Re: linking to blogs
To whom it may concern,
Don't do it. Link to the story ( http://services.google.com/jobs/application ) instead.

P.S. That "jobs cart" thing creeps me out. - kimos, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3That's a misleading headline...
They have plenty of online applications! Gmail, Google Maps, etc. - elroy, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2DOES IT USE AJAX?!?!?!?!?!????!
- calyx, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2This is a bit far into the realm of googlestalking. Who cares if they have a job cart or not?
- squink, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Great now all I need is an engineering degree.....
- rodball, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I'm going to apply to all of them. You know, increase my odds.
- cubbieco, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1This has to be by far the lamest thing I have read on the front page.... EVER!!!
Strike 1: It's a blog
Strike 2: It's stupid
Strike 3: It's not important to anybody or anything. If you didn't apply to Google because you had to use an email program but want to apply now then you are as lame as this story. - Hortnon, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Doesn't it say not to link to a blog right on the form to submit a story?
Just a thought. - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Wish me luck
- modpancake, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Now they're going to get all sorts of people trying to get a job there.
- gamekid, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0"Now they're going to get all sorts of people trying to get a job there."
That's where the interviewer comes in handy. - gamekid, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0"hop on the sinking ship......"
If they know what they're doing, it could save money over the employees and time needed to comb through paper resumés... - gamekid, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0"Doesn't it say not to link to a blog right on the form to submit a story?

As someone who's submitted two slightly-dugg stories, I've noticed. I hope more Digg members do, but then when one makes a public-transportation system, they get two things: transportation and the public. ;) - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1hop on the sinking ship......
- macewan, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0how google 2.0 of them
- dignan2681, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Google has access to my search history. So much for working there.

Ya'll are idiots. This is a news site, and linking directly to the Application is not news. You need some sort of reporting, and, in this case, is what the blog does. Linking to a blog that links to news is retarded, linking to a blog that IS THE NEWS makes sense. Like i said, ya'll are idiots. - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0man people are desperate to get stuff on digg
you guys should digg my "google finally switches to recycled paper products" story /sarcasm
dont get me wrong i like google but this is bad - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0no digg, cos it linkes to a blog
- ahmerhussain, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Google Reader is an online app.
- u3b3rg33k, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Woo hooo! don't care!!!!
- matelot, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0title is so misleading : missing the all-important word : JOB
- DigitalDud, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0What will they think of next? Now you can use the power of web forms to get a job writing Javascript and Python all day. Yay!
- Jakub81, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I wouldn't like to work in a company which collaborates with Chinese regime. Besides, who cares about a web form? No digg.
- stylesP, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0who the hell diggs this %&/=*(/
- teddziuba, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0who cares? no digg.
- bluk, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Google has always used automated tools to read resumes, and their tools have sorted out resumes based on certain factors relevant to the job being applied for. Go to any college Google recruiting meeting, and they'll freely admit it. Some of the earliest Googlers supposedly made programs that plotted your work potential based on what you've done in the past.

Re: linking to blogs
Shut up! - remcgregor, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0"hop on the sinking ship......"
Yep, definitely a sinking ship. You know, any company who doubles their revenues from $3 billion a year to $6 billion a year, in a years time, is definitely going down hard and fast. Or, you know, a company who increases their profit from $8 million a year in 2001 to about $1.6 billion a year in 2006 is going to leave a large crater in the ground as they crash and burn any day now.
Idiot.
Google's stock is dropping because analysts made insane predictions about their income, and although still increasing their revenues by an amazing amount, missed the analysts predictions. Google is still gaining share on their rivals in a market that is growing incredibly fast. Google in a month's time knocked MSN Search from 14% to 10.9% of the search market and Yahoo! dropped about a percent. - osbjmg, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0@ moracity - I agree, and judging by your response you are probably white... erm European-American
- ekrocker, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0Who cares?
- moracity, on 10/12/2007, -2/+1Jackasses -
The race/ethnic group selection has African-American. I'm tired of ignorant people labelling all black people in the world as African-American.
It may seem nitpicky, but it really does speak volumes.
They don't say Hispanic-American or Asian-American, or even Anglo-American or Nordic-American. That we sound ridiculous wouldn't it? So why is African-American singled out? Do they assume that people of African descent from other counties would not apply? Talk about racism.
I would submit that anyone using the term African-American to label people of African decent are racist, white or black. - DCstewieG, on 10/12/2007, -2/+0Moracity:
It seems you are the one labelling them as blacks. Does it say African-American (Black) on the app? I doubt it. It means someone of African heritage living in America. Not all black people or even JUST black people. Black people who aren't African aren't going to select that now, are they? So what's the big deal? By your examples though, you seem to be more mad about the "-American" part. I'm surprised you've never seen "Asian-American" anywhere before...I have.
In any case ethnicity doesn't matter for job applications. It's illegal for them to force you to say what you are. If anything is racist about it, it's having an ethnicity selection on there at all...and that's definitely not unique to Google. - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -3/+0yuk.
