- rebrad, on 10/11/2007, -7/+122You shouldn't have to use a script to do what Digg should do. The new comment system is broken. Digg should fix it.
- ebarras, on 10/11/2007, -12/+71@rebrad I would have just replied to your comment, but then NOBODY WOULD EVER SEE IT. Good stuff.
- inactive, on 10/11/2007, -0/+54I hate web 2.0...plugins for plugins for plugins for plugins...enough already, whatever happened to ***** simplicity?
- DarkDragon, on 10/11/2007, -3/+33There is still the problem that with all the lines and boxes I think I am going to go effing blind =/
- Chompy, on 10/11/2007, -4/+31This system is horrible, FFS change it back. Was "first comment abuse" really that much of a problem?
- Ellsass, on 11/05/2008, -0/+19Now if only they'd fix it so it stops hiding child posts when you bury the parent. There are a *lot* of instances where I bury a parent (usually for something inaccurate or just stupid) then digg up the reply (usually a correction or witty retort).
- Pestilence, on 10/11/2007, -3/+21Switch browsers?? Greasemonkey runs on Firefox. You don't need to switch.
- insomniac8400, on 10/11/2007, -1/+19It basically is. Commenting is no longer easy and pissing people off is much harder.
- greatblackowl, on 10/11/2007, -1/+16There's a greasemonkey script for that, too.
http://digg.com/design/Threaded_Digg_Comments_That_Actually_Look_Nice - Duhitsmichael, on 10/11/2007, -1/+15It still shows me the comments of people I have blocked. >=|
- logic, on 10/11/2007, -5/+19Thanks
- McTendo, on 10/11/2007, -1/+11"there's nothing you can do"
Oh, yes there is. Watch.
*ahem*
Bitch got blocked. - Nougat, on 10/11/2007, -0/+10Doesn't expand buried parents with children. Gotta fix that.
- SenorPez, on 10/11/2007, -0/+9But why can't I reply to Pestilence's comment? Why am I forced to post here because Speed already replied?
DUMB. - bluephoenix, on 10/11/2007, -3/+12Did the story with 5000 diggs get buried? Where did it go?
- inactive, on 10/11/2007, -3/+12Men, when you have to use a script to make a web page do what it have to do you know that the things go wrong...
- euunog, on 10/11/2007, -5/+13Thanks. This makes the new system slightly more bearable.
- flernk, on 10/11/2007, -0/+7Now can someone make a Greasemonkey script that makes the new comments less ugly and take up less room and makes it easier to read comment replies and allows for meaningful dialog and... oh nevermind.
- actorboy, on 10/11/2007, -9/+16Nor should you have to switch browsers to use a script to do what Digg should do.
- Eddible, on 10/11/2007, -0/+7I thought Opera had support for userscripts these days anyway?
- geekologist, on 10/11/2007, -1/+6One less click, one less pain in the ass.
- manticore01, on 10/11/2007, -0/+5After installing both scripts i do eventually get an ok result. Thing is i need to wait for things to refresh twice now before i can see what i want. Come on Digg sort it out please. Also after installing both sripts i cant seem to reply to dark dragon, so the thread just keeps gettin threaded. I think this is to do with the scripts but to put it plainly i cant be arsed to spend more time as i didnt really think the comment system needed a major revamp just support for a few more thread levels.
If it aint broke... dont fix it - joshua5, on 10/11/2007, -1/+5Then he should switch browsers.
- dombrowski, on 10/11/2007, -1/+5Thank god...I'm always looking for ways to waste time more efficiently.
- tw0bit, on 10/11/2007, -0/+4if only digg made a cookie when you hit "comment display options > expand tree" or made it an account option
- mink78, on 10/11/2007, -0/+4I can't reply to him either, when viewing the entire tree with /all at the end of the URL. I can reply to you though, and to TubaTechno below. Hmmmmm
- inactive, on 10/11/2007, -2/+6I dugg this story to let kevin know that digg is BROKEN.
- TubaTechno, on 10/11/2007, -2/+6We should all petition our congressmen and demand that Digg change it!!
- spudnic, on 10/11/2007, -3/+6With this and the other greasemonkey script the comments pages look much, much better
A suggestion for this one though, instead of having it redirect once you click the link, how about having it change the link on the front page to /all, that way it would take less redirects - Salmar, on 10/11/2007, -5/+8@OMGWTFROFLMAOx2
@ebarras
I agree. Keep the comments on the main page ourselves and just throw a @ at them.
Note to Digg: K.I.S.S. - Speed, on 10/11/2007, -2/+5He may not use Firefox. (Not sure why he wouldn't, but whatever)
- AmadelaJake, on 10/11/2007, -0/+3He's using Opera. That's why.
- PorchSong, on 10/11/2007, -2/+5Yeah, no doubt, good job.
- isewise, on 10/11/2007, -0/+3I noticed that too, but there should be a setting in our profile settings that defaults the comments to "expand tree" or "collapse tree" just like there are options about the number of diggs a comment has and whether or not it will show up or not.
- c0ldevil, on 10/11/2007, -1/+4The comment options should be permanently configurable. To the unregistered users, they should keep all the comments expanded by default.
Anyway, just bring back the old comments - kendawg, on 10/11/2007, -0/+3SenorPez, you CAN reply to Pestilence, you just need to find the right box to type into!
- threemagic, on 10/11/2007, -0/+2I'm not good at seeing the future but in this case I'm 100 percent sure of it... there will be a built in setting soon. Probably with other options than just "see all".. I foresee "flat", "nested"... and all the other things other sites have.
That's my prediction... - spudnic, on 10/11/2007, -0/+2I refreshed the page and my comment hadn't been saved, so it ate all my editing time (sigh)
I was going to add a thank you, so, thank you!
Another thing I'd like to see changed is having blocking go back to how it was, I don't just want them burried, I want them gone. No idea why they changed that. - bs0l, on 10/11/2007, -4/+6What they're not telling you is that everytime you view a digg article, it almost takes the same amount of time as it used to. Why? Because everytime you load the page, it has to reload with the scripts you have running. It looks great and all, but I don't want to have to reload a page everytime I want to read some comments?
Plus, the scripts have bugs (digging down a comment glitches show/hide functionality). - lcmatt, on 10/11/2007, -1/+33 Greasemonkey scripts to make Digg viewable (2 for comments and one to show the mirrors), how many more will I need to add? Also you need to fix the anti-aliased text issues.
- louiedog, on 10/11/2007, -0/+2I think this is the first greasemonkey script I've ever installed that didn't add any new features, it just fixed a huge problem. Thanks script author!
- hiPpymIck, on 10/11/2007, -0/+2@invader
i didnt comment on the story from your link because it has a 'perfect five' comments - hella81, on 10/11/2007, -1/+3Okay, that's one.
- rebrad, on 10/11/2007, -0/+2@bluephoenix Digg will give in when it's someone else but doesn't like the heat when it's their own doing.
- jrbrewin, on 10/11/2007, -0/+2just add /all on to the end of your address bar. easy peasy.
it's hardly the end of the world, people. fixing the time it actually takes to post a comment, or the incessant log outs would be a far better use of the dev's time. - Dracker, on 10/11/2007, -0/+2With my fix, If the story has "page" in the title, the script won't activate and you'd have to show all comments manually.
Better than not being able to view anything but the first page of news. - lhnz, on 10/11/2007, -0/+2lol? Tubes?
- zand, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1but it works in Opera too
- lharboe, on 05/01/2009, -0/+1Why can't they call it a vine rather then a tree?
- plagiats, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1Argh, wrong. Ok so to fix that you can check if there is an element with id="c-options" and if so redirect to /all
