- frank2, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2except when you send an email from gmail under another address is says on behalf of gmail, which kind of ruins the whole thing.
- inverselimit, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1If the techniques described therin were any more obvious, they would be patentable.
- compu73rg33k, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Why are you all ripping on it wtf? It's a nice in depth tutorial, give him some props.
- alexmiller, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Some people think this is redundant. Redundancy makes the world go 'round. Humans are a redundant race. We serve no purpose. If someone posted a link the google help article and you had seen this before, would you compain that it was redundant?
- idiggeverything, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1"it *requires* you to have cpanel on the server in question?"
Uh, no. - tomi, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I already have been doing this for a while with my other gmail account [minus the labels, as I don't need that] but yeah, thanks. digg++;
- sharedferret, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Funny, in the label pic the author blurs out the other two website filters, but then in the next picture the two sites are unblurred.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Why wouldn't I just use my own email server and organize whatever I wanted however the hell I wanted?
- qwerty967, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0This tutorial is a good guide for people who didn't know hot to do this before. I didn't mean to rag on this method. In fact, I do this with my email addresses. I'm waiting for Google to offer personal email hosting for people with their own domains like Windows Live Custom Domains does. I know Google has hosted email right now, but it seems like it's more for small businesses rather than vanity domains.
- pkkid, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I thought anyone with a brain knew how to forward email, or perhaps this is getting dugg because the title says Gmail.
- metalrock76, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I've been doing this for awhile now.
- ifonly, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I wouldnt call it indentical, this one is far more indepth.
- aero187, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0nice tutorial, but i have had my account like that for a few months now...
- vertigoblue, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0i have been doing this since i first got on gmail... within the gmail settings you can forward for free...
- IAMaNDY, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0leet tutorial tbh.
- qwerty967, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0You don't need cpanel. All you need is to have your DNS provider forward mail to your Gmail account.
If you want to look professional, don't use this method. In the from field in Outlook or Windows Live Mail, it'll show up as "example@gmail.com on behalf of example@yourdomain.com" which totally looks cheesy. - ifonly, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0true, but its way more professional than someone emailing x@x.com only to reply from personalnick@gmail.com
- MalDON, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I've been doing this since Gmail first allowed you to reply from other email addresses.
- deltrey, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I have to agree with pkkid here. I have been doing this for quite a while now....
- Prol1fic, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Or use their new service that was MADE to do this. I just got my invite to it and it's sweet!
https://www.google.com/hosted/ - asg6, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0No digg but props for the effort in putting the tutorial together.
- madeingermany, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0this not for webmasters it's for webmaster's apprentices.... however it represents my setup pretty accurately ;)
- wrinkles, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0My email addresses all forward to my spamcop.net address. Much more configurable spam filters, and with custom white and blacklists. Gmail has a nicer web interface, but I don't use the web interface much anyway.
Yeah, obvious. And he's obviously kicked up his Google rankings with this junk. - yoyogongzuo, on 01/12/2009, -0/+0wow power leveling:http://www.toppowerlevel.net

LWB - ralejs, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Seems kinda obvious. No digg.
- jswaby, on 10/12/2007, -0/+01105 User(s) are reading this topic (1104 Guests and 0 Anonymous Users)
That forum is getting a lot of traffic. But if you're a webmaster and don't already take advantage of gmail and all its wonderful email tools, then you aren't much of a webmaster. I also agree, it IS really obvious.
No digg. - gklinger, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Completely redundant. There is nothing in this tutorial that isn't made clear to anyone that reads the help section at Google. Further, the author of that tutorial is ignorant of the facts outlined here:
http://www.ilfilosofo.com/blog/2006/02/23/gmail-hasnt-fixed-the-real-reply-problem/
I can't believe this made the front page. Ugh. - chriz, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0"Seems kinda obvious. No digg."
^ agree. - mico, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0maybe you should get out of the business if you are clueless enough to need this.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Cool! Been looking for something like this for a while
- PsychoticDude85, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0So because you already know it that automatically stops anyone else from being ignorant? Don't be stupid guys, there will always be people who benefit from a tutorial. If you want to complain about it then give some constructive advice on how to do better, don't just say "It's obvious", because that helps no one.
- MrOmniscient, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I've been using this technique for months (see The September 2005 Computer Guy Newsletter - http://www.computerguyofgastonia.com/Newsletter/newsletterseptember05.html). I thought it was kind of obvious, but it is hugely useful.
- Linh, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0It's useful for those who didn't know about it. But I agree.. the "on behalf" stuff is a little annoying. I don't want people to see the gmail address and assume to start using it. I've heard if gmail just used x-sender instead of sender in the header, this would be resolved
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0now gmail can read all of your mail
- ifonly, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0so just because you knew how to do it makes the article "lame"?
- gooru, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Lame tutorial. No digg. I've been doing this for a long time already.
BTW, the one annoying thing about all this is there's no way to change your signature for each address automatically. That's a big problem for me. - doubledoh, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Awesome. Now I'm kind of sad that I setup 8 different gmail accounts. Doh well.
- idiggeverything, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0I've been doing this before gmail existed so HA BIOTCHES!
- fowkswe, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0is friday night, retard night on digg? where the ***** did all you idiots come from?
- TheQwe, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0I should say, the tutorial requires cpanel. I'm well aware you can do this other ways ;)
- TheQwe, on 10/12/2007, -2/+0it *requires* you to have cpanel on the server in question?
no digg, ++lame - jakebechtold, on 10/12/2007, -4/+0Bad URL - http://jakebechtold.blogsome.com/2006/02/06/gmail-tip-use-mulitple-gmail-accounts-with-one-login/
- jakebechtold, on 10/12/2007, -5/+0Old - I posted an almost identical post on my website about a week and a half ago (http://jakebechtold.blogsome.com/2006/02/06/gmail-tip-use-mulitple-gmail-accounts-with-one-login/). No Digg.
