- dsendecki, on 10/12/2007, -17/+139Googlebot is too fat and got stuck in one of the tubes.
- Winters, on 10/12/2007, -17/+126What's not right is that someone cares way too much.
- ceoandpresident, on 10/12/2007, -15/+117Maybe the tubes are getting clogged
- procdaddy, on 10/12/2007, -13/+87GoogleBot's been smoking weed and running over little girls on bikes in driveways.
- guytoronto, on 10/12/2007, -11/+77Computers don't get lazy. They get bogged down with crap. CNN.com is the epitome of crap.
- aptmunich, on 10/12/2007, -4/+66Googlebot is too busy crawling your redundant blog and 10 billion myspace pages to care about "the news"
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -3/+54Ironic that people on digg would claim there's an entire world out there.
Digg does a great job of sifting through the entire world and reducing it to youtube videos and linux/apple/wii success predicitions/stories. - deadbaby, on 10/12/2007, -7/+45Lay off him. GoogleBot has been depressed since Mrs. GoogleBot left him. Cut the guy some slack.
- ahawks, on 10/12/2007, -19/+52Let's remember you said that next time Duggmirror doesn't have a page, and you turn to Google Cache.
Ohhhh wait, their cache is out of date? Maybe it's good someone cares about these things. - DaffyDuck, on 10/12/2007, -2/+27And stealing old people's medicine for food.
- xtr3m, on 10/12/2007, -10/+36Googlebot is ill. ;(
- mecole21, on 10/12/2007, -5/+29Googlebot let fame go to his head and now he is too busy snorting coke off of dead hookers to do his job...
- titlesaysitall, on 10/12/2007, -0/+19The Goolge Bot jokes make this thread worth a Digg.
- rkenward, on 10/12/2007, -1/+19amen. paris hilton is not front page news worthy. there is an entire world out there.
- Aiwanei, on 10/12/2007, -4/+22Hmm according to google, at least for me, they are both cached as of last night.
- se7en11, on 10/12/2007, -3/+21It wasn't coke and I didn't know she was dead.
-GB - se7en11, on 10/12/2007, -5/+181995 called and they want their /. jokes back.
- BoneyB, on 10/12/2007, -2/+13Did you read the article? It was written 24 hrs ago. Screenshots.
And yes they've been cached again but that's pretty slow for some of the most visited sites on the Net. - ThunderIT, on 10/12/2007, -1/+12that is due to that fact that people were 'gaming the system' and flooding google with spam sites, link farms, and those adwords dumps that would give you a page full of ads for what you were searching for, and make money off the click thru's
google had to adapt, and they havn't ironed out the bugs yet - RogueAI, on 10/12/2007, -1/+7Google has a new system called Google Webmaster Tools (formerly Sitemaps). Once you register your site with this, you can control whether the googlebots should scan your site normally or "slower" in order to save your bandwidth and servers. Perhaps some of these sites have opted to go into "slow mode" ?
- Nougat, on 10/12/2007, -1/+7I have similar experiences. "No, I don't want to BUY a DEVICE$; I want to troubleshoot a DEVICE$."
- NanoStuff, on 10/12/2007, -3/+9teh internet, she's expanding!
- invader, on 10/12/2007, -2/+8It's more ironic that someone on digg would say that Paris Hilton is not front page news worthy. That individual must not know much about digg's history.
- JMJimmy, on 10/12/2007, -4/+9Google is definately getting worse - search resutls are no where near as good as they were a few years ago imho
- Haplo, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5I updated yesterday a program to monitor Googlebot: http://johnbokma.com/perl/googlebot-statistics.html
It analyzes the access_log file and exports to csv so it can be imported into Calc or Excel. - jofu, on 10/12/2007, -1/+6Netizen: What's wrong googlebot, you seem sluggish to update.
Googlebot: Bite my shiny metal ass - fani, on 10/12/2007, -6/+9One thing I am starting to dislike about google is the results are always commercial.
