- Beautyon, on 10/30/2008, -19/+127We are all waiting for Google to add the ability for Chrome to run on OS X.
- inactive, on 10/31/2008, -2/+67Windows integrates Internet Explorer. I use Firefox. The other day iTunes tricked me into installing Safari. My nephew installed Chrome on my laptop. My computer is an orgy of Internet browsers. WTF!
- MrCoke, on 10/31/2008, -10/+57sigh... adblock
- j3ff86, on 10/30/2008, -1/+45Can I scroll-button-click scroll yet?
- twiztidsinz, on 10/31/2008, -32/+67I thought owning a mac was the crappiest part of owning a mac.......
- chesterjosiah, on 10/30/2008, -1/+30Top Issues Fixed:
-Scrolling with laptop touchpads now works.
-Improved performance and reliability for plugins (like Flash, Silverlight, QuickTime, and Windows Media). We fixed issues with video not loading, stopping after a second, and slowing down or freezing Google Chrome (100% CPU usage).
-Fixed the 'chrome has crashed' message when you close a tab that was showing PDF using Adobe Reader 9.
-We no longer store data from secure sites (they use https: and show a lock in the address bar) in your history. You can still search your history for the site's address, but not the contents on the page.
-Improved performance and reliability for people who use web proxies (thanks to griffinz for the fixes). - OrangeSoda31, on 10/31/2008, -1/+28I don't think they will do that, their income is based on ads.
- hoppie, on 10/31/2008, -13/+39LINUX! Starting tomorrow I'd like all software to be first released for Linux. If it's awesome, we'll never ever release it for another OS, if it sucks - we'll release some slow emulated version for Windoze 2 years later saying "coming soon!" all the while.
- LilRabbitFooFoo, on 10/31/2008, -5/+30What we are all REALLY waiting on is Adblock Plus support. You get ALL my browser business when you've got that working, Google.
- L0sth0pe, on 10/31/2008, -7/+29FireFox is enough for me ...
- LilRabbitFooFoo, on 10/31/2008, -20/+41No, a handful of you are waiting. You bought into the niche/clique marketing after all.
- kigabit, on 10/31/2008, -0/+20supercalifragilisticexpialidocious*
No wonder you got the red underline... - fixmonster, on 10/31/2008, -2/+22Google.. please allow some integration from this other company I use all the time for bookmarking and email and such. They are called Google and I think you should talk to them. It could be a beneficial partnership!
- Doktag, on 10/31/2008, -14/+29I thought it was telling your parents you're gay?
- sarahperez2008, on 10/30/2008, -1/+15hey! scroll up finally works from my laptop touchpad, nice!
- Jareth86, on 10/31/2008, -0/+14Do I get to choose what folder to install it in this time, or is Google still deciding for us?
- FurtThePirate, on 10/31/2008, -1/+15finding out that I couldn't do that made me so mad.
- NathanielJ, on 10/31/2008, -1/+14If you already have a trojan on your computer that is capable of doing that, couldn't it already do anything that a new program downloaded and associated to Explorer could do anyway?
- thcobbs, on 10/31/2008, -0/+13I'm mainly waiting for it not to crash when I have two java-app pages open at the same time.
- OrangeSoda31, on 10/31/2008, -4/+17Going with linux isn't just about saving money. How's your proprietary OS working for you, btw?
- heyzdiggs, on 10/31/2008, -0/+12of course it was going to lose share. It was a major launch, lots of people tried it, and some stuck with it and some went back to using what they were used to. I'm sure that was expected.
- NathanielJ, on 10/31/2008, -1/+12Maybe his mom is a web developer and she needs to test sites in multiple browsers.
- inactive, on 10/31/2008, -1/+11Your friends mom is awesome. Power to that women as long as she is not using IE.
- Soave, on 10/31/2008, -1/+11Yeah Google doesn't care about market share. Google cares about competition to promote new advancements.
