- airwalkery2k, on 10/12/2007, -2/+26Man down! I repeat: man down!
We're sending for backup and more video tape. - drmangrum, on 10/12/2007, -2/+23Why would you take a shower with a stranger in your house?
And how big is the flash drive in that camera phone that he can just leave it running in the hopes of capturing her taking a shower? - epilonious, on 10/12/2007, -1/+20Oh gawd. How does one try and explain away this one?
"I was videotaping myself taking a dump while undergoing auto-erotic asphyxiation... I must have blacked out and forgotten about my cellphone..."
"There was no video of you defecating sir.."
"The video must have reset itself"
"you are recorded saying 'this is gonna be so hot' and giving a 'thumbs-up' to the camera"
"..." *shoves a twix bar into his mouth* - Unclekoolaid, on 10/12/2007, -3/+22And another reason why no one should use them, they probably charged her to hook up that camera as well!
- bigfkncee, on 10/12/2007, -0/+16IMHO, it seems like the BestBuy/GeekSquad marriage is nothing but problems
- danakin, on 10/12/2007, -1/+15I'll digg both stories, simply because Geek Squad is evil enough that this needs to get out there.
Geek Squad: Because spyware scans SHOULD cost 100 bucks... - badave, on 10/12/2007, -0/+12@bsolidgold
Gotta watch the video.
Geeksquad really isn't responsible though. They hired a creep, happens all the time. - linuxwarz, on 10/12/2007, -0/+10Dugg this instead of the other on the front page. This is the real story.
- rjam710, on 10/12/2007, -0/+10That's more of a fact than an opinion.
- Mejogid, on 10/12/2007, -0/+8@Djanakin
When you find the need to bost about that sort of thing to anonymous strangers on the internet, it's generally not true. - winman15, on 10/12/2007, -4/+11exactly...im calling some BS on this
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -1/+7Did you even get the joke the above commenter was trying to make? Apparently NOT.
- se7en11, on 10/12/2007, -3/+9@drmangrum
I've got a 2GB SD card in a Treo and it can take about 15 min of video. Not really the point, but I would think the lenses on the camera would get pretty fogged up in the bathroom. - andyzies, on 10/12/2007, -0/+6To fishy....
What 14 year old, and 20 some year old cant operate a phone, and check the video right there!
Sounds like somebody is after some money!
Lame - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+6Did anyone else notice that black anchorman was the same guy as this guy?
http://tinyurl.com/2aj8b2 - sw1ft, on 10/12/2007, -0/+6Oh, and filming someone naked without their permission is kinda against the law. Has nothing to do with nudity being taboo.
- SwellGuy007, on 10/12/2007, -1/+6That wasn't Gary Coleman, it was an Oompaloompa.
- epilonious, on 10/12/2007, -3/+7Okay. You've just been taped in the shower but got the chip. Are you not going to feel violated or in some way creeped out that someone came into your bathroom to see you naked?
Granted, I would never take a shower with service people in the house. It's rude bordering on stupid. - ethnicman, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4It is not like she was home by herself and decided to take a shower while the "tech" was there. She was there with her mom and sister. She had every expectation of privacy.
- black27696, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4He shouldn't have done it, it's a violation of privacy, down with geeksquad.
that being said, I'd like to see the video. - crtjer, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4I think the age
- antoniojvr, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4How Coochie?
- bigfkncee, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4@ se7en11
i have a treo 650 with a 1gb card and if you lower the resolution ,you can take like an 1 1/2 hr video if you save to the card - Lionhart, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3Are you serious? This very same story is already on the front page, and its one story next to it.. Although it seems this one was made 3 hours before it. HMMMM.
- abcdefghij, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4uh.. the girl that was spied on had her sister and her mother in the house. They could've accompanied/kept an eye on the technician.
- mtekk, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3@badave:
Look up respondeat superior, and you'll realize Geek Squad is liable for the actions of their employees. It may not seem right but that's that law. - sketchydave, on 10/12/2007, -2/+5Chances are its not the first time this guy has done this. If he was arrested they probably got a warrant, searched his house, and found more evidence of other crimes.
- jpie05, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4Why does taking a shower in your own damn house become rude once a computer technician is at the house? It wasn't as if she was the only one home, her mother and sister were there. She's not technically savvy, she didn't need to watch the guy work.
- iamasmallgoat, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3What is with the child molestation charge they mentioned at the end of the video clip?
