- dh122, on 05/24/2008, -2/+50We just downed Harvard's server. ***** HARVARD.
- LilBambi, on 05/24/2008, -1/+49Wonderful news! Rest in Pieces DRM ... and may you never have any more.
- andrew522, on 05/24/2008, -0/+30I think its safe to say that DRM will go to Hell.
- inobla, on 05/24/2008, -2/+30I piss on your grave.
- TheFinaleofSeem, on 05/24/2008, -0/+21Um, DRM is still very much alive and kicking. It's finally starting to go away with music, but Sony still LOVES it on BluRay. And how about restrictive software licensing? This funeral is pretty damned premature.
- Bacontastic, on 05/24/2008, -3/+21Score one for digg...?
- tenjin1, on 05/24/2008, -2/+19Good Riddance!
- Jereso, on 05/24/2008, -2/+15Are you saying Zunes have DRM? Because they don't... at all.
- elocina, on 05/24/2008, -4/+14Awesome idea! Wish I had heard about it sooner so I could attend, but I already made other plans.
- mnortei, on 05/24/2008, -5/+13Mirror anyone? ***** THING SUCKS
- Kingoftherings, on 05/24/2008, -2/+10ELIMINATE DRM
- Zuwiki, on 05/24/2008, -0/+8Yes, and no one will be praying for it's resurrection ( http://floridaoutpouring.com/Home/tabid/351/EntryI ... )
- Jereso, on 05/24/2008, -1/+8YA RLY
- dh122, on 05/24/2008, -3/+9Fine then, douchebag.
We just downed _A_ Harvard server. ***** HARVARD. - santaliqueur, on 05/24/2008, -2/+8You seem to think ALL Harvard sites are operated from one server. New to the internetz?
http://toolbar.netcraft.com/netblock?q=HARVARD-COL ... - Cyber_Akuma, on 05/24/2008, -0/+6I would love this to be real, but sadly, to me it feels like holding a funeral while the body is still alive and gasping for breath, you know it will be dead someday, but its not dead yet.
It just sounds too good to be true, DRM finally dying, I just can't see it happening, especially with how much the RIAA and MPAA is pushing for it. It is sorta dying in the music industry but its still pretty damn strong in the video industry, even Apple feels DRM is necessary for video though not for music. - ramayac, on 05/24/2008, -7/+13Sorry I couldn't be there, rest in peace DRM, ... and NEVER come back!
- benitojuarez, on 05/24/2008, -0/+5See the thing is i continue to pay my subscription fees its not like im passing out copies on the street corner or the neighborhood torrent site. All im doing is removing the drm, nothing else. Im not even violating the 3 device rule. So how exactly am i stealing?
- tibbon, on 05/24/2008, -0/+5I am the photographer for the funeral tomorrow. Photos will be on flickr at http://flickr.com/photos/davefishernc (no point in hitting it now asides from tons of ROFLCon photos). Photos from yesterday were by Christina Xu. This will be a triumph! I can't wait!
- dietprozac, on 05/24/2008, -1/+6Why would anyone *mourn* DRM? I think a grave dancing party would be more appropriate.
- lacreme, on 05/24/2008, -2/+6***** DRM SUCKS!
- CodeCobalt, on 05/24/2008, -4/+8or dugg down for not knowing what you're talking about, and thinking that MS products working with MS products is freedom.
- motters, on 05/24/2008, -0/+4Claims of the demise of DRM may be greatly exaggerated. Although at present it seems to be in retreat, there are still plenty of companies peddling digitally restricted products. Initial battles may have been won, but the war is not over.
- ruiacp, on 05/24/2008, -0/+4DRM funeral?
Dont bury it, burn it and throw the ashes to space to be caught by a black hole and never escape.
RIP. (Rest in PAIN) - aserer511, on 05/24/2008, -0/+3I support this notion but in the iPod and Zune's defense, these devices can play non-DRM content. true enough their DRM sucks on its own, but hey... give minor credit where due.
Look, no one really LIKES DRM, but we can't blame companies for wanting to support their own music stores and associated devices - OrangeTide, on 05/24/2008, -0/+3DRM isn't dead. IT'S JUST GETTING STARTED. We'll be in DRM hell once the corporations regroup and come up with a new strategy to maximize profits by selling consumers an inferior product.
- NeoNightmareX, on 05/24/2008, -1/+4Actually, it is "Hah-vahd"
- rebrad, on 05/24/2008, -1/+4I call iBlasphemy! and this is an affront to our iLord. Every iGod fearing being knows that the only thing that can surpass iTunes is a newer version of the blessed application. These incorrigible msatanists should be bound and burnt on the iStake at the alter of our iLord, Steve Jobs.
- rjosal, on 05/24/2008, -1/+3DRM dies and they bury hardware. When my grandfather dies, do I bury his car? This is like constructing a coffin for the Laplace Transform.
