- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1You've got to be kidding me. Current is crap compared to the EXCELLENT news service on DirecTV that they replaced. Gore and Co. bought Newsworld International sometime last year and planned to replace it with Current for all that time. Newsworld International was arbitrarily the best cable news network you could find in the U.S. During the last 3 years, anything going on in the U.S. with anti-war protests, economic policies, foreign policies, disasters, or any other topic, I had to watch NWI to get *any* kind of real coverage. They were always fair and offered multiple perspectives (not just democrat and republican!) on a range of issues that U.S. based networks won't even whisper about. Talk about a damn shame on the last night, watching all of these people who were such an excellent and respectable news service, individually sign-off, many of them with tears in their eyes that they were losing their jobs. Then to watch the screen literally fade to black, only to watch 5 minutes later for Current TV to start. What do I see? Some jerk-off hosts standing in a non-descript studio that's supposed to look "comfy" or what the hell it is, dressed in the latest "we're chic college students" outfits. Then to see in the first hour "Pods"(their oh-so ripped-off we're cool, too term for video segments) that talk about what? Some guys base-jumping? YOU'VE GOT TO BE KIDDING ME. We lost excellent international coverage of U.S. and world events for BASE-JUMPING??? On top of that, they want us the viewers to submit content to their network. So not only do we lose an excellent source of news, but now they don't even have the budget and/or mission purpose to go out and do their own reporting?? I've watched this network periodically since then and the content has not gotten any better. The other day they were showing something about body builders in Afghanistan worshipping these 20yr old posters of Arnold Schwarzenegger. Wow... that SO makes up for knowing about how many soldiers got killed in Iraq today, or how the anti-war protests 2 weeks ago turned out. Thankfully we still have CSPAN, until they turn that into re-runs of Gilligan's Island and Nick at Night.
- civman2, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Wow. I wish they would put these on an RSS feed with a higher resolution video. These are really cool. Could on-demand news be the wave of the future? I think so.
- jscro, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0We have Current on Time Warner Cable here in Austin, we like it alot.
- digitalrao, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0i have on DirecTV . i dont watch it because al Gore owns it and G4 is becoming SpikeTV now... even 200+ channels on DirecTV seem like nothing is ever on anymore ... Current TV awhile back did and alliance or some sort with Google - put the shows on Google Video.. too much TV is bad for the brain makes you dumb and not think or care about really going on in the world.
- pudquick, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Anyone have a satellite feed that picks this station up? Apparently Current TV is on the air. I thought it was like http://channel101.com/ only serious, but they appear to be bigger: http://current.tv/about/
- mikereads, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I have Current TV, and I wouldn't say it was as bad as a small college channel--but it has a college channel feel to it. The three minute format kinda threw me off though; it was too MTV News-ish. It definately is going for the young 20's trendy hip but smart demographic.
- avg_bear, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0current is kinda like the early days of MTV mixed with CBS Sunday Morning. cool, but I doubt it will last. I do like google current though.
- quasipalm, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0digitalrao,
You're incomprehensible man. Maybe you need to follow your own advice, or maybe take a walk outside. :) - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0CurrentTV sucks.. Its like the WORST channel put on by a small college ever.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Last thing, don't digg this article. Let this article die and be burried so deep Satan can't find the thing.
- decadentmint, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0This is basically 2 diggs in one. One for Google Current and another for Current TV. My favorite portion of current tv is the screening room, you watch other peoples uploaded videos and then decide whether to give them the green light. Getting the green light puts your video on to satellite / cable television.

- diecastbeatdown, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0current tv does not suck. ive watched it quite a bit and enjoy watching it. some of the pieces they do are very interesting, i guess it all depends on how interested you are in learning new things or what others are up to.
i didn't know it only cost $100 for a blank social security card in griffin park (los angeles). so if i'm ever int he market for one, bam! the other cool thing was a spot on this guy who buys vintage shirts and dyes them, then silk screens them. i can't recall the name of the store he went to but it was a huge warehouse wher eyou buy in bulk for dirt cheap. stuff like that is interesting to me.
flame on. - trex, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I want to be able to subscribe to something like this as a podcast.
- muffins, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Nice
- Pile, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0This is another sad state of the media. 2/3rds of the display of the broadcast I saw was a hot chick with nice gazongas, and only on the lower third were there actual images of what she was talking about. I think this sums up nicely what peoples priorities are in relation to world events.
- EPeters, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0This is a story about google video and google news/current. It's not Incomprehesable-liberal-bashing-Al-Gore-defamation-fest. You need to get your A.D.H.D. under control.
- kubedawg, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0yeah current tv does suck. im suprised it wasn't previously on digg a looong time ago... i saw it on tv probably 2-3 months ago.
no digg - HuRyde, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0Old news. No digg.
- spartan777, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0google programmers should stay away from political punditry. they seem to be getting quite full of themselves.
oh, and mexicans can get cheap s.s. cards in chicago too. my mother knew that, and she lives 2 hours away, and she's a dietician. - d-rock, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0Any company that has anything to do with anything the inventor of the internet, Al Gore, will fail. And deserves to fail. Friggin' liberals...
