- TastyLamp, on 07/17/2008, -5/+144It's bad enough having to read stupid comments on YouTube and Digg, let alone on Google.
- HomieG6189, on 07/17/2008, -2/+93Meh. I like Google the way it is.
- wildfire, on 07/17/2008, -1/+72Great, now every link on Google is gonna be Rick Roll'd...
- moush, on 07/17/2008, -4/+62Maybe they can get it to work well.
- nwelsh, on 07/17/2008, -1/+51Ehh, that looks cluttered . . . .
- limezor2, on 07/17/2008, -1/+34Hmm..could be useful against spam site. Then again, people can extort this.
- Alex2, on 07/17/2008, -0/+28It won't be a true copy of digg unless Google's top search results are brought to you by MrBabyMan.
;) - quidpro, on 07/17/2008, -1/+28Yeah, Digg invented voting dammit! And Democracy! Digg invented Ubuntu! Digg invented Memes! Digg invented Ron Paul and History itself!! Digg invented Jesus riding Dinosaurs, and lists of things that list stuff! Digg has always been, and always will be!! Step off Goog!
- inactive, on 07/17/2008, -1/+21Exploit?
- liability11, on 07/17/2008, -2/+19jumping on the bandwagon?
- inactive, on 07/17/2008, -0/+15Great...another way to game the ***** system.
- Dysl3xicDog, on 07/17/2008, -0/+13Hopefully they don't replace the search engine with digg's, I like being able to find things I'm looking for.
- reddy76, on 07/17/2008, -0/+12why do i care about comments when i'm doing a web search ?
And then , every search will have millions of comments ... useless - inactive, on 07/17/2008, -0/+11I don't understand why a big company like Google would buy Digg, when it would be more economical to simply steal ideas and implement them independently.
- monkeystick, on 07/17/2008, -2/+10Googlenation?
DO NOT WANT. - inactive, on 07/17/2008, -3/+10Oh, the ironing...
- spoulson, on 07/17/2008, -1/+8Capitalization is commonly used in titles of articles. Duh.
- thailand1972, on 07/17/2008, -0/+6This will get abused. People will pay other people to leave favourable comments for their website. People will pay other people to leave bad comments on competitors' websites. Google cannot really police that. How do you know if a comment is genuine or bought?
- zcreem, on 07/17/2008, -0/+5If it aint broke don't fix it!
- lougoose, on 07/17/2008, -4/+9Well, hopefully they will have a better algorithm. :)
- jaysdude, on 07/17/2008, -1/+6The shnozberries taste like shnozberries
- Loornadune, on 07/17/2008, -0/+4Read the description on the site?
- SoopaflySAM, on 07/17/2008, -10/+14I don't like it at all!!!
- Oddish, on 07/17/2008, -4/+8You don't have to read them. Just don't click the link to view the comments. I'm sure you can handle that, no?
- thailand1972, on 07/17/2008, -0/+3Also, what's to stop people making companies look spammy? I can target a competitor's website and hire an Indian company to place hundreds of spam comments like "best company ever!", "would definitely recommend!!" etc etc in the competitor's listing. It would make the company look like trash to anyone concerned. People would think this company bought these comments (as naff as they sound). SO many ways to abuse this, it's not funny.
- bradkovach, on 07/17/2008, -0/+3It's called title case, and it's used in headlines. Get used to it.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Title_case#Headings_a ... - inactive, on 07/17/2008, -1/+4You give Digg too much credit.
- jaysdude, on 07/17/2008, -0/+3Yep, and every new tube user is going to think its the best new / funny thing out there.
- chrishirsch, on 07/17/2008, -1/+4OMG! Facebook has icons like that! and iLike! and Break!
Digg you are at the top of my list as an innovator of the internet.
and hey! iGoogle sounds like something Apple would make. and Picasa is like Flicker and Photobucket! and google talk is like aim! and sketchup is like autocad. And docs is like MS Office! OMGEWIJFASLFKJWOIPJF - ShadowFoxxx, on 07/17/2008, -5/+8Google is taking over everything. I'm sticking with Digg, thanks.
- mrblue182, on 07/17/2008, -11/+13I CALL SHENENIGANS!
- ileftfark, on 07/17/2008, -0/+2Like what Digg does?
- qbthemc, on 07/17/2008, -2/+4I don't see a resemblance.
- Stuntaneous, on 07/17/2008, -1/+3incoming aquisition =0
- ElBeh, on 07/17/2008, -0/+2And here I was thinking it would be better if Digg got a search interface that looks more like Google...
- jakatak, on 07/17/2008, -0/+2I don't think this is a good idea. Gaming competing websites will come into play. Google needs to stay away from this format. Digg still hasn't mastered it.
- Xplodzion, on 07/17/2008, -1/+3Very bad idea, considering Google is one of the biggest if not the biggest sites on the Internet, you will have all sorts of spam and advertisements in the comments for the most commonly searched terms.
- dood, on 07/17/2008, -0/+2Nearly everything they do funnels eyeballs in to AdSense.
- vat0r, on 07/17/2008, -0/+2I suspect this will be an opt in feature and won't affect search engine results or be displayed to the average Joe. It's just to easy to manipulate.
- homercles337, on 07/17/2008, -0/+2I dont know how you mactards deal with all the fluff on macs. That "water droplet" effect with his clicks would irritate the hell out of me.
- MrJagil, on 07/17/2008, -0/+1Well, i've always disliked google's layout, so i welcome this change...
- 0Xonox0, on 07/17/2008, -0/+1From that picture it looks like their backwards... the thumbs up is on the left and the thumbs down is on the right... that's going to be very confusing.
- KirbyMorph, on 07/17/2008, -0/+1I like the idea behind this, but we all know how easily this will be exploited. I can just imagine some of the more unscrupulous sites or blogs setting up Google Digg bombs to propel their sites up the search results and placing nothing but positive comments or burying any negative ones.
Now excuse me while I go prepare to have my blog rank first for random internet meme keywords. - MtheoryX, on 07/17/2008, -1/+2CANDYBARS!!!!
- shonzilla, on 07/17/2008, -0/+1Organizing world's stupid comments and making them universally accessible. Oh yeah, the world really needs that!
- ileftfark, on 07/17/2008, -0/+1I... I... I use both. (?)
- Bizarrkley, on 07/17/2008, -0/+1BFD!
- stephenlewi, on 07/17/2008, -0/+1It isn't too good
- chadell, on 07/17/2008, -0/+1This is not a Digg rip off, if you have been to http://www.eurekster.com/ and used a swicki you'll find that this another approach in search - social search!
