- sishgupta, on 10/12/2007, -1/+19That isn't a gmail thing, but an opera thing. Try the latest opera 9 weekly, it works perfectly in gmail. (or almost perfect considering the pre-beta qualities of opera 9)

http://www.flickr.com/photos/qqs/sets/72057594093053910/ - Gigolo, on 10/12/2007, -0/+11I think its only for a certain few people who have been randomly chosen by google testing.
A few people have been "assigned" the new google search beta as well, which ahs relevancy bars on the side. - halibut, on 10/12/2007, -0/+8PLEASE NOTE:
This is not a beta feature,
These features are added by a firefox extension called gmailskins (I should know, I'm the author - https://addons.mozilla.org/extensions/moreinfo.php?id=2127&application=firefox).
Still, pretty funny. - svidrod, on 10/12/2007, -1/+9i don't see any of this stuff in my gmail.
- enderu, on 10/12/2007, -0/+6I've been using attachments forever...how is that something new?
- DataSquid, on 10/12/2007, -3/+8Darn darn darn. I HATE "rich text" email.
- meechp123, on 10/12/2007, -5/+9I just want GMail to work correctly with Opera.
- mvprj84, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4I wrote up a quick tutorial on how to get the GMail Chat into Opera...
http://digg.com/software/How_To_Use_GMail_Chat_In_Opera_9_--_Quick_5_Step_Process - kevbear, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4Not always the case for all features, but make sure that your language is set to "English (US)" under settings and you'll have the most up-to-date features that are available to you. I was running as "English (UK)" and was wondering why I didn't have the webclips, or talk integration. Once I changed to "English (US)" they both appeared.
Also, I don't quite get the attachments bit. I can't see any difference from what there always has been, unless it's defaulting to having four file input boxes showing at the start instead of one. - jinexile, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4Haven't you watched Forest Gump?
- matthewecornish, on 10/12/2007, -1/+5Attachments, HTML and images have been in there for a long time as far as I'm concerned.
- whiteghetto, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3thats just how email works man.
email is in no way secure. - serra, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3What the hell? How in the hell did this get so many Diggs? This isn't anything at all new!
- vdxc, on 09/29/2008, -0/+3when typing a message click 'plain text' OR select 'basic HTML' at the bottom
- haochi, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3Sorry guys...
These are not new features from Google...(well, I just know that)
I got an email from the author of Gmail skin and he told me it is part of the gmail skin feature. LOL
Sorry. - jtibble, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2I wouldn't mind having the option to add a self-signed security certificate, becase even one of my friends was able to spoof my email using his SMTP server.
- SwornPacifist, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Try Coral Cache: http://googlified.com.nyud.net:8090/selectpost.php?id=14
- dbpigeon, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Gmail has a simple view so you don't have to mess with all that.
- SpacemanSpiff, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2They've had that capability for quite a while: http://digg.com/software/Gmail_adds_support_for_exporting_contacts
- starbird, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2or, oddly a J
- disrupter, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Why do smilies have to be yellow
- ascheinberg, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2The table thing and the smilies may be new, but the attachments are the same as ever.
- krugzilla, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2I too have been having trouble with the gmail feed. I use it on protopage and it has been giving an error message since monday.
- dbpigeon, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2I once got the smilies to appear -- once. Next time I signed in they were gone :sniff:
- kucing, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2"Why do smilies have to be yellow"
Because they look like Pac-Man? - SwornPacifist, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2I was just wondering the what was different about the attachments, it's always been that way.
Just click "Attach a file", then click "Attach another file" a few times while composing an email. - tobsterius, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Does its really matter is Google keeps the beta tag or not? Gmail works fine regardless if Google tags it as "beta" or final release... it just seems like a stupid complaint to me.
- buss, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I recently noticed really good table support. Try sending yourself an email with an html table in it from a program that supports it and see what I mean.
- denaje, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1These are not new features in Gmail. When it comes to attachments, they have been there since the very beginning, and I do not see smileys in my account.
Heh, and I was the one to spoof jtibble's email up there :) Just so you know, having a certificate doesn't mean you can't spoof email. Most people won't notice anyways, which is why phishing is so prevelant today. (no I don't phish. I'm not that stupid...)
What I would really like to see in Gmail is the ability to send .exe's and attachments over the 10MB limit, or whatever it is. That would come in handy for sending files to myself when I have no other means and for sending programs back and forth without having to rename the extension. - mjaleo, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I've been able to do all of these things in my account for some time now...
And the attachments thing isn't new? - Thorpe, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2Just ashame they never update the other languages with the features.
- BlueFiberOp, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1It would be nice to be able to insert pictures and write a description by them. The current method of attaching pictures and trying to describe the pictures in a certain order is just confusing to non-English speakers,
- esaba.com, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1where is simple view?
- gambl0r, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1haha! Damn Outlook and it's J smileys.
- MiamiGuy, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Very interesting I like how it all looks. Thanks for the link to the pictures seeing as how the actual digg link doesn't load at all.
- tennman, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1How about a new "feature" that makes my GMail notifier work again.
I use the GMail Geiger yahoo widget and it's been dead since Monday. Something must be up with their ATOM feed.
Judging by the GMail discussion group, I'm not the only one and it ain't just GMail Geiger. - vuzman, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1To get the Gmail chat to work in Opera, basically just mask as Mozilla. Huh, I guess that means Gmail is browsersniffing Opera and deciding that it should not get the chat code, even though it is capable of handling it (which might be ok, I guess, since the release version of Opera(8.5) doesn't. Hope Gmail fixes this for when 9.0 final comes out).
- MiamiGuy, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Hah that is pretty funny. I had tried your extension a while back. Very good work. I can't believe I forgot about it having the same features as mentioned here. heh.
- haochi, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1What about the HTML...? it didn't stated on the gmail skin page...still, a new feature...waiting for someone to prove it is NOT a new feature...:)
- sk545, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1don't you all see? Gmail is googleOS. Just watch, its gonna end up having integrated into into it, then it will be out of beta.
- lux55, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1This is true. I've been seeing the relevancy bars on the side for weeks (still used to the old way, but I can see the merits of the change), but I don't see these new gmail features yet. Things like smileys shouldn't take long to "stabilize" so hopefully we all see the updates soon enough.

http://www.putfwd.com/ - Free file storage with a twist - bigpeeler, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Amen to that. Some people fall for anything I guess.
- Eric.S.Smith, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1A cert, signed by Google, would be a neat Gmail perk, if in fact they're looking to attract more nerds. Do they support SMIME at all, currently?
- mrASSMAN, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1yeah WTF?! There is NOTHING new here. ALL of this stuff has always been in gmail!
- enderu, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Ah, well that explains it. I fail to see how that extra click could cause enough trouble to change the code...but I suppose that's just personal opinion.
- vuzman, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Displaying HTML, yes, but not composing with HTML. Inline images are also new.
- Sammy2015, on 10/12/2007, -0/+01) Popup prompts
2) Cluttered smiley icons
That's like everything against Google's UI design philosophies.
Why would anyone dig this? - jessplease, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0you're kidding right? none of the web based emails handle css properly. especially hotmail.
- shaun3000, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Great. Still waiting for access to external POP and IMAP accounts through Google. I'd actually use it if I could check my other accounts. Oh well.
(I know I can forward my mail to Google but I don't want a half-assed workaround) -
