- badboys213, on 10/18/2007, -2/+272The Unabomber hates the algorithm............nope, I'm drawing a blank. What the hell does it mean?
- kevin_qnn, on 10/18/2007, -1/+203the unabomber was a guy in the 90s who hated technology and sent bombs to people so i guess he would hate "the algorithm" cause its technology? terrible ad campaign
- canewediggit, on 10/10/2007, -0/+161did ask seriously use the unabomber in their campaign? stay classy, barry.
- inactive, on 10/10/2007, -2/+134google has the better ad campaign here. They are offering you something to use the services....
instead of making some weird reference to the unabomber. just terrible. - kalleanka, on 10/10/2007, -12/+99You guys seriously don't get the ad???
The Unabomber was _hiding_ from the police for what, 10-20 years or so?
The algorithm can _find_ him... You see, it's a search engine, it finds things...

- EspressoNinja, on 10/10/2007, -1/+60Hitler hates reddit.
/Am I doing this right? - LowFuel, on 10/10/2007, -1/+47Maybe they should pick things that haven't already been found...
Gravitons...
Amelia Earhart...
An Algorithm better than Googles... - Namco, on 10/10/2007, -4/+35Wow! A photo of two billboards. Amazing!
- centran, on 10/10/2007, -0/+29It is awesome. You just speak your city state and then the business name or category. It is pretty accurate.
After you find a business it will connect you for free. When it wants to connect you you can say text message and it will send you a text of all the info.
You can also text 46645 (googl) and put in pizza near zipcode... or you can even do 40C in F. - indicas, on 10/10/2007, -0/+27It means someone failed at copywriting.
- bebop717, on 10/10/2007, -2/+28Ask's next campaign is how Hitler hates the algorithm.
- kingkilr, on 10/10/2007, -2/+25Before he want all crazy he was a brilliant mathematician so he might like it :D
- XdigitalXdeathX, on 10/10/2007, -2/+24I was thinking the same thing. We both must be living under rocks.
But my rock is bigger than your rock. - badboys213, on 10/10/2007, -1/+21yeah, I don't need ask.com to know where the unabomber is. He's in jail.
- btchsntsht, on 10/10/2007, -2/+22i thought it said billiards instead of billboards and i was very disappointed
- illahtech, on 10/10/2007, -0/+19Haha, so corny it became anti-corny, and thus awesome.
- sakuraz, on 10/10/2007, -1/+19If it needs to be explained....it failed.
- Majorkerina, on 10/10/2007, -1/+17Ask's new ads are truly some of the worst I've seen out of an internet company and there have been some really ***** ones.
- Slade605, on 10/10/2007, -0/+16There was that documentary on BBC a while back, call Dangerous Knowledge. It explored the brightest mathematicians before they went insane and killed themselves. I believe BBC posted it on Google Video. It's pretty interesting.
- Firehed, on 10/10/2007, -0/+14It can find anything? I dunno, that's why Ask's marketshare is around -2%.
- nekochan, on 10/10/2007, -0/+11most people in that situation digg it for when they get home, instead of burying out of spite.
- unloud, on 10/10/2007, -1/+12Ladies and gents, I present to you a fine example of advertising in progress.
- Agret, on 10/10/2007, -0/+9Carmen San Diego would've been a good choice :P
- aramova, on 10/10/2007, -0/+8None.
"Welcome to Goog-411 Experimental"
"What city and state"
New York New York
"Okay, what listing or category?"
Adult Superstore
"Okay, here are the top 10 results, you can say the number at any time, or say start over"
Unf unf unf unf unf unf unf...
You can also get directions from a zip code, or a text message with all the details.
No ads, no gimicks. Just pure google know-how. - masterofshadows, on 10/10/2007, -0/+8The unabomber wanted to remain hidden, they are saying their algorithm could even find things that you don't want found. Sounds like blatantly ignoring robots.txt to me :p
- Barbega, on 10/10/2007, -0/+6Thanks... I'm watching it now
For everyone else

- lougoose, on 10/10/2007, -4/+8Mirror:
http://duggmirror.com/tech_news/Google_even_beats_ ... - inactive, on 10/10/2007, -1/+5Works very well.
- suprxtragrav, on 12/09/2008, -1/+5i totally didnt know google had a 411 service
- Krumm, on 10/10/2007, -0/+4Are they clever enough to make it obscure so you have to goog..sorry.. search for it on ask?
Or maybe it just is a crappy ad... - Namco, on 10/10/2007, -2/+6Sweet Jesus! They're not just next to each other, but one is sitting triumphantly above the other!!!!???!!!?!?!!!!111
- inactive, on 10/10/2007, -1/+4Ask isn't even that popular compared to google, so I don't get why this is a surprise.
It's like saying, "OMG McDonald's beat out hardee's!" ...where you might have people asking, "WTF is Hardee's?"
Same thing. - aquadoctorbob, on 10/10/2007, -1/+4I clicked on a story that had "funny pic of billboard" in the description and now I'm pissed off!
- vagarach, on 10/10/2007, -0/+3Yes, but it also covered scientists, http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=-350387730 ... great stuff!
- k1down, on 10/10/2007, -0/+3The unabomber hates ask.com's bloated UI.
- krizzle, on 10/10/2007, -14/+17WOAH! TWO BILLBOARDS NEXT TO EACH OTHER? ID SLAM ON MY BRAKES TOO! YEAH!
- Acqua206, on 10/10/2007, -1/+4I don't get it. Is there a relationship between the Google ad and the Ask ad that I'm not getting? How did Google beat Ask in billboards? Because it was above it? Does that constitute being beat in the billboard world?
- Samji, on 10/10/2007, -0/+2http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Unabomber
What kind of dumbass campaign is that.
It's the equivalent of a condom manufacturer using the slogan:
"Goddamn, the Pope hates the condom". - LethalAmbition, on 10/10/2007, -4/+6Try dialing the number, hero.
- woody24, on 10/10/2007, -0/+2My first thought was that their search is so bad that the unibomber hates Ask, because he can't find out how to make bombs.
(even though I know he was smart enough to make them on his own.) But yes, whatever they meant, its terrible. - clemsontigers, on 10/10/2007, -1/+3"Nobody uses Ask Jeeves!!!"
--South Park - amillion3, on 10/10/2007, -0/+2Yea, Goog411 is actually a great tool when you're away from a computer!
- picsectionpleez, on 10/10/2007, -0/+2About the most interesting thing we have had all morning...... zzzzzzzzzzz
- evilregis, on 10/10/2007, -0/+2Does that mean he found a humour cornhole instead of loophole?
- mbgalvin, on 10/10/2007, -0/+2Wow, that is awesome. Some company called "Not Found" totally posted over everything on that page. Sick!
- frostw, on 10/10/2007, -0/+2cornsome?
- Scheissen, on 10/10/2007, -3/+5I feel sorry for Ask or any company that tries to go up against Google, though I do like the sidebars that Ask has. Google is just too good of a company to hate and to stop using.
- stevedclarke, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1Are you sure there's not something up. I mean there seems to be some strange logic as to which sites are blocked for you. I just saw the same comment at the top of the Carl Sagan thread: http://www.digg.com/offbeat_news/Carl_Sagan_A_Fire ...
