  i don't claim to know much about it, so i could be wrong...
  
  from what i understand this key allows one to copy any retail hd-dvd they have in their possession. it sounds to be quite a bit more complicated than just putting it in the drive and clicking copy. i don't know the exact process, but anyone actually interested and capable should have no problem figuring it out for themselves.

  or
  2. They can allow people to create software which plays (and rips) HD-DVD and blu-Ray discs, allowing people unrestricted access to the content that they've purchased.
