- salvisa, on 04/20/2009, -3/+51Get ready for Google Bombing 2.0:
"Oh looky... Google thinks "you're similar" to Susan Boyle." - digitalArtform, on 04/21/2009, -1/+33Ouch, for http://www.TinEye.com I guess
- WibWobble, on 04/21/2009, -0/+27For the lazy: http://similar-images.googlelabs.com/

who knew football players where similar to leopards? - jemka, on 04/21/2009, -3/+22Prepare to be buried into oblivion.
- enkideridu, on 05/15/2009, -0/+18that video was .. awkward
- thelastcivilian, on 04/21/2009, -1/+19Weird. I search for "vagina" and all I get are Georgia O’Keefe paintings.
- apex1903, on 04/21/2009, -0/+17Similar images for Kevin Rose... i lol'd
http://similar-images.googlelabs.com/images?q=kevi ... - drig, on 04/21/2009, -0/+13Microsoft launched their similar image search 12/08.
- bmcnally, on 04/21/2009, -0/+13Huh, it's just like what Live.com has had for the last 6+ months on their Image Search section.
- shotgunefx, on 04/21/2009, -1/+12About time. Alta Vista had it years ago. It was pretty neat. I'm surprised it took so long to reappear
- DarthTater, on 04/21/2009, -0/+10Altavista! years ago (before the googe era) it was my favourite search engine... the good old times!
BTW, they also had an application to search in your pc... this was also years before google desktop. - synwolf, on 04/21/2009, -0/+10First thing I tried was "hot girl."
So good. - vitriolix, on 04/21/2009, -0/+9Apparently he looks like liza minelli, george w. bush and some fat guy with a mustache.
- jeexbit, on 04/21/2009, -0/+8I did - I knew that.
- JusTuring, on 04/21/2009, -4/+12As the CEO of picitup.com I congratulate google for taking image simliarity to the main stream. We've been doing all that and more since mid '08 on our site and OEM but this much the cake much larger for everybody.
From a technology point of view I have several comments:
1. Overall usability is imressive
2. They seem to have done great work on the text side, image recognition side seems basic
3. The avaliable searches( not all images are searchable) are saved, rather than running online which means this is not a real online solution ( yet)
4. To be fair, Live( yes microsoft) has been offering a nice solution back in 12/08 ( Picitup in Mid 08..!), having said that, Google's overall solution seems somewhat better - slayerhk47, on 04/21/2009, -1/+9I wonder how long this feature will be in beta....
- FlagCapper, on 04/22/2009, -0/+8Digg's comments have officially degraded to YouTube level.
- cloudberries, on 04/21/2009, -0/+8That's because they're actually all looking at hardcore pornography.
- gsenechal, on 04/21/2009, -0/+7Good point. Live.com has some nice stuff that goes unnoticed by many due to it's lower market share.
I love the bird's-eye images at maps.live.com - especially because Google's street view hasn't come to my city yet. - Norstauf, on 04/21/2009, -1/+8http://similar-images.googlelabs.com/images?q=pict ... :)
- yaosio, on 04/21/2009, -0/+6It would be bad if it were able to do anything tineye can do.
- northerngeek, on 04/21/2009, -1/+7And there's the simple but useful infinite scroll functionality, I know it sounds lazy but when you're scanning for the right image it can be a huge timesaver. I switched over to Live.com a long time ago and never regretted it.
- WibWobble, on 04/21/2009, -0/+5My first thought too.
- PatrickBrown, on 04/21/2009, -0/+5Haha, could the second video be any more awkward?
- danconia, on 04/22/2009, -0/+5We need more prodigies who think like you sexybobo in this world
- Chooxo, on 04/22/2009, -0/+4At singing. She's good at *singing*.
You really need to specify, with that woman. - kdmkdmkdm, on 04/22/2009, -0/+4what's the point then...
- dexterous, on 04/21/2009, -0/+3this is a slightly cooler and advanced version of what they are doing
http://www.ted.com/index.php/talks/blaise_aguera_y ... - bouche, on 04/21/2009, -0/+4as long as google finds new ways to connect internet ***** for free, there will be no reason to complain. cool stuff.
- Synergy65, on 04/21/2009, -0/+4Works a lot better than I thought it would.
- wtfitsRICK, on 04/21/2009, -0/+4Definitely. That's really convenient.
- cave, on 04/22/2009, -0/+4He *does* look a bit like Liza!
- brandnewx, on 04/22/2009, -0/+4Funny Mona Lisa:
http://similar-images.googlelabs.com/images?q=mona ... - BoingMan, on 04/21/2009, -0/+4i look forward to testing this feature on boobs.
- mattcoady, on 04/22/2009, -0/+3Safe search is stuck on :(
- bashmohandesx, on 04/21/2009, -0/+3Check how Microsoft got this one 4 months before Google Did
http://digg.com/microsoft/Similar_Search_by_Google ... - chrysalis, on 04/21/2009, -0/+2Although they probably aren't as powerful as Google's algorithms, here are two opensource libraries that are designed to find similar images: PHash - http://www.phash.org and Libpuzzle - http://libpuzzle.pureftpd.org/project/libpuzzle
- nothin2g, on 04/22/2009, -0/+2No need for Google Bombing: http://digg.com/d1pKol
- DeathRay2K, on 04/21/2009, -0/+2It's pretty cool, but it would be better if the search was as powerful as the regular Google image search, plus right now it seems to be a little buggy (Only the first word is searched), but I guess those problems will be fixed in time.
- Bmarofsky, on 04/21/2009, -1/+3I give it 2 snaps up and a twist!
- digitalArtform, on 04/21/2009, -0/+2Yes, tineye is more precise, and google seems more semantic
- svivian, on 04/21/2009, -0/+2Yeah it's kinda stupid that you can't at least paste an image URL to get similar images. TinEye.com just needs more "coverage" of the net.
- LilRabbitFooFoo, on 04/22/2009, -0/+2It's interesting that Google can add features of this level of complexity, but still can't let you search by pixel dimensions anymore precise (or useful) than "large, medium, small, etc.". I'd look to be able to search Google for ALL images > 4000 pixels wide, for example, or in combination with other terms...
Search| Boat Blueprints width>4000
or something similar.
Currently you can only search on EXACT dimensions...and how the hell useful is THAT?! - inactive, on 04/21/2009, -0/+2Leelee Sobieski looks like Helen Hunt.
- pedepy, on 04/22/2009, -0/+2best use so far.
- JKAL, on 04/22/2009, -0/+2for lolz
http://similar-images.googlelabs.com/images?q=kevi ... - jasonh1234, on 04/22/2009, -0/+2Your facebook profile pic looks a lot like that rioter peeing on the cop car. Waitaminute...
- Rhythmix, on 04/22/2009, -0/+2Just like this one.
