- pete10203, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3Nice! Now I don't have to use a hack to do it. Hah. I guess they realized that people were going to download them regardless, so they might as well make themselves look good and let peopel download them. Will YouTube follow?
- suprman, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2if you go to the url in the GVP file you get directed to an AVI download
- Jeffrey903, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Wouldn't this now allow people to host video podcasts on google's server? I'm not sure if the generated links expire, but couldn't a person use a link like this:
http://vp.video.google.com/videodownload?version=0&secureurl=jQAAAMPp8Hl-QmAR5ztp-icKf_-3myrQuxck_DizoQVccPQd8r_Z7snRPusbNajyQCEW0t31YQftJl4_aFV8JY6ivsOKpMPoKUY0YGqsC9D3n1GIiuqekMsmlc66oq2j97ROOM9iO7vKvVTBxWtBjVyndB-069-2o8jGzqPXAeiEWaLjE_NYt5WE739avSuAnT-4uQ&begin=0&len=2730896
in their RSS feeds (assuming that link doesn't expire). That link should be to the diggnation thanksgiving episode in ipod video format. People would have to wait until their podcast video got added to google video, but at least they wouldn't have to pay for bandwidth or use bittorrent. - LoKi128, on 10/12/2007, -0/+21. Go to one of the free videos.
2. In Firefox, go to the "Page Info" dialog, and into the Links tab.
3. There are three links, with the name "this link". First one is the AVI, second one seems to be for the iPod, third for the PSP. These take you straight to the media, without downloading the GVP file.
Dunno if these links will be there forever, but very convenient while they do exist. And they are not there for the pay videos. - MoeB, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=3611763511650112057
"Sorry, purchasing this video requires Windows 2000 or Windows XP." - corsairstw, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Gosh. All some people do is complain. I'm verrrrry happy about this.
Google just hasn't completed the Mac version of the DRM to function on OS X. Give them some time and it will be available. For now, suffice yourself with the boatloads of free content in friendly formats. - jtdgrz, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=-1607114503824678810&q=waterborne
The only movie I can find that you can pay for. - curtissthompson, on 10/12/2007, -2/+3I love how Google understands its users better than most large corporations! They the one large American corporation that I like, because they stay true to there users. Nice to see the caught on to the usefulness, and demand for Google video download!
- vypergts, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Is it just me or is the price point really high for some of these? $14.99 for a copy of IMAX: Dolphins? IMAX movies are only like 33-45 mins. long and the resolution is what?
- zerosum, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1And just think, the extraterrestrials were going to contact us today, but instead they saw this:

They quietly (and quickly) moved along... - MoeB, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0http://video.google.com/nba.html
- prodigy311, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0They said at CES that mac support was coming soon! loving the iPod support!
- staticten, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0With this many digg users digging this s#it, now i know that u guys have never seen downloadable HD content...or even HD TV..........c'mon guys, it's so bad, for $3.99 for one NBA game........
NO way!! - sq377, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0The Psp downloads are broken... the psp has a naming scheme that must be followed for files to work on the psp... google needs to do something about this... Its tricky though. technically i think the psp could only have 999 files on it, so google can't give EVERY file its own name. Maybe a proprietary program that downloads files directly to psp (so it doesn't overwrite old files) and renames them correctly.
- FullMetalMonkey, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0http://www.nba.com/news/google_060106.html
This is what will make the most money! - JFetch, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0The quality is horrible. If they want me to pay for it, it should be better than a vhs version.
- corsairstw, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0As for price, it's not up got Google to set the amount. The studios do that. So, if the IMAX company wants to sell their video for 15 bucks, so be it - just nobody will download it.
- 21.0, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0hahaha all those poor javascript ppl just figured it out too
- PiGuy, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Doesn't look like it supports 1.5 firmware for PSP. Still awesome, and I had download speeds over a meg. Hell yes.
- Forse, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Wow....I bow to google for realizing psp is good market (along with ipod) ;)
I wish I could give it 10+ digg - Psykus, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Flippin sweet!

- nicopunktse, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Very nice indeed. Now I can stop using Greasemonkey scripts! ;) I sure do hope YouTube will follow!! :)
- plkrtn, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Can you put pay content onto your iPod?
can people other than American's buy it?
Can they not force ***** quality Flash video down my throat for paid content. I'm ok with free content being delivered by it, but not pay! - nymphetamine, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0i like how they have the 30 sec previews. good job google, good job.
- Cyphase, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I don't know if anyone has said this already (I didn't want to read all the comments :P), but how long do you think it'll be until someone releases an extension/Greasemonkey script that plays the AVI video instead of the Flash?
- XStatic, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Now how I play these one my TiVo?
- GerryDaman, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0My first DIGG! This is fun. :)

- pixelface, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0GVP files are a cool concept, but I still like...
Google Video Downloader v2
http://feelingtea.com/decode/google/
Just save as .FLV and play in VLC. - Jammerdelray, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0GOOGLE VIDEO STORE NOW LIVE!!
- tacom8, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0there is an eboot firmware launcher to view avc files on your 1.5 psp without fully upgrading, migh actually be worth checking out now.... i though the PMP video viewer also viewed avc files too at one time.
- AdverseEntropy, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0This is pretty bad, I'm sorry. The store lacks any definite structure. Even if I bought videos online, I wouldn't do it here.
- godwept, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I just tried to buy a Voyager episode and apparently you have to be an American to do so.... boo!
- staticten, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0WORST QUALITY EVERRRRRRRRRRRRR!!!!
NO DIGG!! - heifetz, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I didn't really think there would be so many google fanboys. But does anyone else agree that the video store sucks? It looks like someone's college project. What are all those highly paid engineers doing?
- Mediaright, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Is it just me, or is the audio sync screwing up on the windows/mac downloads of unprotected downloads?
- shack, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0FINALLY I can get all of the BBC episodes of Top Gear on my iPod. Thanks Google!
- dracula7, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0"google video beta"?

zing!!! - rhyno2000, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Download option is certainly nice.
But "Put on Site" is sllllow and doesn't even come up half the time...

Or it just gives you a random number each time. - xile, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Nice, still no cost for NOVA.
- MoeB, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0"Doesn't look like it supports 1.5 firmware for PSP. Still awesome, and I had download speeds over a meg. Hell yes."
you need to make THM files for 1.5 - corsairstw, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0mediaright, If you're using the AVI downloads, sometimes audio and video get out of sync on those files.
Especially for me in Quicktime. I don't know what program you're using though. -
