- inactive, on 09/12/2008, -1/+36rofl, the second comment on that page
google had 5 billion views? Uh oh comcast gonna disconnect them. - suzannethetiger, on 09/12/2008, -1/+24And the other 1/2 is porn. Did this article seriously ignore the adult sector?
- Lucifugerising, on 09/12/2008, -3/+24Lies!
the real list is
-Redtube
-Spankwire
-Porntube
-Youporn - phike, on 09/12/2008, -1/+15Fine......they INVESTED more money on web video than any one else. Whether or not it was a wise investment can be any one's guess.
- webresources, on 09/11/2008, -2/+12Surprising info..
- alapoet, on 09/11/2008, -2/+12Now, *that's* market share.
- Chillbilly, on 09/12/2008, -0/+8I need to go trounce something now
- MikeSobe, on 09/12/2008, -0/+7I wonder how many of Viacom's views are from Comedy Central compared to other websites they run.
- Lucifugerising, on 09/12/2008, -0/+7I really shouldn't have posted this.
- Sozin, on 09/12/2008, -0/+6Gmail bombed? That's the only service I use...I love it.
- Jsmuli2, on 09/12/2008, -0/+6You're right, you shouldn't have posted that, the truth hurts...wankers
- HeavyWave, on 09/12/2008, -1/+7Fox second? What the world has come to :(
- Zippo, on 09/12/2008, -3/+9They know a lot about users as a whole... they don't know ***** about individual people.
Even if they DID gather a lot of personal information, by the sheer number of people who use Google's products, it would be impossible for them to weed through it all and really do anything that would effect you as an individual. - 1hrSleep, on 09/12/2008, -0/+6Gmail has bombed? What?
- benologist, on 09/12/2008, -0/+5I'm guessing there are individual videos on YouTube that rack up more views than Rev3's entire lineup combined.
It's not really a fair comparison though because they're different types of business. - BaileyCowboy, on 09/12/2008, -0/+5Gmail and Google Talk have bombed?
- usedupfag, on 09/12/2008, -0/+5Dear Siggy, do you even know what the ***** you are talking about?
Sincerely me, UsedUpFag. - rkiga, on 09/12/2008, -1/+5i'm surprised hulu is so low on the list.
anyway, just found documantis.com through ovguide.com
two great links - Archon810, on 09/12/2008, -2/+6In Soviet Russia, Comcast disconnects Google.
- benologist, on 09/12/2008, -1/+5Hulu's US-only. If/when they open up to the other 5 3/4 billion people in the world they will rocket up that list.

I think the concern is more than just an IP address. For anyone you IM, Email can get your IP. Even any website you visit tracks this information. Probably personal info, like names, browsing history...
People tend to freak out when they hear "tracks data." Your on the internet, welcome to no privacy. - pcpimpster, on 09/12/2008, -1/+4You should understand they track your IP and your IP can be tracked to your house or work place.
- dondara, on 09/12/2008, -0/+3Hey Bill, get Jerry to call me. And sorry about all that Vista stuff
- Manther, on 09/12/2008, -0/+3You're an idiot. Gmail hasn't bombed, not by a long shot, and maybe once they get it out of beta it'll be top of the list. Really, I can't understand why anyone would use yahoo or hotmail these days, they're plain terrible. Gmail's spam filters are awesome, I never get garbage in my inbox, and I've had the account for YEARS now... Took days to be bombarded in my other accounts (without using them just to sign up for crap online...I made a second gmail account for that)
- benologist, on 09/12/2008, -0/+2I'm not saying be afraid of Google, just that they do have identifying data and they have a very, very good chance of being able to personally identify you. They literally said the other day that they are keeping your IP-specific data for 18 months but hope to shorten it to 9 months.

If you think you're safely anonymous because it's only an IP address and not your name you're in for some surprises. Back in 2006 AOL changed usernames to random unique numbers, zipped up their logs and gave the data away.

