2 Hours and only 48 diggs! Sheesh. - jonnimont, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2i agree, instantly lashing the two together would be a disaster: i think people are put off posting dodgy videos of themselves on google because its a very 'official' site.
bet they'll gradually converge the technologies and the archives for both though, so they become different portals to the same thing: google video being the straight up practical video portal and youtube the 2.0 interactive one - CristianMezei, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2From the press release : "Following the acquisition, YouTube will operate independently to preserve its successful brand and passionate community." I have to love that. I thought they were goinf to integrate it with Google Video, which would've been a very bad choice.
- osbjmg, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I don't think it matters, I would use any of the video services, but Google needs it to make sure real backers don't get behind youtube to be real competition for google video - after all Yahoo is in the game now and we don't need more competition. Right now it appears Yahoo just searches for video, not too much hosting going on.

YouTube is all video blogging and Google is just spam (Look at the top 100 sometime if you think otherwise). I'd like to have it be a place for real entertainment like a YTMND or SpikedHumor, or for the love of God, a decent place to post content so that when Ebaums steals it and puts their damn logo on it, it's too late, cause it's already been on YouTube or Google without annoying copyright for weeks.
