- hypografik, on 04/03/2009, -0/+11We all know TechCrunch is full of *****.
- GemStar38, on 04/03/2009, -0/+8This probably won't be their last mistake either
- socivitus, on 04/03/2009, -0/+8Leave it to Kara to squash a big ole' D—rumor.
- inactive, on 04/03/2009, -0/+7Please someone buy Twitter so paid shills can stop the flooding Digg with "Articles" about Twitter.
Seriously, you can only go so far with Top 5,10,20 Apps for Twitter before people start seeing a pattern of spam. - sockpuppets, on 04/03/2009, -0/+6It's a site where people compete to be the most narcissistic.
- GemStar38, on 04/03/2009, -1/+7Here is the TechCrunch story that went popular on Digg yesterday http://digg.com/d1npYb
- chrisblau, on 04/03/2009, -0/+5TechCrunch just can't seem to get anything right anymore.
Mashable here I come! - aaronisreal, on 04/03/2009, -1/+6You know, I might actually use Twitter if it were integrated into Gmail.
- FredFredrickson, on 04/03/2009, -0/+4Out of the frying pan and into the fire.
- jmd2121, on 04/03/2009, -0/+4Imagine that - the beating thump at the very center of the techecho chamber getting it wrong
again
not surprising - Usatrash, on 04/03/2009, -2/+6Twitter sucks my balls so hard.
- tennismac, on 04/03/2009, -0/+4Google already bought a "Twitter" in Jaiku. http://www.jaiku.com/
Now google needs to decide exactly what they're going to do with it.
Why the purchase has failed so far?
http://anttiakonniemi.com/2008/11/12/jaiku-why-did - FredFredrickson, on 04/03/2009, -0/+3You just answered your own question.
- ratbear, on 04/03/2009, -0/+3Is it any suprise that it was Michael Arrington who started this rumor? Why do people still listen to him?
- zdwade, on 04/04/2009, -0/+3old people and politicans use it, nuff said. plus company hasnt made a single dollar of profit yet. sounds like a great idea to buy a company before it makes money.
- kenvsryu, on 04/03/2009, -0/+3twitter is a waste of time and a waste of money.
- jonglebeats, on 04/03/2009, -0/+3the *****?
- boomerang42, on 04/03/2009, -2/+5Why is TechCrunch always so full of *****? They're like that gossipy blonde chick I knew in middle school.
- exzacklyright, on 04/03/2009, -5/+8who even uses twitter? Too much media hype about it IMO.
- drex8, on 04/03/2009, -0/+3Twiggle sounds nice and cute.
This is how a teenage girl would Twiggle.
"Oh I Twiggled!" -face all blushed-
-does'es a twirl- - aletoledo, on 04/03/2009, -1/+4Twitter is the biggest scam I think I've ever seen being played. I'd like to hear a single redeeming quality to this pile of poo. It's like a giant experiment with viral marketing and I'm waiting for someone to finally explain their findings to everyone.
- aletoledo, on 04/03/2009, -1/+4It's a viral campaign to somehow make a few people rich through widely popularizing them.
- zboyet, on 04/03/2009, -1/+4Twitter is the pet rock of 2009. Great for the inventor but all the consumers are ***** retards.
- Wreckage, on 04/03/2009, -0/+3Twoogle just does not sound right.
- sockpuppets, on 04/03/2009, -1/+3Twiggle?
Gwitter?
Gotter?
Gootwit? - lilmentor3, on 04/03/2009, -5/+7what the ***** is Twitter?
- delynnium, on 04/03/2009, -0/+2Gootwit FTW.
- tennismac, on 04/03/2009, -0/+2Technology is already there. Google bought out Jaiku a while ago which came out before Twitter. Now google needs to decide exactly what they're going to do with it.
http://www.jaiku.com/
http://anttiakonniemi.com/2008/11/12/jaiku-why-did ... - EnigmaOX, on 04/03/2009, -0/+2TwitterCrunch reported the story !
- dazparkour, on 04/03/2009, -0/+2Twoogle.
- inactive, on 04/09/2009, -0/+2no they didn't
- MavRevMatt, on 04/06/2009, -0/+2He employs himself. As long as people keep visiting his sites, and he keeps selling ads he'll have a job.
- inactive, on 04/06/2009, -1/+2You know Google tried to buy Digg and got turned down, right?
- inactive, on 04/03/2009, -1/+2You have to trust Kara, she's face deep in Google
- diggduggDOOM, on 04/03/2009, -0/+1"I'd like to hear a single redeeming quality to this pile of poo."
I don't think there is one for the average user, at least no more so than any of the many other available services out there (email, text messages, blog sites).
On the other hand, it's great for marketing because it projects a (supposed) image of current, cool, connected relevance that companies are so desperate to show to tech-savvy youth. In addition to that, I think Twitter wants to be the center of gossip for the internet. That is incredibly valuable data for marketers wanting to cash in on trends as soon as possible.
In short, like a few other social media sites (MySpace, Facebook), Twitter is all about convincing people that it's a great idea to give up privacy for the good of advertising.
It was hilarious to see Biz Stone (one of the founders of Twitter) give the classic salesman line to Colbert last night. He said something like "Twitter is the messaging service we didn't know we needed until we had it". No thanks, Biz. - notty11, on 04/03/2009, -1/+2How does Michael Arrington still have a job ? I heard he is a pedophile and not to mention a inaccurate "journalist"
- MavRevMatt, on 04/06/2009, -0/+1Google's not doing anything with Jaiku, they released it as open-source a while ago.
The problem with trying to compete against Twitter is that you need the community and users around it to make it great. That's why people keep going back to Twitter, because it's where everyone is at. It'll take something like MySpace-Facebook to really create a split. - inactive, on 04/03/2009, -1/+2I wish they were.
- Kash0341, on 04/05/2009, -0/+1Opppsss. I read it also here http://www.arabianbusiness.com/551590-google-repor ... . Mean Giant remains to be a Giant... :)
- iJessicaRabbit, on 04/03/2009, -1/+2This just in.... Google is NOT trying to "take over" the entire internet.
- streak, on 04/04/2009, -2/+2Heh, why use gmail or twitter? They're both just avenues to your loss of privacy.
- cozinator, on 04/03/2009, -3/+3This is the same rumor process we went through when they bought YouTube. I'm guessing it'll happen.
- AudioLoveMagic, on 04/03/2009, -3/+3Couldn't come to agreeable terms in less than 140 characters.
- inactive, on 04/03/2009, -4/+3The twitter guys are already rich after selling blogger to google so there is no pressure on them to sell twitter. Thats why they are probably running with it and just seeing where it goes and having fun.
I think Digg is the opposite, if a buyer came in with millions it would be gone in a second.

What is Digg?