I wanted to research a TV - Samsung TV and instead of the top hit being the Samsung website with this TV, but the first 2 result pages were filled with shopping sites.
Yahoo also suffers similarly. This is pissing me off.
I dont like Google that much these days. The only thing I used it for was search and its not good at it any. Polluted with sites selling stuff all the time. ( nextag, yahoo shopping, bizrate, dealtime, amazon are always among the top results ) - lxpk, on 10/12/2007, -2/+5I love how this joke gets +46 while the previous one got hidden. Tough crowd I guess.
- Clearz, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3"amen. paris hilton is not front page news worthy. there is an entire world out there."
But she is certainly page 3 worthy. - wtfdaemon, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3Oh crap, the internet is expanding your friend? Like a tumor? Or in that sort of Larry-Ellison-repressed-rage-at-subordinate-incompetence Big-Trouble-In-Little-China hold your breath till you balloon and detonate?
I hope the internet doesn't do that to anyone I know! - olddirtycr, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4SAMSUNG's Digital World - TV,Video & Audio
TV. Satisfy your viewing needs with our superior technology. ... Movies at home will never be the same with a Samsung DVD player. ...
Then I search, Samsung TV ln-s4096d
First result is cnet review, which is good as cnet has good reviews. Google can only make up for bad searching so much. It's a computer program, not a mind reader. If you type stuff like "LAWL SAMGSUNG TV MONEY VERSION @%$%%" it'll give you crap.
If you want to search samsungs website you can, learn some search engine syntax. - Phyltre, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3Unfortunately, this is only likely to increase as more people buy things online. After all, they're ranked based on linkage and popularity, right?
- jguy584, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3Googlebot probably just has a lot more work to do these days
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -2/+4Sounds like you need a robots.txt setup
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2my site's cache is up to date, last night-ish
- vdxc, on 09/29/2008, -0/+2Hmmm... maybe Google are cleaning their old cached pages out (ie. updating every cache) at the moment and will resume normal operations of updating popular site's cache more often
- slampaladino, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2It's CNN people. They repeat the same news over and over. It's not 4 days old. It's FRESH!!
- answr42, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2ahh... good old page 3, too bad America has never caught onto the importance of a daily fixation of female nudity!
- spyrochaete, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Maybe GoogleBot just needs some liquor. Look at that 5 o'clock rust shadow.
- awizeman, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1They are probably moving it to the oregon data center to keep up - so there are delays here and there by region.
- Brak710101, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Hmm... Some people say Googlebot would be the first AI.
Could it be having feelings? LAZINESS? - shakey77, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2It's also due to the fact that Google makes more money by almost requiring people to click on paid links because their natural search is so poor. This idea was even brought up by an analyst several quarters ago on one of their stock calls. Why would you ever click an ad if the natural search worked perfectly?
- gu014, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2i have never had a problem finding what i was looking for via google. AT TIMES i have gone to the evil 2nd page, god forbid.
- jholdaway, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1googlebot im sure crawls digg every day. My site is crawled 4-5 times a day. However the results from a google search is months old..
- catusf, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0That's true. Maybe they are busy booking Christmas party. As of 22:30 Oct 26 2006, cache of bbc.co.uk dated
This is G o o g l e's cache of http://www.bbc.co.uk/ as retrieved on 22 Oct 2006 21:24:58 GMT.
My blog at http://catusf.blogspot.com is usually re-indexed every... week! Shiiiiit! - kuzotz, on 10/12/2007, -2/+2The internet is always expanding my friend.Google needs to get more servers to handle the load.
- CaptShmo, on 10/12/2007, -2/+2caching digg accurate seems like quite a task, maybe googlebot just needs to hit the gym... go googlebot go!
- Haplo, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1My experience is that Googlebot still visits often, however it takes now several days instead of roughly 12 hours to show up in Google after indexing. IIRC this started to happen after Februari or so, things went back to normal in August or so, and are "now" back again into bad shape. Maybe Google should try to stop to get everything, especially the spam garbage and cloaked garbage (webmasters world anyone?)
