- twertyto, on 09/25/2008, -18/+2303It's funny how the link shows your submission is a dupe.
- jamauss, on 09/25/2008, -4/+445funny - it knows that 399,999,999,999,999 - 399,999,999,999,997 = 2.
please don't try to divide by zero though. It will break the internet. - fs88, on 09/25/2008, -4/+377Dugg for not being a jpeg with FAIL in huge block letters.
- inactive, on 09/25/2008, -12/+374that's MATHED UP!!!!
- seretta24, on 09/25/2008, -17/+274***** THING SUCKS!
- ha3er0, on 06/16/2009, -14/+226I accidentally 0.
- seddyei, on 09/25/2008, -15/+224Anything above 333 333 333 333 333 is the same.
- SEOhack, on 09/25/2008, -15/+217it seems like there should some sort of canadian joke here, eh?
- dawnraid101, on 09/25/2008, -4/+203So 1/(399,999,999,999,999 - 399,999,999,999,998) = O SHI
- DocOwnage, on 09/25/2008, -11/+164This is stupid. Google is only off by .00000000000025%
- ZombieSociety, on 09/25/2008, -4/+140In Google's defense, if you need a calculator for that, you probably can't see with your helmet on, anyway.
- Uberperson, on 09/25/2008, -0/+126Note to self: Never use Google calculator when attempting to count grains of sand.
- KokomoNYC, on 09/25/2008, -0/+1223999999999999999-3999999999999987 = 12
:)
3999999999999999-3999999999999988 = 0
:( - worldchanger, on 09/25/2008, -15/+133Google: "Oh crap. I accidentally the equation. Is this dangerous?"
- edicius, on 09/25/2008, -2/+96Right, for something COMPLETELY different.
- EmitStop, on 09/25/2008, -27/+120And how the URL is _3. I wish the dupe check worked better.
Oh well. The other one didn't get FP, so might as well give it another chance since google has yet to fix it. - worldchanger, on 09/25/2008, -6/+92WE'LL DO IT LIVE!!
- Preacherman, on 09/25/2008, -2/+82Agreed. Since when is subtraction expected to be precise?
- DeathJux, on 09/25/2008, -2/+78The whole 0?
- patbon, on 09/25/2008, -1/+74Oh thank GOD
Google Canada does exist - inactive, on 09/25/2008, -21/+90Pretty ***** bad, Google. Maybe I don't want your phone after all.
- Tulle, on 09/25/2008, -3/+64America: Canada's Mexico.
- TnTBass, on 09/25/2008, -3/+65"Oh well. The other one didn't get FP, so might as well give it another chance since google has yet to fix it."
Actually, no, you might as well not give it "another chance". Just digg it if you like it. That's why they have that button.
This whole "I want to be popular on the internets" thing is really annoying. - state08, on 09/25/2008, -6/+66ah *****, we're all ***** now.
- wdr1, on 09/25/2008, -3/+63I found another bug: .999999999999999999999999999.... = 1.00000000000...!!!!!
Oh wait, that's actually correct. - kashk5, on 09/25/2008, -1/+56Must be for very large values of 399,999,999,999,998
- MtheoryX, on 09/25/2008, -6/+57"The other one didn't get FP, so might as well give it another chance..."
I'm pretty sure that's EXACTLY the excuse MyBabyMan has given, repeatedly, for his dupe submissions. - bittdude, on 09/25/2008, -4/+53***** IT!!
- Balk2K, on 09/25/2008, -1/+50I'd like to publicly apologise for accidentally using "it's" where I should have used "its"
I am deeply ashamed. Anybody who dugg my comment up will have their diggs returned. - silverbulletky, on 09/25/2008, -2/+51Wow.. and I subtract 399,999,999,999,999 - 399,999,999,999,998 with a calculator at least 10 times a day! All this time I have been so wrong!!!!
- inactive, on 09/25/2008, -1/+43Trust me. There's no way I will be forgetting about porn. In fact... brb.
- kplo, on 04/01/2009, -11/+53doesn't that just mean the title has been used before?
- inditech, on 09/25/2008, -5/+46I'll SIN here as well, COS is it was worth a LOG
- ninjaturtles1, on 09/25/2008, -0/+41I thought if you type google into google that will break the internet?
- xaeon, on 09/25/2008, -1/+41Calculators are people too!
- gritta, on 09/25/2008, -1/+39THERE'S NO WORDS ON IT!!
- parkamark, on 09/25/2008, -2/+40This is nothing more than internal rounding. Any other calculator is the same; they all store numbers in bit registers - if the numbers you are trying to compute exceed the capacity of these, then rounding occurs which is why the above happens.
A similar thing happens with: http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&q=1000000000000 ...
It seems Google's limit is around 15 significant digits, before it starts having to internally approximate numbers. Big deal, anyone who doesn't know this needs to brush up on their knowledge of computers. Burying this because it just shouldn't be on the front page of Digg.
*sigh* - dOOBiEx213, on 09/25/2008, -1/+38...and you're duping the first comment.
- stickyman, on 09/25/2008, -0/+37is that bad?
- Bic823, on 09/25/2008, -0/+35just remember... porn
- Lewie, on 09/25/2008, -1/+35NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
- cawpin, on 09/25/2008, -0/+35Also, there is no way it didn't show up as a dupe. It has almost the exact same title. It's funny how the dupe finder always works for me when I try to submit stuff.

http://digg.com/tech_news/Google_Calculator_FAIL_4 - yacks, on 09/25/2008, -1/+34I tried dividing zero by zero.. I think i created a blackhole.
- bitterbug, on 09/25/2008, -1/+34TnTBass:
I'm digging you up. Deal with it. - Medicamusic, on 10/28/2008, -4/+37I would love to meet the person that found this out... to publicly belittle him or her. most likely him.
- Gogogo111, on 09/25/2008, -2/+34The whole equation?!?!?!
- JoeB4ever, on 09/25/2008, -6/+35Damn Canadians and their floppy heads
- bluemist, on 09/25/2008, -0/+28What seddyei said is right if your expected answer is 1.
What I found is that anything above 333 333 333 333 334 subtracted by (the number - 1) will equal a wrong answer of 0.
Example:
333 333 333 333 335 - 333 333 333 333 334 = 0
but
333 333 333 333 334 - 333 333 333 333 333 = 1 - Speed, on 09/25/2008, -2/+30The sad thing is that someone was actually typing random math equations into google just to see if there was some kind of a ***** up.