Also what's with the conspiracy nut garbage? It's hardly a secret or far fetched that Google has spent a lot of time and money mining the data they collect on everyone who does anything on any of their services.... - pcpimpster, on 09/12/2008, -0/+2All I'm saying everyone is that if they wanted to they could track you on the individual level or provide a filtered/recommendation type service based on how you use their service at the account level.
I'm not saying they want to do it or will do it, I'm not worried about it. Although i do disable google fromcollecting my web history/
At the account and IP level that all is tracked in if they ever want to sandbox you through their services based on your past usage, it can be done. It could even turn out to be a useful service. - aljian, on 09/12/2008, -4/+6Dugg for use of "trounce".
- flipao, on 09/12/2008, -0/+2Why do people complain so much about Google?
Almost everything they release is free, you're not tied to it like you would be to say, Ebay... there's a million other companies trying to take market share away from them, you're more than welcome to use ASK, MSN, or any other of those sites wanting nothing but profit and with zero interest in expanding the boundaries of the net.
Not only are they releasing stuff for free, they're pushing for open platforms and application interoperability, Chrome is Open Source, Android is a godsend compared to Symbian...
I'm not saying they're blame free, but it could be a million times worse. - Jsmuli2, on 09/12/2008, -0/+2I just trounced myself
- tjefferson85, on 09/12/2008, -1/+3Doesn't surprise me, Google is a well oiled machine!
- Tizlox, on 09/12/2008, -7/+8Google are honestly creeping me out lately. Chrome was slammed for "harvesting too much data" - the browser was developed with advertisement techniques being the key to success. Have a look at googles aquisitions on crunchbase over the last few years - they've been gobbling up a massive amount of advertisers. They've got so many adverts on board that they can serve contextual adverts for the smallest blog.
And youtube is just the kicker - they bought that knowing that it'd heammorage money. But they're happy in just having it, because it's the greatest advertisement tool known to man. It's a literal big brother for Google - they can see what's popular, what's going to be popular, what people are buying, what they'll be buying tomorrow, and even force a product to become popular.
Really, I couldn't live my life without Google, but they probably know more about me than my own mother. And that just creeps me out a little. - CrazedLeper, on 09/12/2008, -0/+1I did my share.
- zoom1928, on 09/12/2008, -1/+2The comments you requested failed to load. This is clearly Kevin's fault. Try again!
- benologist, on 09/12/2008, -3/+4It's cute you think they don't know stuff about individual people, especially since it's only a few days since Google announced they think they've figured out a way to anonymise the data they have that is tied directly to us as individuals - and identifies us as well - after just 9 months of mining it.
- misilman, on 09/12/2008, -1/+2Like you mom...
- skyshock1, on 09/12/2008, -0/+1xvideos
- NexusV2, on 09/12/2008, -1/+2I see what you did there...
- Celebilicious, on 09/12/2008, -3/+4Great info. We all need it.
- samard2002, on 09/12/2008, -0/+1I guess my comment could have come off like bashing Rev3. It was not meant to be. Rev3 is something I consider to be an independent producer online. Not just one of those "let's throw up anything and everything" video sites.
- sbaysem, on 09/13/2008, -0/+1LOLZ. Ftw!!!
- fluxion, on 09/12/2008, -0/+1that would explain why youtube has been absolutely slow as ***** all month
- inactive, on 09/12/2008, -0/+1I wonder what percentage of viewings are actually via youtube.com and what percentage are from embedded you-tube hosted flash littered all over the Internet because it's cheap, free and easy to use?
Phillip. - speedk0re, on 09/12/2008, -0/+1i used to work for that company (Fox Interactive Media). It's not just Fox, but it's myspace video, IGN, direct2drive, askmen.com, gamespy, etc... google owned a pretty big group that is counted as "1 company"!
- themusicalduck, on 09/12/2008, -0/+1Your ignorance in the subject astounds me.
- pcpimpster, on 09/12/2008, -0/+1This doesn't surprise me, when you use Google for search and a youtube video shows up as a top 10 result 90% of the time.
We all should ask the question "is google really giving us the top 10 best results for a our search, or only the top 9 and 1 lame ass youtube video?".
Don't do evil. That is going to get harder to live by as they increasingly try to monetize this 1.6 billion dollar acquisition.
It already has affected their search quality. - inactive, on 09/12/2008, -0/+1Serious question...I'm new to the World Wide Webs.
What is Fox Interactive Media? I've never heard of it. -
