- Aewheros, on 10/12/2007, -1/+21That might be because no-one has ever had to spend a single dollar for using a Google service or product.
They simply aren't like Microsoft. - datagod, on 10/12/2007, -0/+12I wonder when they will blend the two interfaces, or at least dump the ugly boring Google Video interface?
I also hope they can get some better compression algorithms.
Yay Googl! - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -5/+15Google uses a Microsoft tactic... If you can't beat them, buy them out! And everyone loves google for it...
- lpcustom, on 10/12/2007, -0/+9"Advertisers have."
As it should be. Cable and satellite companies have been charging us to view advertisements for decades. Advertisers should have to pay.....consumers shouldn't unless they are actually buying a product. - illicium, on 10/12/2007, -1/+9The Google Video player has at least one advantage over the YouTube one: You can instantly go to a specific spot in a clip, and it will load and play from there
As for compression algorithms, you'd better ask Adobe, because both Google Video and YouTube are based on .flv playback (which is a Flash technology) - austindkelly, on 10/12/2007, -0/+8i love google and all, but the video interface is not very good. usually the video ends up looking like ***** on that streched screen they have on the site, espically when you look at it on abig moitor.
- PatrickFisher, on 10/12/2007, -0/+7Where does Stephen Colbert's $700 million fit into this...
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -4/+11That's because Google gives us good quality products for free and Microsoft is a bloodsucking behemoth :)
- Aewheros, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3Vandread: It's not like you are 'using' an advertisement, is it?
- Sedako, on 10/12/2007, -2/+5No, he's quoting Shang Tsung. But you're young, so linking it to Warcraft 3 is forgivable.
- Topher06, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I would cash in them stocks soon. Its not like Google's stock will remain where it is for another few years (come on, its a classic Dot Com bubble). It would be dissapointing to see over 1 billion in stock options turn into 1 million if YouTube sits on them too long and Google's bubble bursts.
- jo42, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1...and now the lawsuits begin...
- stuartjmoore, on 10/12/2007, -2/+2YouTube seems to stretch out non-4:3 videos, Google Doesn't.
My prediction (hope) is that YouTube will be user based, and Google will become the Google Video Store (including stuff like free music videos and movie trailers). - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -11/+5Advertisers have.
- MattFaber, on 10/12/2007, -9/+1Quoting the deathknight from warcarft 3 are you?
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -18/+8Google Corp. representative Mr. Qiang Tsung, when asked for his thoughts on the completed deal, gave the following comment:
YOUR SOUL IS MINE!!!!! MWAHAHAHA! - tutivlahos, on 10/12/2007, -13/+1KA CHING!
- Bara, on 10/12/2007, -15/+4You're wrong. He made a Youtube video of himself holding up a sign saying "Your soul is mine!"... obviously replacing the o's with zero's and dotting the i's with hearts.
- Battlecry, on 10/12/2007, -22/+1I'd like to take this time to point out a comment I made on a previous digg article concerning Google's acquisition that got dugg down:
"1.6 billion in stock. I'm sure theres a stipulation that they can't sell off large amounts of shares for a certain period of time, if ever. Like google has 1.6 billion in cash lying around."

Yes, I'm bitter ;)
