- inactive, on 02/22/2008, -3/+38Damn, now will youitube and google videos now have those commercials you have to watch before the video? this sucks.
- Gabberwok, on 02/22/2008, -2/+25Great, some more ads for me to ignore...
- doshindude, on 02/22/2008, -2/+22Ads in videos now? come on, that's why I stopped watching TV!
- wild, on 02/22/2008, -3/+16People will just got to other sites if it is any more than five seconds.
- kmg9000, on 02/22/2008, -2/+10And all those things you like are paid for by these ads
- ekso, on 02/22/2008, -1/+9No, you won't:
http://www.google.com/ads/videoadsolutions/demos.h ... - str3ama, on 02/22/2008, -1/+8it's going to increase video spam, now Digg will be barraged with reposts of Videos only now with the Google ads inserted.
- ekso, on 02/22/2008, -0/+6Demos of Google Video AdSense here:
http://www.google.com/ads/videoadsolutions/demos.h ... - otis12, on 02/22/2008, -2/+8This is going to suck ass.
- orangetiki, on 02/22/2008, -0/+6P.S. Could you at LEAST letterbox the video so the ad doesn't cover up the video? That I think is the most annoying part.
- CAPITALLETTERS, on 02/22/2008, -0/+6I'm currently working on a way to block these adverts by replacing the YouTube video player with a custom one using a Greasemonkey script.
- Plasmatica, on 02/22/2008, -1/+5I like the text overlay ads more. They're not that distracting. But it's going to be a pain in the ass if Adblock keeps blocking the videos.
- Typhoon2009, on 02/22/2008, -0/+4YouTube has had these for a while now. If they're implemented as I've seen them before, they're usually just a small little ad that runs for a few seconds at the bottom of the video. I only saw it on the official music video of some Killswitch Engage song... wasn't too bothersome. I'm fairly certain they'll mostly, if not solely, appear on things like official music videos, etc.
- theaceoffire, on 02/22/2008, -3/+7Dang it, can't see any of em. CURSE YOU AD-BLOCK!
- RealmDown, on 02/22/2008, -3/+7I'll just get pissed and stay away.
It'll actually free up more of my life.
Do I thank them or not? - talonstriker, on 02/22/2008, -0/+3Its really funny how they have the little "ad" button on the bottom right--as though someone would want to see the ad over again.
- Daniel591992, on 02/22/2008, -2/+5It's not that big of a deal.
Look at the examples:
http://www.google.com/ads/videoadsolutions/demos.h ... - zioxide, on 02/22/2008, -0/+3Hasn't Youtube already started rolling this out? I've seen it on some videos before, but it's fairly random. It doesn't really bother me. If a lower-third for 10 seconds keeps everything free, I think it's fine.
- ThatGeek, on 02/22/2008, -0/+2to see those, make sure you turn off ABP
- YojimboJango, on 02/22/2008, -0/+2You assume that people that are putting wide screen content up won't just move the video up to the top of the frame so nothing is covered. The community will adapt and fix even these small inconveniences.
People are getting all bent out of shape about this and it's really not a big deal. - spyd3rweb, on 02/22/2008, -1/+3What happened to just being a search engine, seems now like their more of an advertising company.
- peestandingup, on 02/22/2008, -1/+3Umm, how about making your videos not look like a pixelated turd first, Google??
- VinnieDaMac, on 02/22/2008, -0/+2It better be the ones that appear at the bottom of the video, out of the way, and have no sound. Those ads that appear before every video for 15 or 30 secs EACH time are VERY annoying.
- KloroFormd, on 02/22/2008, -0/+2Flawless Victory
- Waterrat, on 02/22/2008, -0/+1 Sure there is. They are already making money with all he ads they have now. It's just a case of pure unadulterated greed.
- inactive, on 02/22/2008, -0/+1Like what? Come on...back up that statement with examples. You are implying it happens all hte time, so come up with just 2 examples of that happening. And it can't be a site that turned to a pay stite. Becuase watching a short ad is not the same as having to pay a subscription fee.
