- rancemo, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4Are they inviting 1337 or 400 people? 1337 seems like a weird number. Who cares how many people they invite?
- notkevin, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2What ever it is, I am sure they will only release the beta.
- nilsth, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Chief Clancy Wiggum: "Ralph, what is it with your facination with my 'Forbidden Closet of Mystery'?"
- Sferrero, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2They obviously do not expect 400 people to keep the secret.
This sounds like marketing to me, Hey there is this super secret awesome thing we are doing. whatever you do dont tell "anybody".
reverse psychology? - Double-Z, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1The new Googlepad will have "Don't Panic" on the cover.
- kungfustickman, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Since when was secrecy a part of Google... That would be great if it was Google OS. I think I would cry with happiness.
- webagogue, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1"Why must you people write words using numbers!? It's elite dammit! E-L-I-T-E!"
'cause elite ain't 1337. - Tobey, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Why must you people write words using numbers!? It's elite dammit! E-L-I-T-E!
...carry on. - billpoly, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1DUPE! And I only care because I posted a copy of this story! :D
Who cares - it's interesting news. +1 digg from me anyway. - blhack, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1this is so very bizarre to me.....like they can't keep a secret or something? WTF? This remindss me of when i was a little kid and i knew somethiing cool but i wasn't supposed to say anything, so i would just tell like, a FEEW of my really close friends and tell them not to tell anybody....but afterr i opened up a little i would just start telling randomm peoplee, and telling themm not to tell anyone.. lol, google are such dorks! I'm guessing either google wwifi, google ISP, or google OS. Probablly google OS. Either that or they tell everyone that secretly they have been gathering all of our information (gmail, google talk, searchesss, google earth, etc etc...US being geeks) and now plan to use our secrets to blackmail us iiiinnto programming kkilleerr monkeys to replac the navy's Dolphiiins they lost. lol...
/sorry bout the mest up spellliiiiiing and stuff, i'm installing gentoo right noww and knoppix tendss to break things, like my keeyboard lol. - mancat, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1"Just like the Segway did!"
Haha nice quip. - linuxbox, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Why would Google invite 400 aol hackers to a meeting?
- tibby.dude, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1"I for one welcome our new Google-Microsoft overlords".
- LordHalo, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1sources pointed to a Google Mp3 player
- Mesach, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1anyone wanna guess if Kevin will go after his leakage of the rokr?
- Elranzer, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Would be funny if they announced Google OS Linux, then only to follow-up that it's RPM-based and not APT-based. Oh, the let-downs...
- peerk, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I wish I was invited so I could experience the sweetness.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0+digg solely because of the funny description.
- birdadderley, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0"Google Kitchenware."
lol. I like that idea; move over Miracle Blades/Choppers and Magic Bullets, here comes the Google Grind and Search. - zediker, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0its probably GoogleNet. It might be a free broadband network. Or maybe they finally got that mind control device working, and they will release their demands to the world. If they are met, there will be peace, if not, Google shall dominate the minds of all the weak.
- crpietschmann, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0The Segway didn't change anything. So are you basically saying that Google wont be revealing anything of any major importance?
Google designer clothing?... - birdadderley, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Thought: I wonder if Bill Gates and Steve Jobs will be invited to this thing?!?!
- SpacePirate, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Well, looks like I've got ANOTHER fifty invites... You just can't get rid of 'em. :P
- xodex, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I sure bet they won't invite that guy or his group that hacked google the last time... He's just on another level..
- mach4x0r, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I think this is just Google using hype to their advantage, if this doesn't drive stock prices up nothing will.
- Tales, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I'm thinking it will actually be quite a major announcement, because a lot of their other services have been released very quietly (i.e. Google Talk)
- ziggystardust, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Ok.. Let's get to what is important.
How do we get into the site? http://services.google.com/zeitgeist05
Do you think its a standard user and pass or unique for each guest? - salmonmoose, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0"I'm thinking it will actually be quite a major announcement, because a lot of their other services have been released very quietly (i.e. Google Talk)"
I don't know about quiet, Google Talk made the TV news in Australia - mikataur, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I just think it's funny that "Spider-Man III super villains announced" is just 2 diggs away from "Google is having a secret meeting."
I love super secret lairs and villains! - FRAGaLOT, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0It's a conspiracy about the assassination of Gates, Jobs, and Ballmer. THEN Google will rule the ***** world! MWahahahhaha!
- linuxbox, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0wastern, well it isn't anymore. The new fad is actually typing in English.
- Crazyguy, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Somebody should hack the meeting site.
- barbobot, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0i dont know i would probably leave all options open. they always throw curve balls
- est1984, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0"We're buying AOL. Thank you, have a goodnight."
- wastern, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0'wastern, well it isn't anymore. The new fad is actually typing in English."
very true. I was never much into 1337 speak, but i find the most i see it, the more i'm compelled to type as I would in an english class. funny how that works - paintist, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I throw my hat into the google isp theory. GoogleOS is probably a long ways away, and why the hell would Google want to join the mp3 crowd THIS late? Google has already made it self a domain registrar and it was buying fiber optic cables/pipelines.
- lowridah, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0actually, i'm so elite i recall the days elite was spelled out with letters instead of numbers.
- tibby.dude, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0"I for one welcome our new Google-Apple overlords".
Just covering all the bases. - andy78, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I think they are buying something big. A report from a few weeks back showed the owners cashing in their stock.
whatever.. who cares. - rewritable, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0GoOS
- serra, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0@blhack: Best comment ever, love the keyboard problems. :P
- M1k3Y69, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0hey, whatever it is, its sure to be good!
- TheNik, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I was invited, weren't you?
- dbr_onix, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Theres probobaly not a lot there.. And possibly they have..
Maybe thats who their inviting? :p
*Awaits semi-DDoS attack on google by 100000000 people trying to bruteforce the login at once*
..I'll digg this just to give that a slight more chance of happening :P
- Ben - aristotle1990, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Wouldn't someone have hacked into this site by now?
- propagandhi, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Google buys Yahoo!!!
- Nick_Circosta, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Google Jet's First Flight
- wastern, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0one way to keep the secret--
Google: "Anyone that has this info on their site will be blacklisted off the google search and will lose all google ads on their page"
Bloggers: "Yes Google, we will keep it quite" - Magallanes, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Agreed with the comments about this bulls### is a marketing stuff. In fact, we do not forget that google now work with shares, so while more "famous" be, the shares going up. It's not a economic crime?.
