- Brightside, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Ok, big deal?
When is Google's birthday?
Google opened its doors in September 1998. The exact date when we celebrate our birthday has moved around over the years, depending on when people feel like having cake. For more on Google's history:
http://www.google.com/corporate/history.html - marathon851, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1this has WAY too many diggs for being such a stupid "story"
- xN8x, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1They're rich, they do what they want.
- bonlebon, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Wikipedia should shut some holes here:
Convinced that the pages with the most links to them from other highly relevant Web pages must be the most relevant pages associated with the search, Page and Brin tested their thesis as part of their studies, and laid the foundation for their search engine. The domain 'www.google.com' was registered on September 15, 1997. They formally incorporated their company, Google, Inc., on September 7, 1998 at a friend's garage in Menlo Park, California. In February 1999, the company moved into offices at 165 University Avenue in Palo Alto, home to a number of other noted Silicon Valley technology startups. Google received a big break in 1999 when one of the most popular search engines, Altavista, relaunched itself as a user Web entry point, or portal. This unexpected change alienated part of Altavista's user base. Google quickly outgrew its University Avenue home. After outgrowing two subsequent sites, the company settled into a complex of buildings (known by some as "The Googleplex") in Mountain View at 1600 Amphitheater Parkway, in 2003. - FaNtAsMa, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Does this even matter? Ok, so someone at google ***** up and put a 2 in front of the 7.. Big whoop.. at least they fixed ti.
- bonlebon, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1@swankboy
Roflmao!!! - tayq1, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1the Queen has two birthdays. do you think they think they are the Queen?
- serra, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0As long as they changed the Google logo and made it all cute, like they do on holidays and special days, I don't care if they do it at a wrong time. :P
- Jeffrey903, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I noticed this earlier today. Google is still awesome though :-)
- Codom, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0That's what they get for skipping elementary school.
- abadbronc, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1Oh my gosh! A typo? No WAY!!
- digital.dreamer, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Oh god another google diggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggg sorry I fell asleep.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Hmmm yes, quite odd but i also noticed, the cakes popped up, then later they changed the L in google to 7. Correct me if i am incorrect.
- Shownarou, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Hahaha, I noticed this earlier today when someone at school asked if it was their birthday. They went to the website and laughed at me when it said it was.. Shows them!
- magik, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Haha, that's even better than Microsoft messing up... but then again, we're all so used to Microsoft messing up!
- muffins, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0wowzor. who sits around and figures these things out.
- sufferingant, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Amen hamilogre, Amen
- bonlebon, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Bunch of idiots, the ones at google.....
- bonlebon, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0One question, how many diggers work or are related with google?, too much fanatism can't come for free.
- austinhamilton, on 01/16/2008, -0/+0Wow everyone is defending google... If Microsoft were to do something like this, I bet the reaction would be quite different.
- KevinJ, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Whatever google says is always right. They are perfect...except for Web Accelerator, but we don't talk abou that!
- slickfrick24, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1Wow, if you have so much time on your hands that you realize they messed up on the birthday of their website, you have way to much ***** time on your hands. And I think that headline made you a complete loser.......congratulations!
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1HOLY CRAP, HILARIOUS!!!! A TYPO!! No dig...
- CanuckMakem, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Erm... so?
- vsLAN, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Its probably not that he sits around and thinks up this ***** all day.. When Digg has already posted the story of Google turning 7 at the begining of the month and then you see it AGAIN today.. you can figure it out on your own.. its not that hard to see google screwed up. But anyway if you actually read digg you would have seen that Google turned 7 on Sept. 7th.
- mojofrojo, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Hehe I like the quote of the day.
We confess our little faults to persuade people that we have no large ones. - awfulshot, on 10/12/2007, -1/+07 is not leet for l.. its t.. i dont know what googte things its doing

- fatb0b, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0yeah... who cares? it was probably just a typo. Are you going to digg every typo on the internet? That'll be some good reading.
- jesusphreak, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0I don't understand why there isn't just a Google category. The amount of frontpage links Google gets is ridiculous.
- TheNik, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0Shouldn't it be lolacaust?

- h4lofourt33n, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0Who cares, so the richers made a mistake.
- JimXugle, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0Haha. Google got pwnt... by Google?

- pietistic, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0And all the digg users said, 'Amen.'
- swankboy, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0Ugh, this is getting so old. Instead of this incessant Google masturbation, go find a woman. They are the ones who generally have longer hair and bumps on their chests. You have sex with them and spend time with them and it brings you pleasure (mostly). Call her "Google" if that helps you get off, although I doubt it should take you any longer than three seconds anyway.
- Pace, on 10/12/2007, -2/+0meh
- themoosiah, on 10/12/2007, -2/+0ummm... why?
- jediboytj, on 10/12/2007, -2/+0...and? who doesnt try to cover up their mistakes.... last time I checked, there are 'things' running google are called 'humans'... and those crazy little things are not perfect and make mistakes... I dont see how this is news worthy
+lame - pietistic, on 10/12/2007, -2/+0Google digg # 13,893,230,923 and, still, no one gives a *****.
