- heyimfromreddit, on 06/14/2009, -1/+12Before the "BURIED FOR TWITTER. I DONT NEED TO KNOW WHAT SELF-IMPORTANT NARCISSISTIC DOUCHEBAGS ARE DOING ALL THE TIME." comments arrive – by people who have clearly never used Twitter for more than 5 minutes, I'd like to say that many of us use Twitter like a two-way RSS feed.
I rarely "tweet" anything. I follow a few sites, and a few designers/developers and its great, and I much prefer it to RSS.
Some people just don't "get" Twitter, and assume its just like Facebook statuses, but for me it's somewhat like a cross between IM/RSS/Blogs/Message boards, only it's limited to 140 characters, so everything is short and straight to point.
It's also great for finding what's happening RIGHT NOW. Nothing else on the internet can really match that, and this is why Google is so interested. - Chooxo, on 06/14/2009, -0/+7"Live-blog in real time"
I give up. - heyimfromreddit, on 06/14/2009, -0/+6eleven
- BrandonJM, on 06/13/2009, -1/+6Just pointing out: RWW and Mashable reported on the same story, RWW named their source and went deeper than "Oh hey, we read it on this unofficial blog, so it's gotta be true". That's why I dugg it and buried the other one.
- EnTaroTassadar, on 06/14/2009, -2/+6Since Twitter is the only microblogging site anybody actually uses anymore, why do we need another search.twitter.com?
Seems like a waste of Google's resources, really. - one504, on 06/14/2009, -0/+3One hopes it might be at least a little better than their blog search.
- gcnaddict, on 06/14/2009, -2/+5No offense, but Twitter runs Twitter, and because Twitter also runs their own search capabilities, I have a very hard time believing Google can do a better job searching Twitter than Twitter can.
- Misinformant, on 06/14/2009, -4/+7I guess if anyone is in dire need of finding useless information in 140 characters or less...
- RPGmaster, on 06/14/2009, -0/+2Yeah, and not just add support for Laconica based sites but also Plurk, Jaiku, and other micro-blogging sites (even though I only use identi.ca and Twitter :P).
- gungaroo22, on 06/14/2009, -1/+3Have you? How many of them have turned their projects into high value well known social web apps?
- Junkyarddawg, on 06/14/2009, -0/+2I seriously don't know how I have survived without an ability to search for tweets from, say, the 3rd of June 2007, or find all tweets about shopping for shoes. I would probably use this function to search for information almost as often as I use the Google Groups search.
- ultrafez, on 06/14/2009, -0/+2I'm not quite sure whether that was sarcasm or not.

Why when we have one already ?
Its called Twitter . - MooseOfReason, on 06/14/2009, -1/+2Thanks, Google, but Twitter already allows me to waste my time reading random bits of garbage without the need to go searching for it.
- linagee, on 06/14/2009, -2/+3Just goes to show you how simple Twitter is. Try replicating google's search engine. You'd need a hundred coders and a couple thousand servers at least. Try replicating Twitter. You'd need a simple script that posts 140 bytes of text into a database and retrieves it out when people go to your twitter page. I've seen CS students do more complex projects.
- beggersfunk, on 06/14/2009, -0/+1Couldn't agree more. I am doing the same thing as well.
- KaivenTor, on 06/14/2009, -1/+2Sounds like it's worth a shot if Google can combine more enhanced searching techniques in with the results. I'd like think that if they do this they'll eventually tie it into more than Twitter (Maybe start with Laconica as well?). Plus there's always the possibility of combining popular tweets into regular search results or maybe coming up with a more sturdy way to use microblogging for news information (Like checking multiple tweets on subject matters to compile information into a singular data sheet by algorithm).
- BrendanSheehan, on 06/14/2009, -0/+1Google says Twitter is poor man's e-mail. Somehow I think this proves they are afraid of Twitter. Just make them an offer and be done with it.
- KaivenTor, on 06/14/2009, -0/+1@Junkyarddawg: Depends on how they're integrated. If information can be verified, they could be a compiled search result or used to enhance searches made on extremely current events. I'm not talking about static terms like "movie" or "piracy", but more like "Iranian Election" or something really current. We're not talking about a large amount of screen real estate either.
Sometimes, you have to have some imagination to figure out if you can make something better than it currently is. If you like the current search model, fine, but there's still always some way to add more relevent data or improve the results. Try to keep an open mind. - thesoapnuts, on 07/18/2009, -0/+1Great info. http://www.freeplant.net/
- MrGeorgeBrown, on 08/13/2009, -0/+1Nice, but how will this effect both the social network marketers out there and the SEO teams? We shall see soon
- worbd, on 06/15/2009, -0/+1I find the separate blog search useful. It's always nice to see what the "people" are saying about stuff that's going on.
- inactive, on 06/14/2009, -0/+0Ugh, I'm getting really sick of the Google Borg.
- quomen, on 06/14/2009, -1/+1site:www.twitter.com [query here]
not good enough? - hdrkid, on 06/14/2009, -1/+1Finally, I was waiting for jaiku to wake up, awesome...
- masykur, on 07/01/2009, -0/+0i agree with you
http://stopdreamingstartaction.almuhsin.or.id - Junkyarddawg, on 06/14/2009, -1/+1Incorporating twatter hits into the regular search would at least be a very good way to kill the usefulness of Google.
- inactive, on 07/18/2009, -0/+0Google is the top ten entity from China to USA.
http://lacaidadepelo.com - pthubcouk, on 07/17/2009, -0/+0again Google jumping on the bandwagon - they cant come up with there own ideas!
- GrimReeper, on 06/14/2009, -2/+1If you use that logic how do you explain Google doing a better job searching Digg than Digg?
- Zcrubby, on 06/14/2009, -2/+1Or how google is doing a better job searching piratebay than piratebay.
- EverybodyPanic, on 06/14/2009, -3/+1Google is a front company for the NSA collecting all our personal details.
