- jirwin304, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Amazingly, I had this feature enabled on my gmail 6-8 months ago. Is handy in my eyes, as Gmail is becoming more and more not just for the tech saavy, as it once was. With more and more everyday users, promoting the use of RSS in their email app really would be a 'neat' thing.
- UnclePunk, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Have I just been lucky? I've had this feature for months now...
- krinkle_man, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0 Ok, But they allready have a rss reader! Why do they need one in gmail?
- xodex, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I turned it off before I even knew about this announcement.
- dep01, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Yipee.. Why am I going to sit in my gmail inbox and read the RSS headlines as they come up one at a time? there are a bazillion and one RSS readers..
- tonic, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Its useless to me because I use Thunderbird, and I read RSS with Firefox building function.
- Carbito, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0This seems rather pointless. I have already turned it off.
- troydoogle7, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I switched mine off as well, absolutely pointless considering I get my RSS on google personalised. I think the GMail crew are in panic mode, I think they need some new ideas men. Here's a thought- why not ask your customers what features they want for gmail??? I am sure the diggers have plenty of suggestions.
- hibern8, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Panic mode, ideas, useless features? Well, I like the show as HTML for attachements that may actually come in useful some day. If the need ideas of how to improve Gmail they can just ask me. How about adding features that people have been asking for a long time?

- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Remember back when google was concerned that people would eventually getted used to the ads on the side or top and just mentally block them out?
This is an attempt at an answer. - prodigy311, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Been there for months, never use it. Mail.app is awesome..
- SimpleMan46, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I love that one of the links in the article is to a Yahoo page. Funny.
- Kratoz, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I love it! Mainly because if you have the cooking feed, in my Spam folder, it advertises different recipes that use Spam. Adds a little humour to my usually dull email account.
- poptorrent, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Using Gmail (or Google Mail now) in the UK and there's not a sign of it. No mention of it in the settings or anything ;-(
- wandwaver, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0yeah, gmail uk is often very slow. I only had auto-save enabled this week, and there's still no sign of the 'accounts' that US users have...
- outlanderBZ, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0if it was tied to my google reader and personalized homepage it would be nice. 3 seperate lists is pointless. come on google, tie some of this stuff together
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0For some reason this only works on one of my gmail accounts and not the other.
- trex, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Decent to see if anything eyepopping jumps out. But for the meantime I like Google Personalized homepage better.
- Kratoz, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Oh, also noticed my trash bin has recycling tips. Kudos to Google. :)
- dmron, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I agree the clips thing is pretty silly, I dont want to get my news throgh my email client. But, they did add a few new other features, the coolest of which (I think) is that it auto detects both addresses and tracking numbers and displays link on the side (where the ads are) to automatically take you to the tracking site or map the address on google maps. I tried it out and it works nice. That's really cool IMHO :D
- Razman, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Well I feel the performance of page loading takes a hit with the feeds turned on.
I'll turn it off definitely.
always seems to a brief half second pause when it loads the main page, and it is always the webclips that is loading last, which is why I attribute the performance to it. (that and it is the newly introduced variable.) - jayknitter, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Not so much a dupe. I didn't have the feature yesterday, but do have it today!
Also got the UPS tracking feature and I now get a chance to get directions on the right hand side as well. All new for my account. I think they finally got it out to the masses now. - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Google has been trying this out on random accounts for months. I had it on one but not on the other because they randomly gave it to some accounts. Some of the old posts in the Gmail help discussion group mention this. I guess now everybody gets it.
- NoahK, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Dupe. This was mentioned yesterday in the new gmails feature. No digg.
- tsmango, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0My Take: http://www.trikenit.com/2005/12/09/how-to-turn-off-gmails-web-clips/
- incognegro, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0If they would put a calendar in there, ***** would be perfect
- Jammerdelray, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0yea it's partially useless...but for those that don't use rss in browsers then it's pretty handy and just adds features to google. Personally I use firefox...I don't like google sidebar...kinda ugly and never can seem to show my emails in the email box.
- perfect13thstep, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I'll use this when they can take all my RSS feeds and send me one email with a summary of all new posts over a given time interval.
- rjett, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I too have had this enabled on my Gmail account for a while. When I heard about the announcement I wasn't quite sure what was going on. Nor do I know why I had it before anyone else. It's neat.
- vvaduva, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Big deal! No dig...this is just another way for them to insert random ads in the rss feeds. Turn the feature off...it's useless.
- mackoid101, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I just use google.com/ig
- BkDd9, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I have also had this for several months now. I could care less about it though.
- NoonienSoong, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0also turned off, but digg anyway. what we really want is a calendar!
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0i saw this on digg yesterday but it was posted by some random blog, anyways i still think the clips thing is a useless feature