- keatonkeaton998, on 10/31/2008, -0/+9I'm disappointed, I thought this version was going to look like that little thumbnail image
- omnithought, on 10/31/2008, -0/+9I'll give you a PO Box to send a check to.
- freehunter, on 10/31/2008, -2/+11So you almost downloaded a free and small application that takes zero time to learn to try because someone told you they had an issue with it, and you're going to wait until they retract that statement to actually try it? You're saving yourself five minutes, which was the amount of time you spent finding this article, clicking on it, typing in your message, and taking a sip of your Mountain Dew. There are no issues with it that will destroy you, only slightly annoy you. Oh noes.
- DjArcadian, on 10/31/2008, -0/+9Pfffffff, I started with Mosaic.
***** noob. - arcooke, on 10/31/2008, -2/+11No adblocker, no Chrome.
- allyant, on 10/31/2008, -1/+9No.
- stutimandal, on 10/31/2008, -0/+8I got Flock Firefox Seamonkey IE 6.0 Opera and Chrome. I had Safari but I uninstalled it since safari stores about 400 MB of RSS feed links (for Jobs knows why) in temporary folders.
- skyshock1, on 10/31/2008, -0/+8And Linux!
- thealsir, on 10/31/2008, -0/+8LOL, my computer is a Roman orgy of browsers then.
- Hecubus452, on 10/31/2008, -0/+7Smooth scrolling please!
- Dumbledorito, on 10/31/2008, -1/+8Adding words to spellcheck is fine. An easy way to remove them is even better.
- DjArcadian, on 10/31/2008, -1/+8I really love how Chrome just pops right open. Very quick book up. Makes FF3 seem ssssslow but the add-ons are keeping me with Firefox for now. I hope FF4 is as quick on bootup as Chrome is.
- OrangeSoda31, on 10/31/2008, -0/+7I only scroll-button-click scroll.
- cheesehound, on 10/31/2008, -0/+7Can I edit my bookmarks from within the browser yet?
- mmockett, on 10/31/2008, -16/+23I thought it was receiving penis on a regular basis.
- quidpro, on 10/31/2008, -0/+7I've tried the latest build and scrolling is vastly improved. On my laptop, touch scrolling would result in behavior that was like hitting the Page Dn or Page Up keys...now it scrolls normally. Don't know about middle-button-scroll (if that's what you mean) I assume this beta would have that same fix, but won't know till I try. I might just stick with the latest builds regardless.
- kirakun, on 10/31/2008, -10/+16I thought it was your parents telling you they're gay.
- jkeyes0, on 10/31/2008, -0/+6sadly, I don't think they'll ever include something like adblock by default. google makes a decent amount of revenue from their ads, so releasing a free browser with the ability to block those ads would be counterproductive.
- TwiZted, on 10/31/2008, -0/+6That sounds like one of the computers I worked on the other day for a buddy. I swear, his mother had installed nearly every browser I could possibly imagine on it and I have no idea why.
- paulsmith288, on 10/31/2008, -1/+7thats still hundreds of millions of computers.
- jeff777, on 10/31/2008, -0/+5Try clearing out your cache because mine looks just like that. I have to admit: the wings are a great addition.
- KnightMareInc, on 10/31/2008, -0/+5I've been using the Dev releases, it gets updated alot more often.
- jamesmcm, on 10/31/2008, -1/+6Still no OS X version, still no GNU/Linux version. That means I can't run it on either of my machines (no way am I running my default browser through WINE and CrossOver)
- 0xABADC0DA, on 10/31/2008, -0/+5I don't expect google to release adblock. If they have extensions at all it will be like andriod where they can kill an adblock. All I'm saying is, chrome didn't have what most users wanted, it still doesn't have it, so why digg it?
- nick9000, on 10/31/2008, -4/+9or you could just use Firefox
- ohplease, on 10/31/2008, -7/+12
"Google will ask users for permission to open these files. Chrome now also saves every executable file with a .download extension and only converts them to their real file names after you confirm that you want to save them."
Whee now all the trojans have to do is associate .download with Explorer and it's open season on your computer again hooray -
