- imasuperDOTcom, on 10/10/2008, -3/+40Personally, I'm quite frustrated with Digg. I submit good stuff a lot of the time (Sure, another mans junk is another mans treasure, so don't bother bashing my submissions) but rarely does it ever get too much attention.
Unfortunately, Digg has become a social playground where only the big kids get to play with everyone, and everyone wants to be their friend. In order to digg something that gets to the front page, you've got to be socially networked to a gazillion people. It's incredibly frustrating, and I'm considering no longer submitting content because of it. - mahadiga, on 10/11/2008, -0/+35Digg should not disclose the submitter name till his article has become popular in order to prevent collusion with voters.
- inactive, on 10/11/2008, -6/+27Am I the only person tired of the CONSTANT Kevin Rose asskissing on Digg?
- imasuperDOTcom, on 10/11/2008, -0/+16Hey... actually, that idea doesn't suck.
- WickEd101, on 10/11/2008, -0/+14Digg has always been like that. For as long as I can remember, 9 out of every 10 stories that hit front page are submitted by the top ten users. So you either get one of the top 10 submitters to submit it or don't bother.
- danieltr, on 10/11/2008, -0/+11Try submitting something pro-Bush or McCain, or anti-Obama. It gets buried before you can refresh, even when verifiable. I quit submitting completely.
- Mononuclear, on 10/11/2008, -0/+9Top diggers would still just send their friends the link to their stories to digg. You don't need a name on it when you tell everyone "Hey I submitted this story, digg it and I will digg your *****"
- Mononuclear, on 10/11/2008, -2/+10Nope. I think Kevin Rose is a douche. I laugh at all the people who worship the ground he walks on and have nerdgasms at the thought of meeting him. I think there are much better people to pick as heroes. I usually get dugg into oblivion if I mention anything negative about Kevin or laugh at the people who want to bear his children but oh well.

- dukeeeey, on 10/12/2008, -2/+8I think digg should be renamed to
www.MrBabyMan.com - WickEd101, on 10/11/2008, -4/+10I think the overall message of Digg is, and something I still feel accurately defines the site, its content is purely user-driven. And you can see this every day - how often do you get a porn site sitting in the top ten waiting to invade your computer, or a pyramid scheme making the rounds, or anything we typically try to avoid elsewhere on the Internet? It doesn't happen. For that purpose, I believe we can agree Digg does its job. Yes, we may not always agree with the news stories being displayed to us, but you won't get redirected to a Russian malware site.

You are correct. People would probably just use twitter to spam out their submitted stories.
Sadly, the only real way to "fix" this is to either limit the amount of friends you have to something much smaller, or just get rid of the whole friends functionality. - inactive, on 10/12/2008, -0/+5amen brother
- ericdano, on 10/11/2008, -3/+8No. He is an attention whore.
- j.carcinogen, on 10/12/2008, -0/+4Most things were better before they got popular. As Vonnegut said: so it goes.
Joined in the summer of 05 after just being a lurker to submit a story. 200+ diggs was a lot. - fin01, on 10/12/2008, -0/+4Remember when digg was a great science and tech news site for geeks by geeks?
Sigh, I'm getting nostalgic again. Disregard what I said. - jimmyobama, on 10/12/2008, -1/+3Hee hee, Kevin as web start-up poster boy. That's like Jessie Jackson poster boy for the african race.
- username7410, on 10/11/2008, -1/+3"But normally that sort of thing gets buried on its own because users won't promote piracy directly...We get a few a month but it's never a big deal because it's usually just blatant piracy."
Haha, sure. - zippy757, on 10/11/2008, -1/+3net-net... we're not getting any more money from anyone...what you see, is what you get....
...I expect we'll sadly see tons for $1.98 adds taking screen space away...... - fuxjoey, on 10/12/2008, -0/+2A Japanese version would be nice.
- TheMachine1, on 10/11/2008, -2/+2Most the frustration from the inability of a loner to get a story to the front page is quickly loss when you realize how unimportant it is.
- Phoenixheart, on 10/11/2008, -3/+3EARTH BREAKING! Digg to open international offices! Time to learn Memcache and JSON, people!
Or it's too late now? - Phoenixheart, on 10/11/2008, -10/+4Very likely so.
- UNDERSTAR, on 10/11/2008, -9/+2Dugg for Kevin Rose!

What is Digg?