- crtjer, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3Well this is why you don't use Geek Squad :)
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4@epilonious
Wow, you sound like an uptight priss. I'm not going to rearrange my daily routine when a service tech/repairman comes over. Recently a repairman came over to fix the furnace, well I needed to take a shower to get ready to go work. So I did, no big deal. It's MY house, I will do what I need to do, when I need to do it, in my house. My daily routine doesn't have to come to a halt or be rearranged just because a service tech/repairman comes over.
That woman had every right to take a shower in her own home, if and when she needed to. Especially if others were home to help ensure her privacy. Sure, if she didn't really 'need' to take a shower just then, it was a bad idea. But we don't know what her schedule was.
And, don't most service tech/repairman give an 'approximate time' as when they will be there? How can you plan your daily routine around that? As I said before: it's my home, I'll do what I need to, whenever I need to. - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Entrapment it`s a geek what did she expect.
- techiemike, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2how the heck did he set up the phone to record her taking a shower at a specific time? and how could it have been more than 15 seconds of video? this must be some crazy uberhightech phone, because all the ones i've ever seen can't do that. i say it was a setup.
- se7en11, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2I think it's because he's Chinese...
- trilioth, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3@ sw1ft True. There could be other indications that the the card was not rigged, and that his phone was actually left in the bathroom with the intent to record.
- jhonizzle, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Hao Kuo Chi ...... "how could she" in choppy chinenglish? couldn't find a facebook....myspace anyone?
- snockhockster, on 10/12/2007, -3/+5One of the stories states that he is charged with one count of child molestation.
How the hell? Or is this like the ATHF marketers being terrorist? - Cirrius, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2I've never seen a cellphone, ever, that has a blinking red record light. Only video cameras have those. Not to mention that a cellphone can't record long enough to set it there and walk away. I'm calling ***** on this one, they are trying to get money out of Best Buy and I hope they get busted instead of BB going for a quick settlement to shut them up.
- sdub74, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2You're both clueless. The video was stored to a memory card, probably a micro SD card. You can't store video to a SIM card.
- screensnot, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2"According the article the technician arrived around 10:00AM. Who randomly takes a shower at lunch time?"
Not everyone takes a shower as soon as they rise. When I have the opportunity to sleep late, I do. If I wake earlier than necessary, I usually lay around the house, then get in the shower about 30 min before I need to leave.
How is it that you know what this girls schedule was for that particular day, or what her shower habits are? - neba, on 10/12/2007, -12/+14At least she's cute.
- mrsmalkav, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2There were two other people in the house. It's not like she was there by herself. (and saying, "Oh hi Mr Computer Repair person... I'm having a problem with *mount* and I think I need to be *fingered*. Can you help me?" while wearing nothing a bathrobe....)
If you have a gardener outside, and your mother in the house, are you not going to use the bathroom? Or if you had a carpenter working on the house, and other people were there, would you not take a nap? Especially if you could lock the door?
You do what you need to do when you need to do it. - Jshnlsn, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2She's 22. And why are there '2' counts of invasion of privacy?
- andshewas, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Why the hell did they remove the sim card and take it to a VERIZON store? Verizon doesn't even use sim cards.
I think this is bogus. - howyoudoin, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2are these the kin folks of Jennifer Wilbanks? because this just doesnt all add up!
- TDot1980, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1What a horribly written article!
- wmtrader, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1
Makes you wonder who took the video, the Geek Squad Tech or the Sister?
If she had the phone in her hand why would she need to go to a Verizon store to see what was on the memory card?
Did the Tech leave his phone laying about and the sister grabbed it for some fun and a nice little law suite pay out from BestBuy, after all Tech's aren't real people and BestBuy is a big company with a lot of money run by evil executives.
Just a thought. - crtjer, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2Wait also why would you be taking a shower with a technician in your house? That seems kinda dumb on her part.
- mtekk, on 10/12/2007, -2/+3@abcdefghij:
Does it matter that others were home? When you have someone that is no a family member or close friend over at your house do you just go take a shower. According the article the technician arrived around 10:00AM. Who randomly takes a shower at lunch time? I know she may have worked out, etc. (though nothing confirms this to be the case) However, she could have waited until the technician left before showering. Some things about this just seem too odd. If she isn't exaggerating or lying to be a media whore, I feel bad for her. If she is just being a media whore, the I'd feel really bad for the Geek Squad technician as he is screwed no matter what the outcome of the case is. - pappas215, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I'd Hit it