- Akraz, on 05/24/2008, -2/+4BURN IN HELL DRM. BURN IN HELL.
- Emachine, on 05/24/2008, -1/+3Shiit, I was just there last Saturday. Can't these things be announced in advance?
- MrViklund, on 05/24/2008, -0/+2What are you talking about? DRM is great!
- carloszun, on 05/24/2008, -0/+2It should have been called iZuneral.
- benitojuarez, on 05/24/2008, -0/+2well if you dont pay you cant download anymore, so id be sol for new music. zune marketplace is faster than newsgroups. Easier to find stuff too.
- Vodd9, on 05/24/2008, -1/+3Funeral? It's not like we'll be missing DRM, or something...
- christianboutin, on 05/24/2008, -0/+2In the era of BluRay, Xbox Live Marketplace, Playstation and Nintendo stores, Steam, all movies digital "rental" streaming or download services, with progress that still needs to be made in music, DRM is actually as strong as it's ever been in all aspects of digital content save for a few setbacks in music. The keyword of new consumption : have people buy the same ***** as many times as possible by restricting the way they can use what they already bought.
No my friend, as you have said, the funeral is extremely premature. - benitojuarez, on 05/24/2008, -11/+13meh, i LOVE my zune, And the zune pass is something itunes doesnt offer, and with my handy dandy friend tunebite i can remove drm from any track i wish. You can throw all the drm at me you want to, I'll just remove it dmca be damned.
In addition I don't get why, aside from the picture, this article acts like ipods dont have drm support. Wasn't there a whole uproar about itunes tracks containing your credit card info? - tibbon, on 05/24/2008, -0/+2They are if you're on the right lists :)
- igothugeguns, on 05/24/2008, -2/+4pwnd server death sploded.
- cuzinvinnie, on 07/27/2008, -0/+1by the way if any1 doesnt like 2 hear what i say ur technology is perfected bcause of me. i had cracks in my programs. i slipped off line once the President did a flyover from dayton ohio to pittsburgh pa i was bounced off line again. some ***** opened an active X in front of me and some1 must haqve been peeking in on me and delivered a new worm through me. it looks like junk i wouldnt steal something that looks like this but the perfection is in the gateways now. i want 2 b part of mission control with interactive tv interactive internet both of which i already have i can deliver messages through the search bars received as e-mails and taljk to the news if its live sometimes i make them laugh without any reason that is the biggest give away. i say 2 bad Mr VPP Dick Cheney the FBI and CIA and Armed Forces luv me bcuz u suck a wet 1 wtc and flight 93 piss me off Stillettoes 4 Hillary America's White Bufallo!

- cuzinvinnie, on 07/23/2008, -0/+1get me the gateway monster beast classified version
- darkamster07, on 05/24/2008, -0/+1you know there are players other than the zune and ipod, i think they are both crap really, but I do have to give credit to apple for allowing
DRM-free tracks on alot of the music I enjoy, which is enough reason to buy an album instead of torrenting it as i usually do, but in addition they all come in a higher bitrate, and better sounding AAC! how could you pass that up? BT is great, but too many are clinging still to MP3, and the availability of music in flac is pretty slim... - cuzinvinnie, on 07/27/2008, -0/+1XP OS X Linux and Vista all on a cheap mistake of an e-machine so suck me u guys I killed the KKK with a little help from my friends, I virused the CIA Cheney myself the Real Dick Chainy If We the People all get together mayb We can est some kind of peace without a VPP like Dick C PA rules We the People need help 2 convict the bush administration. - bdbr, on 05/24/2008, -0/+1And yet, here a day after DRM's "funeral", all but of iTunes' top 10 albums is DRMed (and that album has only one song available). Big labels (and Steve Jobs) talk a good line about getting rid of DRM, but very little content is actually being offered DRM-free (except from Amazon US). It almost feels like they're trying to do the bare minimum necessary to shut us up. You'd think Harvard kids would be smart enough not to fall for that.
- cuzinvinnie, on 07/27/2008, -0/+1o by the way i have 2 of those e-machines. i cant wait 2 wreak havock on another live broacast. mayb regis n kelly monday. i am looking 4 highspeed agin some1 1nt in, password cuzinand spell it my way

- uhaja, on 09/22/2008, -0/+1They need to buy some shoes http://shoesbunch.com/mudd-shoes/
- Mexiborg, on 06/10/2008, -0/+1Yay for the end of DRM! (Unfortunatley, ACTA has rised from the ashes -- it's worse than DRM.)
- cuzinvinnie, on 07/27/2008, -0/+1Get me the System and I pefect it I have the assistance infact I might actually see it in storage right now waiting to b set up. u guys suck. I actually had a virus that wasnt written yet
