- aburd, on 10/12/2007, -3/+8Are you going to be putting "Kill that bitch" or "Remember: BUY MORE HEROIN!" in your calendar? If not, I don't know why you would be worried about your privacy on this one.
- jonathanex, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3Whilst I could easily use any online calendar, or software for one, I know I'll find myself using the Google Calendar - simply as it's Google. I use Gmail and Google/ig so much, having a calendar tied into my account there would be brilliant.
People like Kevin and Alex might bash every single thing Google do, but I like Google bringing so many clean things under their roof. I like Google Talk, it's bare bones and simple - what I really want from a chat client. I don't need file sharing much, both users would have Gmail to just send the files. Then, tying Google Talk into Gmail was great - reading my logs at Gmail and making it easy to chat to people when not at home. Google ig is a nice, clean page - which can show my latest Gmail messages! Google Pages will work for me as a good remote file hosting service, which is again, tied in with the same account. With a calendar to everything, bam. I'm more happy. - ketsugi, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Please let me sync with Sunbird. And my iPod. For the win.
- osrevad, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2CL2 is the Codename. It'll probably just be called Google Calendar when it's actually released.

- LeFrenzy, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2i've been waiting for them to release a Gcalendar forever. I hope they make it iPod compatible.
- devoinregress, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Google isn't giving info away to the government. Unless they change management I wouldn't worry so much. They are information addicts and love indexing the information but I doubt it goes anywhere but back to the user. I am liking the way google is going. They are getting ideas out their and although some of them are crap their are some gems amoung them and they are all intigrated.
- l0ne, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2I want WebDAV publishing for iCal! :)
- rcomegys, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2like jonathanex, I'd really love to have a calendar right on my google/ig page. It'd be the new main tool.
- eismcsquare, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Also, note that http://calendar.google.com does not return 404 (though it redirects to google home page, for now), while trying something random like http://xyz.google.com returns error.
Does that mean anything? - dbpigeon, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1"now i may acutally use a calender, just because it will probly be pretty and user freindly.. google runs my life"
Same here. Although I did like 30boxes.com with the Gmail layout lol. - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1kb3juv, seek and ye shall find, if not, here is this links page.

Hope dat question u answerz. - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2"it will probly be pretty"
No, *this* calendar is going to be by *google*. - stonedgeek, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Interesting. I've been looking for some kind of calendar app for my home computer that I can synchronise with outlook at work. I wonder if it can do that?
- mikebeauchamp, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2Great, so now the government will know exactly what YOU searched for, who you emailed and what you emailed them about. Everyone you talk with (using Google's new IM client) and what you say.. Now they'll also know what you are doing this weekend!
- DigeratiPrime, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1only problem is it appears seperate from gmail. i hope its integrated like yahoo mail.
- spy1325, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1now i may acutally use a calender, just because it will probly be pretty and user freindly.. google runs my life
- ericab, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Hawt. I can't wait to see it.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -2/+3Unless the calendar will be compaitable with iCal, iPlanet/Sun One's calendar server and my Treo - then it's of no use to me.
- MalDON, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1It will probably be out sooner than two days. Looks like they are ready to launch it today.
- foshizol, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I hope I'll be able to sync it up with Evolution. Although there doesn't seem to be much support for Linux coming from Google.
- tijer, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1where is that links page he's got the dumps from?
- holdemcharts, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1"Are you going to be putting "Kill that bitch" or "Remember: BUY MORE HEROIN!" in your calendar? If not, I don't know why you would be worried about your privacy on this one."
I wonder what Google Adsense would come up with if you had that in your Google calendar. ;-) - GuineaPig, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1People complain about numerous Internet services not working with the Treo. The Internet was overheard saying, "The Treo won't work with me, so I have no use for it."
- DisposableRob, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I'm actually more glad to see that Google is linking their different services together more conveniently for those of us with a Google account.
- sishgupta, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1The people that are all "Why are people excited about a calendar" are most likely not busy enough, for whatever reason, to see the need for a good online calendar.
I use sunbird for university and i have never been more organized with my classes and assignments.
if google calendar has a to do list in addition to the standard event planner, AND it can be easily exported ical format for the ipod, it will be the best calendar ever. - ronin9, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Awesome!
- lexico, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Seems to be true, I've got it on my google links page as well
- ericab, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1digg effect?

