Google Gmail IMAP has disappeared

  • tgarza17, on 04/17/2008, -0/+8This problem started around 3:00pm Central time on 4/16. I have 62 users using Outlook 2003, connecting to Gmail accounts via IMAP. Suddenly, everyone was getting error messages that IMAP was not available for their account. Logging into webmail, the IMAP option on the settings page was GONE. I almost freaked out. After all, Google Apps' Email is BETA, so I figured maybe they decided to reserve IMAP access for the Premium accounts, and I was prepared to be really mad about not getting any notice about the change. But upon visiting the Google Apps forum, I found that Google was getting thousands of support calls, were very aware of the issue. They had it fixed in about an hour. Which is surprising for Google.     However, not only did the service stop working - but the option for it also vanished from the config page - which is bound to start people talking about what is going on.

  • bassman730, on 04/17/2008, -0/+1I haven't had any problems with Gmail's IMAP. It still shows up in gmail, and there hasn't been any problems when connecting using Apple Mail.
