- Peach3s, on 07/22/2009, -7/+133vat does it do?
- Rudymoman, on 07/21/2009, -9/+133Microsoft isn't gonna like this very much.
- Innuendo24, on 07/22/2009, -6/+103This is far and away my most anticipated thing google has designed in years. I simply can not wait for this service.
- Sess, on 07/22/2009, -5/+79Wonder how long the "beta" tag is going to be placed on this project.
- HentaiJeff, on 07/22/2009, -4/+73I'm not waiting and it's awesome!
- MtheoryX, on 07/22/2009, -0/+67Live email, live document sharing and editing, wiki, authenticated access... pretty much everything you can think of rolled into a package that you can even HOST ON YOUR OWN SERVER, and share with 1 or 10,000 people.
In summary, it's like Applewood smoked bacon dipped in liquid awesome. - ConfusedCartman, on 07/22/2009, -1/+63Try this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Itc4253kjhw
It's ten minutes long - the best I could find that had both all of the important information and short enough to be endurable. - seanieb, on 07/22/2009, -1/+43For those that don't know. Google Wave is like Gmail, Google Docs and Goggle chat all rolled together......and on crack!
- ConfusedCartman, on 07/22/2009, -0/+40This is a valid question - not sure why you're getting dugg down. Anyway, here's the official unveiling (it's an hour and change long): http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=v_UyVmITiYQ
You could also head to wave.google.com and watch the youtube video embedded in the page. - hardeep1singh, on 07/22/2009, -4/+42This is probably going to be Google's best product ever, it as the potential to change the way email works. It may not happen in the near future but I'd love to see this working straight from MS Outlook.
- Soave, on 07/22/2009, -6/+33Still waiting on Google Voice!
- Peach3s, on 07/22/2009, -2/+29can i get a 2 minute condensed summary?
- Dotcommer, on 07/22/2009, -1/+27I have such a google hard on right now...
- Stap1eGun, on 07/22/2009, -0/+26It let you have conversations, store those conversations, and share those conversations with people you chose. It also has a lot of really cool features like drag and drop pictures to other people, or collabritive editing in real time of documents, similar to a wiki. It will also be open source eventually and has an easy API for creating extensions.
Think of it as a mix between instant messanger, email, and a little bit of social network all in one. - MtheoryX, on 07/22/2009, -0/+22...and dipped in bacon-flavored awesome.
- Reddog_x2000, on 07/22/2009, -3/+21Wait until the furor over Wave is subsiding. At that point Microsoft will come out with an awkwardly named knockoff that will be about 1/3 as good. And, it'll have the extra, added bonus "Feature" of proprietary standards that will make it completely incompatible with Wave. People will take one look and stay away in droves.
MS will then spend 5 years and millions of dollars promoting it and probably find a way to be sued by the EU in the process. - l800LEMMINGS, on 07/22/2009, -1/+18i wonder if it was pointless signing up for the early beta last month?
- hardeep1singh, on 07/22/2009, -0/+17They'll have to get rid of it quick to get corporates to use it. Like it happened with Chrome.
- sonofabiscuit, on 07/22/2009, -0/+14Two words: Live Email.
- Waaaaalt, on 07/22/2009, -0/+14I'm looking for one vowel that summarizes the entire concept. Can someone help me out?
- calon9, on 07/22/2009, -1/+15Can someone sum it up in a single word for me?
- alpha88, on 07/22/2009, -0/+13They don't so much track, as they record the last 5 IP addresses.
- MtheoryX, on 07/22/2009, -0/+12Yahoo will spend 12.5 years trying to launch a competitor... and when it finally does, it will simply be and ad-laden wrapper around a self hosted version of Google Wave.
- CrimsonBlur, on 07/22/2009, -2/+14Google Voice exists because they acquired GrandCentral. Why is it cool when Google does it, and evil when MS does it?
- DaviDTC, on 07/22/2009, -0/+11wiki(email + IM) + instant spell check + instant grammar check + instant translator + a lot more cool features. Check out the 10 min condensed video
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Itc4253kjhw - mikeabundo, on 07/22/2009, -1/+11Ballmer's going to need more chairs.
- snupples, on 07/22/2009, -0/+10wow, you're a real visionary.
- 4rp4n3t, on 07/22/2009, -1/+11Did someone just say 'Android'?
- MWeather, on 07/22/2009, -1/+11Wave is as minimalist as you want it to be.
- nubtard, on 07/22/2009, -0/+10email took a long time for people to adopt. I hope it replaces email.
- Konrad9, on 07/22/2009, -0/+10Just wish I had a something that supported a google voice app so I could use it on the go.
- bkripper, on 07/22/2009, -0/+9Release Candidate expected 2512.
- SteveRyherd, on 07/22/2009, -1/+10I'm in the sandbox right now. It's very prone to crashing Firefox and IE. That conversations are too dense (everyone's on the same distribution list). But I can see the usefulness of the concept. It does already have a nice mobile interface though. Works fairly well on the iphone.
http://img20.imageshack.us/img20/5067/googlewave.p ... - airmann90, on 07/22/2009, -2/+11Please go away.
- inactive, on 07/22/2009, -1/+10Can someone just quickly sum it up into a few short sentences??
- Drazzim12, on 07/22/2009, -0/+9Google.
- brim4brim, on 07/22/2009, -2/+10Bing isn't a bad search engine TBH. It is useful if looking for reviews, better than google for me.
Other than that it returns the same results so who cares?
But googles searches for reviews usually lead to no reviews yet on a buy this item page which is worthless. - optionshiftk, on 07/22/2009, -0/+8I'm not a developer, but I tired to get a dev preview...no response. It's quite exciting that I'll be able to test it out this sept.
- mrbysh, on 07/22/2009, -1/+9can a person provide a version in a single sentence?
- iChopPryde, on 07/22/2009, -2/+10I just got my invite today :) was so excited when I received that email got it about an hour ago hehe
- MtheoryX, on 07/22/2009, -0/+8They already have a version that is dumbed down enough... it's called Gmail.
- inactive, on 07/22/2009, -1/+9Live Email... that sums it up pretty well, actually. I think I'd choose three words though. "Live Advanced Email"?
- DaviDTC, on 07/22/2009, -0/+8Did you check out the video? They show small demos in there. It is really worth it to watch the hour+ long video.
- keozen, on 07/22/2009, -0/+8I got an invite out of the blue yesterday only to go to sign up properly and be told that it wasn't available in my country yet (uk). It says I'm in the UK on my account Google, why even invite me if I can't join up, way to ***** tease.
- bobertoq, on 07/22/2009, -1/+8"In addition to the developers already using Wave, we will invite groups of users from the hundreds of thousands who offered to help report bugs when they signed up on wave.google.com."
Yes! I was one of those people. Let's hope I get invited. B-) - bullox, on 07/22/2009, -0/+7Guys, if someone could just use a single pixel to tell us all about this new development, that would be great.
- 4degrees, on 07/22/2009, -0/+7ride the walrus.
- princeofhb, on 07/22/2009, -0/+7I'm hoping it's adopted by Apple and Microsoft quickly and integrated into the major email clients. We need a better method of emailing/messaging badly! The fact that we're still using simple pop and imap is retarded.
- kitsua, on 07/22/2009, -0/+7It actually looks like a natural evolution of email and suddenly makes you think of the shortcomings of that service. I'm really looking forward to it as well.
The only problem will be getting people to switch, which will only happen if they make the transition natural and hassle-free. - MWeather, on 07/22/2009, -0/+7"Apparently the people in the various presentations don't want it to be very minimalist, then."
Yeah, that's generally not a very effective way of highlighting features. -
