See how easy this could have been? - PercyKittenz, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Here's an interesting place. To find Skywalker Ranch, George Lucas' private estate, put these coordinates in the search bar: 38° 03'52.21" N, 122°38'48.80" W
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Yay, the most dugg story of the day. :)
- drpunkerz, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Aye. I second that, Castle.
This thing looks great! Pretty cool, stuff. And I thought google maps was great... :o - Castle, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Wow this has great potential... I have not read everything but there could be great opportunity in politics, fund raising, any thing with regional demographics. Now all Google needs is a good API. I guess I will have to start looking for that.
And it is a great way to waste time at work today - ethernet, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Did everyone feel it?...I did...almost imperceptible...but, the earth just got a little smaller this morning. ** This is Huge!! ** Everyone must try this and I challenge you not to smile a little on that first search.
- dazzed, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0This is amazing. It seems you can get so much closer than you can with Google Maps.
- Paiway, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Bah, doesn't work under *nix. Feh.
- test5477, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0no mac, no me. Well maybe I'll put it on other computer...but they need a mac version.
- whoslacks, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I'd say it's alot better than keyhole, UI is better...oh and it's free.
- CoochiePoo, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Mine doesn't work. Tries to startup and then exits after a message saying something about not logging out properly and removing a earth cache file.
- ref-d, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Yeah, this is keyhole, basically. Google bought them out a while back.
Been using this for a while, shame my house is just one big blur :( - scotty6969, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0nice, its basically keyhole
- ozskier, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0This just isn't fair... Mapquest and Yahoo maps just got 0wn3d.
- dmh11686, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Kicks the pants off of Google Maps.
- PacoDEmu, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Ummm... NASA WorldWind anybody??
I get the feeling I'll be running into the same server connection errors again, but I will give it a try when I get home from work. - entr0py, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0w00t!!!
- caporion, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0downloading now... :) you beat me to this.
- flipkid, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0anyone going to try the Pro version? and why does one of the screenshots they have say "keyhole.com" on it?
- IraqManiac, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0N1CE!!! this is sweet you can like see everything and it's 3D, well sorta, the elevations are 3D... but this is awesome you can zoom in so much farther, it's just about keyhole - and FR33
+digg this - aaronlidman, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0ehh i love world wind, this better be damn good to be it.
- entr0py, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0google makes me jizz my pants.
and google bought keyhole, which is why this is the same app, only fr333r - mikeroq, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0is it me or does it get very blurry closeup, or does it take a while to focus, cause it focuesed at 5385ft very fast
- spadin, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0it's keyhole, but free! Of course, you need to buy the plus or the pro if you want to use they real cool stuff like Castle said. I hope the Jehovah's witnesses don't use this for walk lists :) just kidding.
- PercyKittenz, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0It looks like this can do some useful things that World Wind couldn't. Like it uses Google's search engine and ability to do driving directions. It says the Plus version can read waypoints from a GPSr, so I might buy it for that if it's compatable with my Magellan SporTrak. I see a lot of potential here that goes beyond Keyhole or World Wind.
- übermensch, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0oh my dear lord the amount of beauty to this amazes me beyond what i can hanedl
we need more links and/ore coordinates to cool places - deoxymoron, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Mac support? Come on Google...
- kfstickman, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Mmmmm not bad but if you think about it it's just like google maps. Just makes me want to buy the pro version...
- kfstickman, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Mmmmm not bad but if you think about it it's just like google maps. Just makes me want the pro version...
- Scatropolis, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0....kind of looks like a star destroyer.
- rharris63, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Check out the Eiffel Tower in Paris... huge shadow on the river. It's on the west side of Paris on the inside of the river... 48° 51'32.92" N, 2°17'37.64" W
- mahamadoca, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Hello everyone , i want you to take a look at the Pyramids of Egypt.:) by Google Earth
coordinates.. : 29°58'33.03"N 31° 7'50.05"E
i love this program..:) - rharris63, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0duh! sorry, I had west instead of east. Try these instead: 48°51'29.51" N, 2°17'39.69" E
- rharris63, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0sorry, for some reason those coordinates don't work when you copy and paste... I'm not sure why...
- brucebeh, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0is it just me.. or does it take a while to load up clear images??
i have a 7mbit internet connection... - rharris63, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Bruce, Google only has high-res images for certain areas (usually identifiable by a dark box as you zoom in on a state - for instance, Indianapolis has a large box around it, but Bloomington, IN does not) - only certain areas have the detailed graphics.
- PercyKittenz, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0For all you terrorists, here's a useful site I found to locate the private homes and offices of the leaders of the United States! I used it to locate the Bush Ranch in Crawford, Texas, which is located here: 31°34'35.62" N, 97°32'19.15"W. The building to the north, by the lake is the main house and the one south of the main road is the guest house. See what other places you can find!
http://eyeball.sabotage.org/ - rharris63, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Hollywood sign in Hollywood, CA - 34°08'02.15" N, 118° 19'17.00" W
St. Louis Arch - 38°37'30.24" N, 90°11'7.16" W - PercyKittenz, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Did anyone else notice that Area 51 is bookmarked under My Places? Well, if the secret weren't already out before, it is now.
- cruelpupet, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I havnt downloaded it, but from the screen shots it looks very similar to free software NASA released . Nasa's was cooler though...you could view natural disasters like floods and forrest fires.
- G-RaZoR, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I can see how this will be really useful with places like CNN, NBC, etc.... :)!
- peerk, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Way cooler than world wind.
- jamsi, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Yeah google earth is awesome! Theres a wiki up that you can add coordinates and stuff check it out - www.explorege.com
