http://googleblog.blogspot.com/2006/01/new-year-new-imagery.html - Spookster, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0The UK imaging on Google Earth was updated a couple of months ago.
See this posting in the Google Earth forum: http://bbs.keyhole.com/ubb/showthreaded.php/Cat/0/Number/219154/an/latest/page/0#219154 - rnelsonee, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0This update happened a while ago (a month?), so those that are interested, some US cities have been updates as well. Such as Boston and New York City.
- ifonly, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0pfft
"We are sorry, but we don't have imagery at this zoom level for this region", they havent updated my area! - Thorpe, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Why did that story link to my town (Ashford)? Weird.
- hollerith, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0This is total BS. I STILL have a car park beside my house which was removed two years ago.
- energyblue, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0cut out ALL of my city (Hedge End).
You've got to remeber that sometimes they can't because of air traffic control. - reisyboy, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Dude i can see my house OH YEH!:) lol
- Focdwdc, on 05/11/2008, -0/+0Nice aerial photography..
Also see http://www.ukaerialphotos.com for matching postwar photos of the same locations..interesting to see how the UK has changed - neave, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1Google have updated their Google Local imagery to match the imagery on Google Earth. *Shameless plug*... I've update Flash Earth to include the improved imagery, along with Windows Local Live's new imagery: http://www.flashearth.com/
- psyon, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0DOH! I always miss the obvious!
- Grogtron, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1A minor point... Those are plane photos, not satelite.
- blowdart, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0In Henley you can see where the load stops :)

I live in the blur. - ThisGeek, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0That is a hell of a lot better. It's a good year old though, the trees I had cut down in my garden are still there. :)
- kdx77, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Nah, its at least 4 years old ! I can clearly see the previous home owners car out in the parking bay.
- JaffoCake, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0More of the local area round here is now showing at higher res but the images are now older than they were before (some of the roads are different and my brother's house extension now seems to have gone!). Greater Manchester btw.
- GreenAlien, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Yep, I installed Google Earth on a friends laptop about a week ago, and their house was fuzzy. I just checked out Google Earth on my laptop and it's much clearer now. I had previously noticed that Google Maps gave better images than Google Earth - so looks like they've synced the two (at least for the UK). Checked a couple of other locations which were fuzzy and they look fine too now. I also see they sorted out Birmingham (before there was essentially a line drawn down the city centre, right side was fine and left side was fuzzy).
TIP: clear your disk cache first (Tools > Options > Cache > Clear disk cache) to clear out all the cached fuzzy images. - cnt2infinity, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I can see the pub from ere!
- TimRogers, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Nice, my house is actually visible now!
- MacLeod, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Yeah the image 'update' is actually old. In Aberdeen there is an area called Grand Holme village, and it's not ever there - so it must be around 4 years old!
- Mundo, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Lowestoft is still Lame (NR33 area). Infact, I don't even think it's been touched. Can barley make out a road. I can't wait until they have the whole world complete though, it will be super cool.
- Kingy, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0http://www.google.co.uk/lochp?hl=en&t=k&ll=51.500345,-0.123886&spn=0.001197,0.0025&t=k
The world's most exclusive car park? - JohnP, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0 psyon, the giant dragonfly just took off from the water.. Isnt it obvious...? GOD!
- neave, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0The update just means more, higher resolution imagery. But some of it is actually older than the stuff they replaced... so it's either old, higher resolution or newer, lower resolution imagery!
Either way, I can't complain... - oracleredux, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Excellent - I can finally see that imagery of my house that multimap used to offer for free all those years ago and then withdrew. Hadn't thought to check Google Earth for a while.
- catoutfit, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0nice to see Brighton still looks like s****
http://www.google.co.uk/lochp?hl=en&ll=51.501548,-0.141382&spn=0.001067,0.001829&t=k
I hate the way Brighton's urban and suburban areas look like terrible, but some random fields a few miles west are hi res...what is the point in that? - CarsonCoots, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I sthat a string in the trees? What is that? http://www.google.co.uk/lochp?hl=en&t=k&ll=52.064048,0.144737&spn=0.001118,0.002516&t=k
- *Ica*, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Awesome, can see my house! I dont even live in a large town/city. Pretty good.
- hiro, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Ha, I was right, the window cleaner did break that roof tile
- trimsheenapple, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Yeah the coverage of Ireland is well *****. Belfast looks the best of the major cities. Just another example of Google prejudice against my people. If they wanna a fight, I'll give it to them, *****.
- TheRappingShoe, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I can see my house from here! :D
Yeah, the pics of my house in Leeds are at least two years old. - noamsml, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0There's also a new source for images, if you look atthe bottom right corner of the map it will tell you that the images are from "the geoinformation group", and not DigitalGlobe, as are the pics from the US.
- sjetha, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0doctorlan, all I can see is the shadow of some trees, and what appears to be a golf course.
That's zooming all the way in on the link you gave.
Is there something else we should be looking for? - snugsoho, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0My area is still a greeny browny blury mess... :(
