- Cstew, on 10/12/2007, -2/+34Yea it does actually.
- Popdmb, on 10/12/2007, -2/+29And if you're writing a paper on World Trade Center Building 7, you're probably already on my block list.
- Waterispoison, on 10/12/2007, -4/+30Umm yeah it does. I go there.
- donjaime, on 10/12/2007, -0/+24If by Georgia Tech study you mean a few students' term paper for an Online Communities class...
and by published you mean uploaded to Scribd....
Then yes, this was a decent Term paper. - fluidfoundation, on 10/12/2007, -2/+23Unless you're writing a paper on the WTC building 7, knock yourself out!
- ahill7, on 10/12/2007, -0/+16Well thought out paper, nonetheless.
Does this mean I can cite Digg as a scholarly source? - chris9902, on 10/12/2007, -0/+14digg isn't a news site. It's a link dump.
- res2, on 10/12/2007, -5/+17"What the good word?!"
To Hell With Georgia! - dpcdomino, on 10/12/2007, -1/+9Needs more pie charts....mmmmmm....pie....
- gldfshnpcklejar, on 10/12/2007, -0/+7Should have interviewed a digg troll. :)
- uttles, on 10/12/2007, -0/+7Usually the idea is to lengthen it out to the required amount of pages (in college.)
- berwiki, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4that was quite a comment. (trying to be even more generic in my response)
- donjaime, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4Did you even attempt to read it?
It was a student term paper, not a funded research study. - riccohasdug, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3My first and last negative complaint regarding Digg: It's a social networking site. Nothing more, nothing less. No matter how influential you perceive it to be in the wide world of "Teh Interwebs", it's subject to the same effects that every other similar Internet community is subject too: popularity.
Please, people: let it go. If you disagree with the "majority rules" structure, head elsewhere.
*massive burial and ridiculous comparisons to "slavery", political autocracy, the like soon follow* - mazdagirluk, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2@godawgs7 - What do you call a U(sic)GA grad in a suit? A defendant.
- ramaz, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3Interesting paper. It corroborates a lot of what we've observed and/or read about here on Digg.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -2/+4By interviewing "top submitters" the article loses all of the balance it could have had by choosing a statistically representative sample.
- drgordonfreeman, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2I know these folks and I'm sure they'll be thrilled to see that the Digg community has enjoyed their paper. Nice job, guys!
- esotericguy, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2(Insert Agreable Comment) !
- dykesat, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3So, do you work at the Turner office or the Chinese place? :)
- HA5TY, on 10/12/2007, -4/+6GO JACKETS!
- MrBabyMan, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2It should be noted that all names in the paper have been changed to protect identities, but for the most part they're all Digg users everyone here knows.
- tylerkempt, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Although I read most of this, if you're lazy like me, just skip ahead to the conclusion.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -2/+3"Husane"
:nervous: - CodenameEvan, on 10/12/2007, -2/+3As someone who's in the class and doing a similar paper on bix.com, I can definitely say, it''s hard trying to get anybody at all to agree to be interviewed, let alone a representative sample.
- ray901, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1A long read, but the article is good, it seems to have missed the ongoing flame wars that exist between different camps on digg (democrats/conservatives, Wii/Ps3, MS/rest of world etc), often repetitive, often repetitive they add nothing to the conversations and are often repetitive.
I agree with the article in that the avg level of comments is usually close to gutter sexist/racist etc.. - mustache, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Turner.
- ai52487963, on 12/31/2008, -0/+1Hardly publication quality. The references page looks like something someone would do for a high school research paper.
I'm not putting any scientific trust into this. - koregaonpark, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1"Rajeesh" is not a real Indian name. I thought they were going to change that. :-|
@Husane: Your alias sounds funky, man. Like something out of 300 or Kingdom of Heaven!
Update: Oh LOL, they got "Hussein" wrong, too. 'Husane' = 'Hussein'? Heh. Just like Rajeesh is supposed to be Rajesh. - Atomic1fire, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Digg gets alot of conflicting Opinions
Athiest/Christians
Liberal/Conservitive
Microsoft/apple and linux
Bush Haters/Bush backers
Nerdcore/Anyone Else - Atomic1fire, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Ill recite Pie
apple
rubarb and strawbarry
bannana cream
So what if a college graduate can do that - mustache, on 10/12/2007, -3/+4Considering I work within a block of GT, across the street from the basketball arena, I will have to digg this based on proximity.
- kinkyboots02, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Interesting article and well worth taking the time to read.
- Samstar, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1could they have not shortened that in ANY way??
- slapded, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0didnt have any pictures or fancy graphs. i hate reading.
- GoDawgs7, on 10/12/2007, -3/+2at least we have girls...
and you think im exaggerating. The ratio at UGA is 60/40 girls. compare that to 30/70 at Tech.
And how's your football team looking? - kemble54, on 10/12/2007, -4/+2What's the Good Word?
George P. Burdell - darkzeroman, on 10/12/2007, -3/+1Dugg for probably going there in the year of 2007.
- Spiritcatcher, on 10/12/2007, -2/+0It was a rambling wreck. One more for you to digg down submitter. You're likely the only one still lurking.
- Spiritcatcher, on 10/12/2007, -2/+0I'm waiting for the Cliff Notes. Made it all the way to page 10. The paralysis of ANALysis.
- kaiser44, on 10/12/2007, -4/+1read it and it sucked, useless waste of time.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -5/+2for some reason the name "MrBabyMan" cracks me up every time I see it.
- bmobile, on 10/12/2007, -6/+2Yeah, to hell with Georgia. In the same vein, screw UNC too. I wanted my Wolfpack to make it to the tourney this year...we played sooo well the past few games.
- kaiser44, on 10/12/2007, -6/+1what they do not have important things to do at G..T.
thank God ANOTHER useless study that means nothing,I wonder if they got a government grant to do it? - uttles, on 10/12/2007, -6/+1How'd y'all like that beatdown in the valley last year! Go Tigers!
/cool paper, dugg
//didn't dig you up or down though - KicktheDonkey, on 10/12/2007, -9/+3Must be UGA fans digging me down... :)
- wTheOnew, on 10/12/2007, -8/+2Georgia Institute of Technology - Georgia Tech - GT
Made it to the tournament and now the front page of Digg, way to go Jackets!
What the good word?! - KicktheDonkey, on 10/12/2007, -17/+8Dugg cause it's from Georgia Tech.
Go Jackets!
I'm a Ramblin' Wreck from Georgia Tech and a hell of an engineer,
A helluva, helluva, helluva, helluva, hell of an engineer,
Like all the jolly good fellows, I drink my whiskey clear,
I'm a Ramblin' Wreck from Georgia Tech and a hell of an engineer.
Oh, if I had a daughter, sir, I'd dress her in White and Gold,
And put her on the campus, to cheer the brave and bold.
But if I had a son, sir, I'll tell you what he'd do.
He would yell, "To Hell with Georgia," like his daddy used to do.
Oh, I wish I had a barrel of rum and sugar three thousand pounds,
A college bell to put it in and a clapper to stir it around.
I'd drink to all good fellows who come from far and near.
I'm a ramblin', gamblin', hell of an engineer. - Prysorra, on 10/12/2007, -15/+6@ waterispoison
Me too =D - fluidfoundation, on 10/12/2007, -59/+2Georgia Institute of Technology != Georgia Tech.
