- kbeeveer46, on 01/20/2008, -0/+92So there's finally a way to remove Experts Exchange from the list of results??? I swear, that thing shows up on the first page for any technical question I have.
- rpi22, on 01/20/2008, -6/+76Hmmm... where have i seen this before?
- Barbosa, on 01/20/2008, -0/+55I think it sounds like a useful addition for me. I repeat searches a lot and I would like the chance to move the search results around. And If you want you can easily go back to unaltered search results.
- corevette, on 01/20/2008, -2/+44so...i went to the site, what now
- allyant, on 01/20/2008, -1/+22Go to http://www.google.com/experimental/
And click join the experiment, I think thats how it works.... But it's not showing on it yet... - capiCrimm, on 01/20/2008, -1/+21how am I supposed to get my info about expert sex change's then?
- EGOvoruhk, on 01/20/2008, -0/+20If only digg had the "X" button, so I could save everyone from suffering you
- wiifm69, on 01/20/2008, -2/+22mmmmm digg a few months ago...
- Jon211, on 01/20/2008, -0/+18Or just put -"experts-exchange" in your search
- CitizenX10, on 01/20/2008, -0/+17Same here. It seems like every problem I have they have an alleged answer to. Does anyone know if they really work or a waste of money?
- Numbski, on 01/20/2008, -0/+16..or just view source. They just use css/javascript to mask the answers, but the answers are right there in the page's sourcecode. :P
- inactive, on 01/20/2008, -9/+24mmmm reddit?
- capiCrimm, on 01/20/2008, -0/+15They just game google so they can get on top, but it's like any old forum. You can find any info they have for free somewhere else.
- epohs, on 01/20/2008, -0/+11I'm in the US and I don't see this option listed either. I see:
- Alternate views for search results
- Keyword suggestions
- Keyboard shortcuts
- Left-hand search navigation
- Right-hand contextual search navigation - rtaibah, on 05/22/2009, -3/+14Hmmm taking a page from Mahalo's book...about time...this will crush Mahalo :(
- inactive, on 01/20/2008, -2/+13i didn't see the experiment... maybe it's only in US... :-(
- ioannusdeverani, on 01/20/2008, -0/+11Welcome to Digg. I am gratified that you are experimenting with the comment system, and hope that you continue to experience Digg in a way that doesn't tick everyone off.
- ermau, on 01/20/2008, -1/+12Not anymore..
- Borgcube, on 01/20/2008, -0/+11Fortunately you can bury him.
- cisox, on 01/20/2008, -0/+11Or view the Google Cached Results which have the answers visible at the bottom.
- shamess, on 01/20/2008, -0/+10Are you saying that you think Google will use our modified results for generic SERPs? Of course they will. It's stupid to think they won't. I doubt they're hiding this fact.
- warlokaz2004, on 01/20/2008, -0/+10I always feel like a kid in a candy store when I hit the page for Google Labs.
ALL HAIL GOOGLE!!!! - avinds, on 01/20/2008, -0/+9you don't pay google for organic search results, you have to pay for the sponsored results.
- Bando, on 01/20/2008, -0/+9Or block cookies.
I added this to my exception list(block):
www.experts-exchange.com*
Also make sure you delete existing cookies from them. Then scroll to the bottom of the page for answers. - ioannusdeverani, on 01/20/2008, -0/+9Mahalo really has nothing to crush.
- JoaoPe, on 01/20/2008, -0/+8Thanks for the info. I've never realize that!
- Awspire, on 01/20/2008, -0/+8or click "Cached" on the Google link to reveal their discussion.
- BaroqueW, on 01/20/2008, -4/+12actually if you use the "cached" function of google, you can see the answers.
Then Experts Exchange becomes very useful :) - markthegoth, on 01/20/2008, -0/+8or better stil block him
- xy666, on 01/20/2008, -1/+8I think this is usefull to kill spam in engines.
- insomniacal, on 01/20/2008, -5/+12There's no way Google will leave that information untapped. It'll be quietly figured into Google's secret search algorithms.
- ahpro, on 01/20/2008, -0/+6I like it!
- shamess, on 01/20/2008, -0/+6Well, I'm betting a lot of people hadn't seen it, or it wouldn't get dugg up.
- jstohler, on 01/20/2008, -0/+6Why isn't this considered black-hatting by EE? They're showing a different page to the search engines than they are to readers, which is a clear Google terms violations.
- 80hd, on 01/20/2008, -0/+5Who pissed in your cheerios this morning?
- adamawick, on 01/20/2008, -1/+6C'mon--does anyone *ever* want search results from about.com?!
- dood, on 01/20/2008, -0/+5I've been reporting the results when I see 'em. Maybe we're not noisy enough yet.
- Pardis, on 01/20/2008, -0/+5so because it is old and some people may not have see it, it should not be posted? by that thought movies should only be played one day, and no more reruns on tv. because people have seen them
- mtvkilledusall, on 01/20/2008, -4/+9I have to agree... using the cached view of the page and scrolling to the bottom of the experts exchange page you can see the answers. Yes, it has helped me on occasion. I don't know why the guy above me is getting dugg down. Probably by people who think they know every answer to every technology question.
- wolfing, on 01/20/2008, -1/+6Indeed. First of all, companies can't "pay" their way up in Google. What companies can do is bid for terms and they would show in separate regions of the results. The 'organic' results are 100% results from their algorithms.
Also, I don't think they would really want this new personal modifications to affect their general algorithms. They are not stupid, they know they can't trust people with anything.
It is a good addition though, regardless if another company did it first (I just hope they are paying their royalties, or the lawsuit will come faster than I can click on Submit Comment (specially since I have to type in the freaking scratched letters lol) - unusualbob, on 01/20/2008, -0/+4Just use google cached results to see the answers at the bottom.
- joe57spike, on 01/20/2008, -2/+6As far as I know the modifications only affect the results of the person who made them.
- lougoose, on 01/20/2008, -0/+4Which experiment? I can't find it....
- w00tster, on 01/20/2008, -3/+7To be honest, the ability to "suggest" search results seems like a Googlebombers dream.
While it might be funny to get Dick Cheney's home page if you search for Vlad the Impaler, it certainly screws up the simplicity of search. - Jawsh91, on 01/20/2008, -2/+6expert sexchange
:) - tecmec, on 01/20/2008, -1/+5used to be, but not any more
- flarn2006, on 01/20/2008, -0/+4The blurred out answers are "encrypted" with ROT13.
- misterS, on 01/20/2008, -0/+4quietly? it's the whole point to modify the search parameters by letting the user rate the results!
- norbiu, on 01/20/2008, -0/+4Wrong tab.
- smackhero, on 01/20/2008, -0/+3that's not the point. the information on EE is usually freely available elsewhere, and you don't have to jump through any hoops to get it. it's just annoying that they are the top results when you have to either look at the google cached version, or disable CSS/look at the source.
