Dear Digg,
The thumbs up button is broken
Thanks - jr93087, on 04/19/2008, -20/+178I don't find this at all surprising...A company should constantly be looking for a better way to serve its customers
- falconer, on 04/19/2008, -1/+129I think this might have been a clever plan to get everyone to hit the thumbs-up button...
- inactive, on 04/19/2008, -9/+92The thumbs down button still seems to work though.
- inactive, on 04/19/2008, -6/+74Yes.

- Tamant, on 04/19/2008, -6/+12Maybe "users" or "supporters" would be more correct? word nazi's..lol
- Dobby156, on 04/19/2008, -1/+7well you just commented, and you not the first.
- Cattywampus, on 04/19/2008, -2/+8I don't know that they're hiding anything, I'd guess that they're trying to a) tweak the algorithm to give more accurate results and b) throw off people who seek to game the system by manipulating keywords, etc. to draw more attention to their sites, even though they may be spam sites.
Tweaking the formula 450 times in one year does sound like a lot, though. - inactive, on 04/19/2008, -1/+6No, it means they are constantly looking for ways to improve. You a glass half-empty kind of guy?
- inactive, on 04/19/2008, -0/+4What about funeral homes?
- xDynaBlade, on 04/20/2008, -1/+5I've never seen so many stupid comments on one story before..
- KaiUno, on 04/19/2008, -0/+4Yeah, I should've googled it first.
- Agreb91, on 04/20/2008, -1/+4I really don't find that surprising either since Google needs to keeps results accurate and better than other search engines out there.

- dming, on 04/19/2008, -3/+4Well advertisement companies wouldn't make much money if there are no users to Google... so yeah indirectly we are their customers, and probably the most important one at that.
- OrangeSoda31, on 04/21/2008, -0/+1Am I supposed to be looking at a missing image?

- diggpulp, on 04/19/2008, -0/+0how Google's algorithm works:
http://www.google.com/technology/pigeonrank.html - KibibyteBrain, on 04/19/2008, -2/+2It is a fairly strange relationship to have the user and the payer be different people. The only other business models I can think of similar to this would be office supplies/furniture or toys for children, marketed to the kids product feature wise but marketed price wise and education value wise to parents. Even television, radio, and print media are different as they have multiple revenue streams and have publicly regulated content/licenses.
