Ah, society is going to hell. - merreborn, on 10/12/2007, -3/+15http://www.google.com/trends?q=satan%2C+jesus
Turkey is searching for satan.
Chile is searching for Jesus.
Does satan mean something else in Turkey? - prab, on 10/12/2007, -0/+12I usually see it the other way.
Google maps came out before the new Yahoo maps beta. Google was the first to use Ajax to let you click and drag.
Gmail pushed Yahoo to make the new Yahoo mail app and increase storage size.
Gtalk was a return to the basics, where most other messengers (including Yahoos) had left. 1.27 meg for Gtalk vs about 19 meg for Yahoo messenger. You also have to go to the custom install screen to prevent the Yahoo toolbar, Yahoo Browser Services, it changing your homepage, and default search engine.
I realize I probably just started a war, but I needed to say that. Also Yahoo comes out with some great original products, but these are not some of them. Finally, in reviewing what I wrote I realize Yahoo had all these products first, but Google moved them to the next level (not Gtalk) and Yahoo copied the innovation. - dave_colorado, on 10/12/2007, -2/+12lots of FORNICATION going on in Iran!

Coincidence? I think not. - info, on 10/12/2007, -1/+8Maybe fornication means something different in Persian?
Ahh... Wikipedia to the rescue...
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fornication
"In certain countries where parts of Islamic law are enforced, such as *Iran* and Saudi Arabia, fornication of unmarried persons is punishable by lashings..." - afex, on 10/12/2007, -1/+7why would people google for google.
better yet, why the hell would people google for yahoo?!?!?!
that's like driving your lexus to the kia dealership to look for a new car - merreborn, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5"They just ripped off Yahoo's idea and put a stock quote graph on it."
That's just a top 10. Google's had that for a long, long time: http://www.google.com/press/zeitgeist.html
Google Trends, on the other hand, breaks things down regionally, by date, by language... - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5Here are all of their announcements:

there's no word such as "satan" in Turkish. But Turkish is a highly agglutinative language and satan may mean "those who sell" in some cases.
Another reason might be that there were several satanist criminal acts in Istanbul in the recent years (like mass suicides), and they have been widely covered in media.. - konspence, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4Here's a better one

Apparently people who speak English search for Microsoft more frequently, while people who speak Russian search for Linux more often.
- yokat, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3@merreborn Satan means "seller" or "salesman" in Turkey
@semihaker you are wrong about the suicides, I live in Istanbul. Those stuff never happens here any more than the rest of the world. - richardiscool, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3Actually, when my father uses my computer, he googles for Yahoo, clicks the link, then types the URL in the Yahoo search box then clicks the link.
I've tried telling him otherwise but he won't listen. - D4r7h3v1l, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4the race is close:
