This isn't the internet of the 1990's where very few people would ever considering meeting each other. We're living in a time where the internet is a tool for meeting people. Meaning everyone uses this, from terrorists, murders, psycopaths, to innocent, cute 17 y/o girls.
As for the 16 counts of child pornography, if it's photos of her, then that's retarded. She doesn't look like a child at all.
As for the people who say he's got disturbing photos on his site. What's so disturbing about it? It's a couple of photos of skulls made from whatever. Pretty lame.
I'm a photographer, and from what I've seen of this guys work, it's very lacking. The information needs to be more secure and the people need to be responsible with their information. Myspace is a privacy threat just waiting to be exploited, just like by the ***** that will burn in the depths of Hell for what he did.

People have to understand that information they submit online is going to be seen somewhere on their page. They have to be aware of that. This is true for ALL sites, not just MySpace. How many times has this happened in nameless chatrooms? MySpace isn't the target, it is the naive user who's at fault.
People need to be educated about the dangers of submitting their personal information into blogs and letting everyone view intimate details that would otherwise not be known. IE: Don't show time/dates of places you usually hang out, friends you hang out with, etc etc if you don't want to UP the risk of something happening.

It kinda creeps me out because I say, almost on a daily basis, "I wouldn't be caught dead with a MySpace". - mediaphile, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1this is not a reason to not use sites like myspace and facebook, this is a reason not to freely give out your personal information and meet with people you know nothing about. i hate to sound like a dick, but come on people, we've been hearing this same story for decades. stop giving out your address. plain and simple. i have pages at many of the various social networking sites, but i dont list my address or phone number on a single one of them. yes there are sick people in these places who will solicit you for weird crazy things, but all it takes is ignoring it, reporting it, and moving on.
this story, just like the countless others, should serve as yet another reminder of that simple fact. no need to get all bent out of shape about the medium through which they met. just use common sense.

The stolen plates are a very bad sign, I fear. Note too that Ben Fawley lived for some time in Ohio. I do not know if he still has family there -- therefore you can't chalk that up to anything but mild coincidence.

But I believe that myspace is not dangerous because the only people on my myspace are people I have met in person at school or what ever and I have Stupid friends that just add anyone they think is hot or whatever!!! But The deal is you don't know who is on the other end of the computer so you could be talking to some 50 year old perv. But it is also the parents responsibility to know what you are doing as there child!! Like my mom would band me form the computer if I refused to show her what I was doing if she thought something was up!! I have a lot of my family and friends on my friend list and they have complete access to everything. Including my 25& 26 year old sisters, my mom & dad, my aunts, uncles, and cousins!!! SO before you completely judge Myspace maybe its the user not the product!!!

Taylor Behl: Disturbing Revelations On Ben Fawley
From comments here and Justice Magazine. It appears Ben Fawley has a past history of serious physical and psychological abuse, particularly as regards females with whom he is smitten.
On at least one occasion it apears he left one feeling threatened for her life. Small wonder the authorities believe they have the suspect in custody.
Delano says Fawley had been harassing Crabill for weeks after their split, culminating with an incident in which Delano says Fawley broke into the apartment he and Delano share, holding a hammer and can of mace. Trespassing charges against Fawley were nolle prossed (dismissed) September 19. Delano says he didn't receive any notification by mail about any pending court dates, never therefore testified, and wonders whether that may explain why the case was dismissed.
In an exclusive story, Justice has learned the details of some of Fawley's still-murky past, including those related to incidents in which former girlfriends have been threatened or assaulted. In one case, according to a source, an ex-girlfriend feared that Fawley was going to kill her.
According to a Richmond resident and former friend of Fawley's who asked to remain anonymous because of concerns for her safety, in February of 2003 Fawley kept one ex-girlfriend in his apartment for hours, sobbing and saying: "I know I can make you love me again."
According to the source, Fawley choked the ex-girlfriend, whose identity Justice is not revealing out of concern for her privacy, for as long as 10 seconds -- "she lost air" -- the source said. The ex-girlfriend also watched helplessly as Fawley used a rug-cutting knife to cut his arms. She was eventually able to persuade him to come with her to the hospital to seek treatment, but he insisted on bringing the knife with him.
Fawley's former friend says that when Fawley entered his ex-girlfriend's car, with the knife in his pocket, the ex-girlfriend believed Fawley would kill her. Fawley's former friend, who is still friends with the ex-girlfriend, says that at the time the woman believed, "This is it, I'm done for." -
