- stephen2417, on 10/12/2007, -0/+25Dugg, that title is unreal.
- rastan, on 10/12/2007, -0/+10Agreed. Well done title :)
- crashflow, on 10/12/2007, -1/+10Quick, the best treatment is ammonia. Somebody pee on him.
- TheRunes, on 10/12/2007, -0/+9That is an amusing title. Run, the jellyfish are attacking!!!!!!
- Hortnon, on 10/12/2007, -0/+6Best title ever.
- dclowd9901, on 10/12/2007, -1/+7Finally, adwords has some competition. This can only turn out well for us.
- Celeron, on 10/12/2007, -0/+6Dugg for the laughter that made my day.
- Purist, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5It's not just sales adwords users want. Lots of time, it's also increased traffic, so in that sense Google will always remain the best source.
- BloodJunkie, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3dclowd9901, if by "us" you mean advertisers, then I agree. However, if you mean adsense users, I wouldn't be so sure. Competition drives prices down.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3Google testing and planning to move away from CPC and more of a pay for actualy paying customers.. it will cost more but you only pay for your advertisment when it actually works (aka meaning someone actually buys something)
- rubino, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3The problem with Google moving into the CPA methodology relies in the fact that there is no real difference between CPA and a simple affiliate program. There are already plenty of affiliates programs, so this Google move doesn't help me a lot as a publisher of real contents.
- sosuke, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2That scheme that Google is testing as well as this Jellyfish reminds me of what Amazon has been doing with their publishing idea. I am afraid as a web publisher to make such a transition because I have no faith that my visitors have any expendable income, I do however trust them to click.
- sosuke, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Is that "third party" Jellyfish mentions the website publisher? If thats the case I don't expect many websites do change whose advertisments they place. Jellyfish can signup advertisers with these schemes, but they need to entice publishers to place the ads or they have no deal. With publisher websites losing half of the "third party" gains I really don't think this will be a good alternative as it stands.
- 0pcode, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2I think people tend to stay a way from jellyfish not swim with them. I don't see this catching on.
- havaloc, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2http://www.fatwallet.com has been doing this for a long time.
- vegasbright, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Yah. fat chance in jellyfish hell.
- cloudbrain, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2sosuke:
That's exactly the problem. I make my money selling things online and use Google Adwords to advertise. Ads for Search work amazingly. Ads on the Google Content network (like your site) suck. I would love for Google to come up with a way (it sounds like this is it) for me to bypass the websites with users that don't buy things and run ads just on the good websites.
I also assume that this new CPA adveritsing will be tightly integrated with GBuy. This will be how Google verifies that a user actually buys something and that the publisher is due credit: Google will handle the transaction. Otherwise I can only imagine the nightmare of fraud they would be faced with as fake publishers create fake stores and fake customers to earn real commissions. - JerMe, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Google should have made a holiday logo for this. A Jellyfish attacking the Google.
http://www.google.com/holidaylogos.html - namebent, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Not that this isn't a good idea, but I suspect this is spam. The site just launched today.

"At Jellyfish, we want to pioneer a new form of search advertising we call Value Per Action. Instead of charging fees on the click, we charge our advertisers only when people actually buy, and we share at least half of this fee back with those buyers in a cash back account."
A good idea, yes, but they did not pioneer "Value Per Action". I would suspect they just have a bunch of affiliate accounts and are giving shoppers some of their ad earnings back. Also, there is not really any connection or competition with Google here either. Catchy title yes... - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2The value of Google Adwords is the fact that they have an enormous amount of targeted traffic to distribute via their search engine. Whether they do so with a CPC or CPA engine doesn't change that.
- namebent, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Yes, and I think they'll send you a free Ginsu knife if you order in the next 30 minutes.
- jefffm, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Does that mean google is sea-bound now??
Whats next, the google space probe? - Roundtower2, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1great title - but pure spam, derivative web idea - its just a cashback scheme.
- eseverson, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1
So help me understand this: I sign up with Jellyfish.com, then from there, click on BestBuy.com, then I buy my new 50" HP Plasma TV through BestBuy.com (with free delivery, of course!), and I get about about $70 cash back all for doing nothing more than going through Jellyfish.com instead of going directly to BestBuy.com? Sounds too easy and almost too good to be true. Am I understanding how this jellyfish thing works? - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I agree. I don't feel that that there is anything particulary innovative about this website at all. There is absolutely, no way, that it will have a measurable impact on any major PPC player such as Adwords, Yahoo! Search Marketing or MSN Adcenter.
An advertising program only works when you have a solid source of traffic to feed it. The major PPC players I mentioned earlier have that but Jellyfish, does not and probably never will have as I see no reason why they would. - AncientWeird, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Perhaps if I open an adwords account i will make just enough money to get Duke Nukem Forever when it comes out...
- DarkPrince11, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2Dugg just for the title. and @ Purist Google will not always remain the best source. Yahoo offers a much high CPM rate then google. And many advertisters are going over to Yahoo.
- Daniel591992, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2Ouch, that stings!
- enjolras, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Greg harmon hit the nail on the head..."An advertising program only works when you have a solid source of traffic to feed it. " Personally, I was decidedly underwhelmed after all of the pre-launch hype for this company.
- blooba, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I checked their site. It's nothing more than another comparative shopping engine. It's hook is that it makes you think you are saving the most money by offering a "refund". BFD.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1It's hard to tell what people will latch-on to, so to speak. Even Google had to start with no solid traffic. It's a gamble yes, but not impossible IMHO.
- 108programs, on 10/17/2009, -0/+1great title - but pure spam, derivative web idea - its just a cashback scheme.
http://www.diggma.com http://coldjung.com - wwwaddedsavings, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1lots of website already do this. ebates.com, mrrebates.com, searchcactus.com and so on.
- AlexApetrei, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1HA ... this is stupid
Quote from Jellifish.com
"I always feel so much smarter when i use jellyfish to shop because i get cashback on everything i buy."
***** , most of the time you can go in a store and kick up a fuss and talk to the manager and get at least a 20% off. If you try hard enough you can get an ex display model for 50% of what it would cost you... sure you dont get that remote and the corner is ruffeld, but for 50% off It's worth it.
Give it a go sometimes, I guarantee it will work. - noniksayang01, on 02/18/2009, -0/+1Jelly fish ? The title is funny ....

I must admit that I am always skeptical of marketing/advertising schemes, but I bought my TV with the jellyfish thing and I now have almost $71 coming back to me. No Ginsu knife, unfortunately, but I'll gladly pocket the $71. ;) - Contempo160, on 07/02/2009, -0/+0LOL this is funny, I talk a lot about google on my page. Especially google Adwords. Google is at it again.....Oh I need that Jelly Fish LOL