- JNudda, on 02/22/2008, -0/+1Probably not a good idea. I've noticed that when adblock blocks video ads that appear before videos, it prevents the video you want to see from playing.
- Waterrat, on 02/22/2008, -0/+1 It won't be 30 seconds for long...Soon it will just as bad as TV.
- JNudda, on 02/22/2008, -0/+1It's called revenue. aka money.
- inactive, on 02/22/2008, -1/+2Yeah...you are smarter than Google's people who spent months doing market research to know that people WON'T search for the video on another site rather than watch a few second ad.
- FluffyWolf, on 02/23/2008, -0/+1Why do you make up stuff, when you obviously don't know *****? The smarter approach when you are clueless is to sit back and learn or ask questions instead of lying.
- Servebot, on 02/22/2008, -0/+1learn 2 reply
- Waterrat, on 02/22/2008, -0/+1 But not everybody uses ad block...Even when I didn't have ad block (before FF existed) I still didn't click on ads. When ads came on TV I'd hit mute and do something else.
I don't like ad mongers telling me what to do,never have, never will.
They make plenty of money as is,but are never satisfied, must make more and more and more..It matters not how much we annoy our viewership,we must have more money! - Waterrat, on 02/22/2008, -0/+1 To them, the content is not important, the ad IS the content and it's the ad they care a bout..They don't give a sparrow fart that we don't care about the ad.
TV is the same way. - Daniel591992, on 02/23/2008, -0/+1It starts about 3/4 of the way through the video.
- Waterrat, on 02/22/2008, -0/+1How do you ad this to adblock?
- thunder7, on 02/23/2008, -0/+1I guess they do not get it. that is why we all went to the net in the first place no ADS!.
HELLO! No ads.
But Thank Good Some great Hackers will figure a work around and there will be "NO" ads. - inactive, on 02/22/2008, -1/+2I can't see them. Thank you NoScript!
- BillDoE, on 02/22/2008, -1/+2Oh yes I just love it when some add comes on and covers 1/4 of the screen. It's almost as awesome as the scroll/giant logo they use on CNN. Especially when they are talking about the part of the video that is totally covered up.
- xburgermoo, on 02/22/2008, -0/+1that url didn't work ... try that http://youtube.com/watch?v=hVtnSB3CQSQ vs http://yuxt.it/http://youtube.com/watch?v=hVtnSB3C ...
- Waterrat, on 02/22/2008, -0/+1 Like there are not enough bleedin ads already?
How many more do they need to be happy?
Are they never satisfied?
Eventually it's going to be nothing but ads...You will have toi watch 20 minutes of ads to get to a website. - YojimboJango, on 02/22/2008, -0/+1Holy crap people as dumb as you do exist. Google has always been an advertising company.
- YojimboJango, on 02/22/2008, -1/+2That is generally how ad sense works. It wouldn't surprise me to see Google offering kickbacks to people that have a high ratio of clicks per view.
- YojimboJango, on 02/22/2008, -0/+1Perhaps this is in Googles plan? YouTube was bleeding out millions every month back when Google bought them. Toning down the popularity of their service is a money making move, and adding ads to the videos is another money making move. I
I wouldn't be too sure that there's going to be that many companies lining up to pay millions in bandwidth costs so you can have your free video. - thetin, on 02/23/2008, -0/+1Please google...Stop!
Here use http://iCantThinkofBetterName.com and make a new product! - Waterrat, on 02/22/2008, -0/+1 Yeah, just how stupid do they think we are? I didn't want to see it the first time, why would I want to see it again?
- Waterrat, on 02/22/2008, -0/+1 As did I..More than half of a hour program is now ads...It's no longer worth bothering with...The sci fi channel is especially bad...
Me and several friends have started buying DVD's of stuff we like so we don't have to deal with commercials. - madhatter349, on 02/22/2008, -0/+1Curiously isn't that Simpsons video that google is using copyrighted. I was surprised that they used that to demo there new ads.
- thehelpingsite, on 02/22/2008, -0/+1Until someone comes up with the next brilliant strategy that trumps Google, I hate to say it folks, it's here to stay. At least they're not charging you for it.