http://www.google.com/cl2/ - matlock, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I've been looking for a good replacement for 30 Boxes in terms of web scheduling. It would be nice to associate email threads with calendar events.
- antigoogle, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1This should be bad news for all these calendar makers like Kiko, 30boxes etc..
- macewan, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1where is this "links" option?
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0These days, I barely feel safe even doing an "anonymous" search on google (or any other search engine ). I'm not likely to set up an account and put my personal itinerary in their hands.
- techlinks, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0As someone else said. I hope it syncs with my iPod. Stupid only syncing with Outlook. Boo Outlook.
- p2pintel, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0lookslike CL2 is currently under beta testing by Google's employees - remember the beta tester trust program that was revealed on digg a few days ago -- that's it ;-)
- br0ken1128, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I need this thing, I've been looking for a nice, clean, powerful web calendar for a while now.. I hope they release some kind of API for it as well, there are things I'd like to add if they don't exist.
For example, I'd like to be able to let my friends add things, with my approval of course.. birthdays.. etc
I'd like public and private events, assuming that the calendar is viewable on the web by others..
A nice ajax API to make my own calendar would be pretty nifty too :) .. - jamsea, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0:P It'll be up within the next 2 days then
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Kudos to chamunks for the brainless response. Someone keep him away from the Internet...he's liable to get hurt.
- DarkDonnie, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0About freaking time.
- amorpork, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0ohhh cant wait to see this - will make a nice change from 30 boxes
- razvan, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0who da hell gave big words like "phishing" to all the morons?
- mruocky, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0so what's going on with this?
- Furious, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Neat I hope I can sync it with my life.
- KB3JUV, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Where is this links page?
- Empyrean, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Yeah and then right after they release it they'll snatch it away just like they did with the Google Pages thing...bastards lol.
- locojones, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1You guys really need a Google calendar to tell you that you don't have a date for Friday or Saturday night? hehe
- mcpaige, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0"looks like some kind of phishing attack since google accounts dont sign in it just gives you an obscure error" chamunks
!! WHAT are you talking about !! *get a clue*
"Sign in to Google CL2 with your Google Account" and the IP is GOOGLE, your not linking to some other server and they are taking your login and password ! - BritOverseas, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Good god, conspiracy theorists abound. The dude with the "Heroin" comment got it right.
I too, am pretty unorganised (birthdays and stuff), use my Google/ig page quite a bit (love them widgets) am a Treo user (NEVER use the calender) and would welcome some sort of organiser, if it made my life easier.
If it doesn't, then so be it, I am SURE the government knows when my kids were born, you have to get a licence (birth cert), remember. If they even care when my Dads birthday is, then let them have it. Maybe there is some secret plot to discover when I have to "buy milk", you never know what they will be watching next.....
Blah.
Are all the Google haters jealous, whats up guys, not getting enough, or any for that matter? - plkrtn, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Well Kevin and Alex will bash this for sure, because Google are the only company in the world who are willing to have the brass balls to take a risk on something, unlike Microsoft, who won't take any risks.
Then again they'll criticise Microsoft... and Alex will criticise Apple...
Is there any company that Alex doesn't criticise for that matter?? - gedw99, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I use Outlook and the outlook connector to keep contacts, calender and mail in sync between hotmail and outlook.
It costs me 6 pounds a month. i hated to pay MS for this, so if GMail comes out with decent sync support to Outlook or the Mozilla email client, i can dump Microsoft and save dollars.
i expect there will be a few deserters like me too.
