- ronmexico, on 10/12/2007, -8/+14Ukraine not weak!
- Angostura, on 10/12/2007, -2/+7Anyone else find that Safari quits trying to display that page?
- CarbonX, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5It's transitioning from images with different resolutions.
- ElectroBot, on 10/12/2007, -2/+7Is it the local (municipal government) that pays to get the higher resolution coverage? If it is then I need to yell at my city mayor because even though we're the "fastest growing technological area in North America" (Waterloo, Ontario) we have horrible satellite coverage. You can barely tell which street is yours and that's if you know where it should be. Oh and the street view hasn't even been updated in in over 3 years. There's a whole new area with a couple of communities and a new high school that was built 3 years ago that still isn't showing up on the google maps street view.
- pumacub, on 10/12/2007, -2/+7My apartment complex is still an empty lot. =(
- Portfolioso, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5I still dont understand why most of Connecticut has terrible resolution! Dammit!
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5Google hates Connecticut.
- farrellj, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4I can tell the photos of Ottawa, Ontario, Canada were taken on a Sunday, as Winnebego that is only parked in a parking lot near my parent's place on Sundays. And I also know that the photos are older than 9 months, as a van that died 9 months ago is parked by my parent's place.

Farrell - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4i can see the patio wall in my back garden

makes you wonder if thats what the public sat images are like imagine the quality of the spy ones >_ - Fridrik, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4I think I just found Jimmy Hoffa.

All that radiation from Chernobyl must be getting to you. - NanoStuff, on 10/12/2007, -3/+6Toronto's obviously not a high priority. But then who can blame them, all tucked away down there.
- Wolf451man, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4Tis ok. Western side has all the good stuff anyway... :)
- Jarda, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3Well, you can get high-res pictures of Somalia, Mogadishu but not my small home town in good ol' Europe
- prab, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3I'm more impressed with the website (wikimapia) than the updates. Has this site ever been on digg before?
- Poco, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4Sucks
- pgm_01, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Yahoo maps Beta has better coverage of CT, they are using data from Aerials Express who also supplies channel 3 with the satellite imagery they use when they zoom in on the Doppler radar.
- rhettnyedotorg, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3yeah my city in British Columbia is not updated either.
- oMeSSiaHo, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2http://www.wikimapia.org/#y=37250281&x=-115820274&z=14&l=0&m=a
Area 51 seems to have some interesting things as well as comments. Just to the south west you can see where we tested our nukes. The whole area is huge and filled with craters. - theschles, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2The Temple Mount / Haram-al-Sharif:
http://www.wikimapia.org/#y=31777869&x=35236588&z=17&l=0&m=a
*jaw drops* - crash331, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2They added new maps for NW Georgia. Still no hi-res images of Dalton, though.
- konspence, on 10/12/2007, -8/+10mc7winkie, what a flamebait comment ;-)
- iluvdrbonner, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2in the top corner the red text is also a menu. Hold Mouse over "Wikimapia" and click Add New Place.
- duodave, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Damn I can see the sidewalks in my neighborhood, and my neighbor's pool (which I have yet to be invited to) and my other neighbor's crappy car.
- Portfolioso, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2My area had good resolution and was reimaged after that. CT never had good resolution and nothing has been done.
Yahoo maps has consistent resolution, it's fairly decent but it's not the greatest. - Ikioi, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Yeah, and apparently, the wiki is going crazy over Area 51 too, including:
"Fake Moon Landing Location" (with seperate stage lights location)
"Entry to alien autopsy facilities"
An actual "Alien"
"Airforce One" (Pres. meeting with an alien ambassador?)
And my favorite...
"The place where everyone eats cake."
I don't want to even guess how someone came up with that one. - andrew52, on 10/12/2007, -3/+5This site crashes Safari.
- Poco, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Yes it has.
I prefer http://www.placeopedia.com/ as it is more closely tied to wikipedia, but wikimapia is cool too. - mookieXL, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Same here. Fascinating stuff... However we still don't have full-res image. At least noone sees how ugly that car is.
- brainache, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Dubai in High Res! W00t.
Also, the whole of Europe seems to be in moderately high res, except the UK, where onloy towns and cities are. Look at where my cousin lives: http://wikimapia.org/#y=50902708&x=-1025162&z=14&l=0&m=a compared to, say, where my friends live in Germany: http://wikimapia.org/#y=49920684&x=7282841&z=16&l=0&m=s
And its not as if this is very atypical, a lot of the UK is very low res, and most of mainland Europe is high. Wonder why... - magister, on 10/12/2007, -2/+3I live in Indiana, and almost all of it is in high res. Seems to be more coverage there than any other state.
- welshie, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1the high resolution stuff tends not to be satellite coverage, but aerial photography.
- sabbac, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1HOLY COW! downtown Milwaukee, It's about time! well, satellite wise anyway.
- NeMeSiS187, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Still no Davis, CA :-( we're too cool for google maps but the farmlands to the west of us aren't.
- eugenef, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I'm still waiting for my house to be shown accuratly, the picture looks like it was taken atleast 2 - 3 years ago, how long does it take to renew....
- ColdChilli, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Chicago is still 3+ years old.
My building is still a parking lot : - joshjoneswas, on 10/12/2007, -2/+3I imagine Safari running on some computer embedded in the refridgerator's HDTV display or something. Too much building the treehouse without actually using it as a kid.
- CosmicJustice, on 10/12/2007, -7/+8Did you mean "Safari crashes immediately"?
- gregmo, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2Yep. St. Louis is still lagging back about 6 years
