- ttamshadbolt, on 10/11/2007, -4/+27How about IMAP support?
- fikustree, on 10/11/2007, -2/+16I can't wait to delete outlook!
- Fratm, on 10/11/2007, -0/+11This isn't a free service, they are only going to offer this to the premier google apps accounts.. Those who are using the free version of google apps, will not get this feature.
-Fratm - Bara, on 10/11/2007, -3/+12Can we migrate Hotmail emails to Gmail? I really hope so...
- alexmuller, on 10/11/2007, -0/+5FTA: "Mail migration currently supports only those email servers with an IMAP interface."
That's how Google Apps transfers old email up - if you're referring to IMAP support for regular Google accounts, it's still 'coming soon' - though this might mean it's coming sooner... - lengau, on 10/11/2007, -0/+4Good news! You can already delete Outlook! That's why Thunderbird exists.
- TeamRocket, on 10/11/2007, -0/+3I only wish that Google Cal would sync with Outlook, so that I can Sync with the calender on my Blackberry
- john95127, on 10/11/2007, -1/+4If you build it they will come......
- Linh, on 10/11/2007, -0/+2It'd be nice if it would allow you to migrate google gmail accounts to google app accounts, and vice versa.
- Fratm, on 10/11/2007, -0/+2Does hotmail allow you to access your mail via IMAP? If not, then you are out of luck.
- eliasg, on 10/11/2007, -2/+4Google Apps [for your Domain], not GMail.
- judsond, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2It better be coming on Friday :)
- Markdoggin, on 10/11/2007, -2/+4sounds like they're revving up for the iPhone launch as well
- adrianscerri, on 10/11/2007, -1/+2If you use the Education edition I'm pretty sure you can use it
- mvip, on 10/06/2008, -0/+1If you're not a premium/enterprise/educational Google Apps user, you can always use YippieMove (http://www.yippiemove.com) to migrate your emails. It's just $9.95 per account to user and supports all IMAP servers. So, if you're considering getting premium/enterprise/educational just to get the migration tool, YippieMove will save you money.
- hdias123, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1I'm using the standard version of Google Apps and its working great except for the major annoyances with the POP forwarding:
1) by using the recent mode to receive and send mail from POP accounts on multiple computers ( so that each computer receives all mail instead of getting to download one exclusive copy of a message), on sending mail, we automatically get back a copy of the sent message, which could either be a feature or could be major annoyance whichever way you look at it , either way i wish Google would give me the option to turn this "feature" off.
2) my whole inbox seems to download from time to time for no reason automatically (read and unread messages).
These problems have been reported by a whole lot of users using Google Apps, ohh btw I'm using Outlook 2003 and outlook express on some computers. I really wish Google could fix these major bugs before they start implementing some new feature. - magicmarc, on 10/11/2007, -4/+5This should be great. Gmail really has come far, and is certainly the best form of webmail yet, IMO.
Maybe even features to tie in with the iPhone, who knows. - sunshinelife, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1Organizations shouls be very careful in migrating til Google Apps - it could easily become a migrane.
- se7en11, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1I don't know why you're getting dugg down. You make a very valuable point. The only business I would see using Gmail (or Apps for your Domain) would be very small businesses who do not have the time or budget for a mail server. Either that or just a lazy systems admin. :-)
Google mail for your domain is the exact same as using Gmail. - baldr, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1that was in response to kexp903 (damn new digg comment system)
- julieBi, on 12/03/2008, -0/+1This is very cool we are using it in our office, really helped a lot!!!

I highly recommend it! - jlatka, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1Are you kidding? Labels are so much more powerful than folders. You can't put things in more than one folder, yet you can label it many times. It is tagging for email. Brilliant.
- clokwise, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1We already have this email migration function enabled on our account (ISP Standard). It's using IMAP, and though I have not tried it yet, it's pretty straightforward and they will auto migrate all your mail folders into google labels.
- counterplex, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1Good way to stay hired while working for the gubmint: delete sensitive government emails and claim they got lost during a migration to gmail and google docs using a beta migration service :)
- LordVance, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1Since when has market share been a great way to determine the quality of a product? Especially in the software industry...
- surfcat, on 10/11/2007, -0/+0try plaxo.com to sync your stuff
- navdeepsoni, on 10/11/2007, -0/+0I think thats a good move
- deadkenny, on 10/11/2007, -0/+0So this I assume means we won't get IMAP support for standard Google Mail, only premium. Given that premium attracts $50 per user per year (so I guess that means for each email address).
Also it appears to use premium Google Apps you need to sign your domain over to them (in at least that you have them manage the mail and possibly web server), and have to migrate your mail to Google rather than be able to just access a remote/corporate mail server.
I'd rather use Google Mail as my UI for remote use but still have the mail server under my control. Hence why so many of us want IMAP 'access' on standard Google Mail (rather than an import facility and need to use premium). - sephiroth4, on 10/11/2007, -1/+1Yes this already exists....
- guyweb, on 10/11/2007, -0/+0The latest version of Google Docs allows you to put stuff into more than one folder! They've changed 'tags' to 'folders'.
- benjpw, on 10/11/2007, -2/+1MS Outlook Exchange is awesome IMHO. I like gmail but in terms of integration with a PDA MS Exchange is awesome - I haven't ever even hotsynced my PDA to my laptop thanks to it.
- inactive, on 10/11/2007, -4/+2good way to get fired: migrate sensitive company emails and docs to a beta service like gmail and google docs.
- UrbanPug, on 10/11/2007, -7/+5sounds cool.
- limeyfather, on 10/11/2007, -3/+0Maybe bigger attachment files, or a downloadable program to send large files.
- baldr, on 10/11/2007, -4/+1what are you talking about?
- roberto_deneero, on 10/11/2007, -4/+1Why must Google, AKA the Steve Jobs of web-based mail, insist that we all must use labels instead of folders? This is the only mistake Google has ever made.
