spell check will figure out that yes, "memristor" is a word.
I can't wait to see where this technology is headed. The fact that we're still hearing about it a year after the news broke tells me this isn't another of these flash-in-the-pan technologies. - inactive, on 03/14/2009, -0/+1Nanotechnology is going to be the dawn of a new era. Hopefully one of enlightenment, people seem to be resisting it now, even though there is more information available to a person than ever has been before.
- StanleyKoolPrik, on 03/14/2009, -0/+1Yeah, you lost me. Start talking about mammary'istors and you got my full attention.
- Fixion, on 03/14/2009, -0/+1Magnetic ram is already available, as long as you're willing to pay about $26 per 512KBytes (Freescale / Everspin MR2A16A). It's fast, non-volatile, very high density, and almost as fast as SRAM.
http://everspin.com/products.html - kd1s, on 03/14/2009, -0/+1About 7 years ago I had a line in one someone who was at the time working for what was Compaq labs (Compaq was absorbed by HP!).
All of the things he told me about are starting to come to fruition now. 3D displays, SSD, etc. Makes me very interested on what is coming down the pike next, I think flexible OLED displays will make computers very interesting, same too with lasers laying a keyboard on any surface. - otis12, on 03/14/2009, -0/+1Best to invest your money in HP now when stock is cheap.
- Dalfo, on 03/14/2009, -1/+1After the experiences I have had with my laptop I would NEVER climb into a HP time machine.
- WomensUnderwear, on 03/14/2009, -0/+0whatever it is it will be loud, slow and hot and will die one day after warranty expiration. ***** hp and their ***** *****
- inactive, on 03/14/2009, -2/+1This is going to be HUGE!
- TVarmy, on 03/14/2009, -6/+2Yeah, the problem is that HP will pretty much give away the sentient computers, but you'll have to keep buying a cartridge of memristors every month or so... and they're quite expensive.
- inactive, on 03/14/2009, -8/+1Second post bitches! Rememristor that!
