- xiangxianni, on 02/13/2009, -0/+1Some of you might remember it. I'm currently using ATI's MMC 8.5 on my Radeon AIW 8500. I've been looking for a new menu software, as MMC's 'menu' systems aren't that great. http://www.registrycleanersreviews.info
- teckbri, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Ok, so how stable is Media Portal at this point? I am currently using MCE 2005 and I am happy with it except I would like to see com skip which MS is not about to provide. I know, I know...why MCE? Well, truth is, I has a lot of features and it's wife friendly. I can't setup a beta pvr and expect the wife to tolerate it. I have a power house system with more than enough ram and processing power to probably use any of these solutions, I just need to keep it stable.
- SupaDawgX, on 10/16/2007, -0/+1it's a great project. being co-dev'd by the guys at XBMC. skins only need slight modifications to work on MP (except PM3).
And plugins make this thing sing. whooo! - frontbrain, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1"sense this is open source, I may sound dumb but its just a program I can load on windows? " Yes, you can just load it on windows like any other software. Open source basically just means that the source code is freely available to modify.

Oh yeah?.... Hmm, I guess that's why Firefox isn't as good as IE. (rolls eyes) - JamminR, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Reminds me -alot- of an old free but not open source at the time project called MyHTPC. The actual code of the main program wasn't open source, but many of the plugins for it were, and were community driven. Pablo was the author of it. Some of you might remember it. I'm currently using ATI's MMC 8.5 on my Radeon AIW 8500. I've been looking for a new menu software, as MMC's 'menu' systems aren't that great. (Program guide = Guide+ = YUCK!!) and MyHTPC kind of fizzled when Pablo went commercial.
I've not heard of GBPVR, I'll have to google it and look at it too. - FunkyGuy, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0sense this is open source, I may sound dumb but its just a program I can load on windows? (I know nothing about linux, so windows is much easier for me)
If it is, I will probably grab all the parts in my attic and put a PC together so I can test this out. - stevepr, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0How does this compare to GBPVR. I have been ussing gbpvr for about 4 months now and love it! Has anyone used both? If so which one is better?
- AbeFroman, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I've looked at this a while, don't have a tvtuner card yet, but the music and picture viewing look nice.
- mutant, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0anyone know of a reliable site that reviews tv tuners?
- ryguy, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I set this up about 6 months ago, and hardly used it. However last weekend I spent a few hours building and customizing it and its GREAT!
It does everything it says and more! It downloads movie information (Actors, genres, movie-art etc) for all of my movies and some TV shows I have recorded or archived on my pvr. It wakes up to record then goes back to sleep. Great product :) - Bigbro69, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Just waiting for my TV card to be delivered and I'm going to use this. Was going to use MythTV for linux, but Fedora Core 3 doesn't like my PCI cards. :-( Have to admit, this has much more visual appeal and features than MythTV though.
+ Digg. - FunkyGuy, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0tonyhon - *most* of the programs I have seen that are open source you download the source seperatly.
aren't HDTV tuner cards going to be illegal to sell in like July or something? - T8_um, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0This thing is full of nice features... Especially for a PRE-Release. It works fairly well, however I have noticed some bugs. Can't wait for next release. The program uses alot of RAM, my page file jumps from about 100MB to 500MB! while running. U might want to wait for the next release :~)
- infra172, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0They forgot to mention that it sucks.
- gummybear, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Sorry guys, I'm not impressed with this project. I tried it; it's buggy and slow. Compared to SageTV or BeyondTV you are just wasting your time. Great idea, but it's hard to compete with a commercial product...
- tykam, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0The PVR-250 or 150 by Hauppauge are arguably the best capture cards out there. I currently am heavy into SnapStream Beyond TV, but I'll take a look at this.
- tonyhon, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I installed the program, looks great.
But where can I see and modify it's source? I can't seem to find it, all I see is DLL. Anyone? - Funman1, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0tomshardware.com I think does.. They review just about anything tech, and they are EXTREMELY detail savy. I love their reviews
