- JoeParanoid, on 07/10/2009, -1/+259Tesla was one bad ass scientist.
- Surferess, on 07/10/2009, -8/+235I like it!
- kemp34, on 07/10/2009, -0/+176It is amazing how little attention American education has paid to Tesla over the past century. You hear about Edison almost non-stop, but I had not even come across Tesla (aside from the label of his name on the physical concept) until I was out of the formal "education" centers.
- inkswamp, on 07/10/2009, -10/+155And Bing is celebrating this event by continuing to suck.

- Ustanik, on 07/10/2009, -1/+101Well played sir, well played
- SpeedSteamBoat, on 07/10/2009, -0/+95Considering he is largely responsible for the development of most of the devices which run the AC grid as well as the AC electric motor which you'll find in untold numbers of household appliances and now cars, it's certainly shocking that I had never even heard of Tesla until I stumbled across a biography my sophomore year of high-school.
Yet, we talked for hours on end about Edison, a man who made his fortune by stealing ideas from others and was essentially totally ignorant of even basic scientific principles. Edison, famous for the light-bulb he did not invent but rather "improved", was the reason that it took so long for an electrical standard to come about. He used all the money and influence he had to push the inferior DC system because he owned the patents to the DC system. He designed the electric chair to use AC power as a vicious PR move against Westinghouse. He had his staff do long, horrible "tests" electrocuting horses and other animals with AC in front of journalists to create the perception that AC was dangerous, even deadly. He was responsible for creating one of the first standards wars in AC v. DC. I'm convinced the man was a miserable, greedy, self absorbed person. It seems any good he did for the world was largely a coincidence of his making sure he got his piece of the pie (and that everyone knew it had his name on it!).
It's a cruel irony that simply because Edison's celebrity lives on people still talk about how great it is that he "invented" the light bulb. Meanwhile, the brainchild of Nikola Tesla hums silently in the background making all those bulbs worth owning and no one seems to think he's worth mentioning. - ar1c3, on 07/10/2009, -1/+78I am going to play some red alert today!
- RATNIK, on 07/10/2009, -3/+71if he gets the credit he deserves, 90% of the companies that make anything electrical will lose their patent rights lol. That's why the govt is hesitant to release his inventions...
- jake1337, on 07/10/2009, -0/+65Edison was a dick.
- cygnus2112, on 07/10/2009, -0/+58I shall don my Tesla Armor and Helm while perusing my copy of "Nikola Tesla and You" today in commemoration.

- SneakyNinja, on 07/10/2009, -2/+24I haven't seen it at all. I use iGoogle, and frequently miss out on these. I don't know that it's digg worthy, but I'm glad I got to see it.
- realmadrid2727, on 07/10/2009, -3/+23He's got a unit of measurement named after him (the tesla, T) which is awesome in its own right. Does Edison? Does Marconi? No.
Sure, he may not be as mainstream as Einstein, Newton, or Edison in the "scientists that changed our world forever" category to the general public, but he still has his notoriety. The only problem is a bunch of quacks and new age charlatans have made up/warped his inventions into pseudo-scientific nonsense. - Asrrin29, on 07/11/2009, -0/+20Um, I don't know if you guys actually clicked the image or not, but it brings up some stupid ***** about hackers and anti-full-disclosure.
