- ed.2112, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3I have to say it: ALL YOUR BASE ARE BELONG TO GOOGLE!
- jesusphreak, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2This service is going to get a ridiculous amount of spam.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1google can't seem to get the idea that many people don't want their websites indexed by google. i am so tired of seeing hits by bots. some comply with the robots.txt some don't. when the ones that don't index you then google gets it anyway. what i want is a universal... don't call... i want google and the rest to give me somewhere to exclude myself...
- goggyy, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Still do not understand what that is. Sounds like google can do just about anything and it will get accepted by a legion of fans.
Well, it's a good thing they accept porno, there is simply not enough porn on the net. - allenu, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2Doesn't "Al Qaeda" mean "The Base"? I'll let you draw your own conclusions.

- ubbyba, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0you can post rss feeds, That means everything on the digg rss could go straight to google base
- leadx, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Awesome... Just launced a bunch of ads. hey it's free!
- jesusphreak, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I should add to that...I'm predicting a huge failure. This is gonna get used by all kinds of people for the wrong reasons and Google won't be getting much of a return on it.
- tfratzke, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0"also google analytics has a problem, it said data gathering will be completed in less than 12 hours and its been about 24 hours now and no dad collected, but google says the code has been installed correctly."
Same problem here - freakystyley, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Niiice... can't say the same about Google Analytics though... I'm experiencing some problems with it.
- pinkfireball, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0uh, grats on being the OP

- mentor972, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Tried to add item and got this.....
"Cannot save item - you have exceeded the maximum of 200 items."
hmmmm - duckseason, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0interestingly they left out 'paypal' as a form of payment...probably cause Google wallet is just around the corner
- orbitalpunk, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0i dont like it. I searched for a camera "canon 20d" and got 120 results from the same store chain.
- ale8boy14, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0seems like wikipedia with ads to me.
- sahaskatta, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1no problem in firefox 1.0.7, but didnt work in v1.5beta

works fine -> http://googleblog.blogspot.com/2005/11/first-base.html
also google analytics has a problem, it said data gathering will be completed in less than 12 hours and its been about 24 hours now and no dad collected, but google says the code has been installed correctly. - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0wow, first time this has been on digg when its been offically launched by Google!
- ivancio, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0genetic, if you are logged with you gmail account that should work automatically.
- lieumorrison, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0In regards to stuff expiring in 31 days... it looks like 'active items' expire into an 'inactive items' folder, and it seems like all you have to do is just reactivate it again. If this is true, I don't think this is a bad feature because it causes users to keep an eye on of their info and frees up resources when stuff is ignored by the item creator.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0"i dont like it. I searched for a camera "canon 20d" and got 120 results from the same store chain."
yea search for AMD 64, you get one AMD 64 3700, and 120 of the exact same laptop from the exact same store which has an AMD processor. It needs some work - MalDON, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Its still new people, there probably isn't a lot of information indexed yet. Give it a few weeks and then you might be able to find anything you ever wanted.
- duckseason, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0yeah i agree..this thing is destinted to be spam heaven
- DJB31st, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0i'm with pukstpr, looks promising and will no doubt be a great product, but needs work on removing the companys spam, how about an option to only see personal listings that are hosted actually on the base?
- Pinyo, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Sounds like a mix between Del.icio.us and Craigslist. Google is getting scary.
- crash2005, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0It's NOT user Frindly
- pierre, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0items expire after 31 days?? that sucks... i dont get this one...
- echimu, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I'm getting error :(
For input string: "-5.5"
Error 500
Ok so what the hell base is all about? is it like wiki? Anyone any idea, as i'm getting error right now... - grecorj, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Items/services for sale expire in 31 days (or less); other "stuff" never seems to expire. I presume at some point a premium version will allow you to list items longer. But 31 days seems reasonable for most things. I wonder if you can sell a house?
- nymphetamine, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0funny how you actually get a result when you search for 'digg' on gbase.
- tritium, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0So what's the point??
- ArtVandelay, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Good lord the recipe tag is clutch.
- Sutrannu, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1There's not enough crap online. Google wants to help.
- longman2g, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0seriously, another search thingy, what's the big deal?
- ArtVandelay, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0It still needs work, but it has something craiglist lacks and severely needs: Powerful search.
- rhyno2000, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0To those having problems with Google Analytics... check again this afternoon.
I installed the code Monday morning, and didn't see any data until 10am today (Wednesday). Looks like it took longer than "12 hours", but it's there now, and it's very cool.
Anti-threadjack: Posted a quickie item on Base... but, I'm still not really sure what it IS, haha. - a.wulf, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0repalmer
- just put your content behind a password. you can't index what you can't see. even google can't. problem solved... - genen, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Seems to work fine - I just put up my car for sale on it - will see if it gets any leads (cheap car $1799)
- kittynipples, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0why is everything google badged as being "beta"?
- absurd, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0all your base.. that's a good one. I haven't heard that before, not even when i hears it on slashdot, digg, slashdot, then digg again. Good work. Google base is sweet. You can store crap and surf it. I can't belive they could think that up. That *****'s crazy b.
- amitpagarwal, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0http://labnol.blogspot.com/2005/11/google-base-opportunity-for-bloggers.html
Big opportunity for Bloggers to sell their services on Google Base. - daurkin, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0Oh my gosh this thing sucks. It's nothing like a craig's list. I would rather have a browse feature by city and classification
- ph3rny, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0All your google base are belong to us
- elfuego, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0wow, it's like Craigslist without being able to browse!
- soccerob, on 10/12/2007, -2/+0dangit ed.2112.... i was gonna use the "all your base are belong to google" line, but i see i'm too late... sigh
