We can see your name, we don't need your little "thus saith" after each comment. - jus1haz2, on 10/12/2007, -3/+16Dude I hike all the time, use Google for everything, Digg and probably know more about computers than you.
- jwucd, on 10/12/2007, -1/+11Yeah, and if you're using your Google Earth hiking map and get lost in a blurred zone you know you've found a nude sunbathing spot.
Lost and loving it. - BGFeltenink, on 10/12/2007, -1/+7Think of it as more of a "slow IM." You're like a character in a play, or forum as the case may be, and you're voicing your part. You wouldn't say, "Wherefore art thou Juliet?. . . Romeo."
That's why the name is in the headline above the text, it's not a letter or an email. It's a literary speech bubble. - Scruffydan, on 10/12/2007, -1/+5egawd no! it's bad enough to hike for hours only to arrive at a viewpoint/summit to find some yuppie yakking away on his cell phone.
- wheres, on 10/12/2007, -3/+6you mean you don't want to see 101 ways to use your camera phone that aren't practical? i mean, they show you how to make a shopping list with your camera phone!
- jus1haz2, on 10/12/2007, -3/+6Wow this is awesome!
- stalefries, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3..except there's no WiFi out in the woods.
- chewitt, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2wow, holy doesn't work at all on oahu, batman
- Arcesius, on 10/12/2007, -2/+4hmm... there really don't seem to be many trails shown, outside of the national parks... am I missing something, or does everything else still need to be added?
- keithguh, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Official Google blog on the same exact subject: http://googleblog.blogspot.com/2007/04/hikes-on-fly.html

- Junkyarddawg, on 10/12/2007, -3/+3Hiking trails?!
Wouldn't it be better to fix basic functionality like searching on the names of at least the larger waterways in the world?
(Try searching for "Nile" or "River Nile" in google earth. Hilarity ensues. For an encore, how about "Amazon river" or the "Congo river". That's right, Google Earth can not find the three largest rivers on Earth.)
Or how about fixing the display so you can display the names of cities also in countries outside North America? - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -2/+1Guys, just block this attention-whore. click on the light blue cirlcle to the right of his name. Namefags make baby jesus cry.
- aldomatic, on 10/12/2007, -2/+2now you have no reason not to get lost..
- andrewacomb, on 10/12/2007, -3/+2If only there was WiFi on the trails...
- jus1haz2, on 10/12/2007, -5/+3lol check my site dumbass... I had a ton of pics but now i only have like 4 (All from backpacking trips) and you prolly think the 7 layer model refers to a burrito
lol - HyperJack, on 10/12/2007, -2/+0Ahh...well...that isn't too far away either.
Remember, the best things come to those who wait...or those who hike ;-) - themouth, on 10/12/2007, -4/+1Hi there jackass,
In 2005 I thru-hiked the Appalachian Trail, all 2174.9 miles northbound from Georgia to Maine. The majority of the time I carried not only my nokia series 60 smartphone but also a fold out bluetooth keyboard for journaling. I read not my favorite social sites (wink wink) but also my email from some of the most remote locations in the US (amazing how cell signals carry from one high point to another).
Now that I'm back in "the real world" and preparing/planning my next hike (short or long distance), I'll make good use of this addition to google earth.

GA-ME 2005 - donkeybat64, on 10/12/2007, -4/+2wow, what are they going to add next?
- SundayBrunch, on 10/12/2007, -5/+1And everybody is digging this because why ... you're all gonna go hiking, give me a ***** break.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -6/+1justin...you can't be too intelligent if you think it makes your look anything but alike a 12 year old to use hte word "prolly" in anything other than an SMS message. Adults don't use MySpace nad IM abbrviations. Just a little tip for trying to act grown up in the future.
- pseudojd, on 10/12/2007, -7/+1
I thinks it's lame to spam your own post. - bobcrotch, on 10/12/2007, -11/+4Is there anyway to block a certain site? Lifehacker is ***** horrible. Their stories are sooo stupid. They don't break anything and it's always like 'this just in: It's raining less today due to global warming' It's not even news or even interesting.
***** this site. - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -13/+5I like mgkwho's knack for a signiture. It makes digg feel more dignified

-=|KadsBaker - captaincoconut, on 10/12/2007, -11/+0jus1haz2, you have never been on any backpacking trips, nor have you ever hiked. And 7 layers refers to a burrito variety.
- captaincoconut, on 10/12/2007, -16/+0jus1haz2. you have never hiked before. also I know more about computers than you.
- captaincoconut, on 10/12/2007, -24/+0I doubt that anyone that has used google has ever even hiked before.
- mgkwho, on 10/12/2007, -30/+4@hopesfall: ever sign your name at the end of an email or letter?
