- JoshM, on 10/12/2007, -1/+7too funny - you must be using Windows / IE to go to the page. Lame.
Nope Im using firefox and just requested one - ledrevolver, on 10/12/2007, -0/+6Anyone else think there are way too many comments on this story?
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -2/+7Realize this is coming directly from Windows Vista's security budget.
- JustMatt, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5I love that there are 4000+ diggs, and no one who has verified receiving theirs yet =P. Oh well, I dugg it too, it seems plenty legit to me. This is actually pretty sweet if it is more than 32mb. Reminds me of ordering free Ubuntu cds. It takes frikin forever, but it is a nice surprise a month or two down the road when you have completely forgot/stopped caring.
- fearfactor, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4what part of the ""please allow 6-8 weeks ........."" that you guys don't get??!!!
and btw staticfish its been only 35days not months.
1more thing which is the part in the fine print that says""while supplies last"" meaning just because you ordered it that would guarantee you will get it and as you can see from their page it says supplies gone. - l7productions, on 10/12/2007, -2/+6Soon as I get it... formatted!
- DyceFreak, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4"Thank you for requesting the Mystery Solved USB drive loaded with valuable information. Please allow 6-8 weeks for delivery."
I think ill wait till then to digg this - MartinBob, on 10/12/2007, -1/+5Ohh *****. I used 'Mr.' as my prefix and 'Microsoft Server Management' as my suffix.
When my friends see that I'm getting free ***** because I'm "Mr. Martin-Bob, Microsoft Server Management" they're going to be like "WHEN THE HELL DID YOU GET THAT POSITION?" - agimat, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4Can't wait to install linux on my new shiny Microsoft thumb drive.

Thank you for your interest in the Mystery Solved Windows® licensing promotion. We've received your request for more information to help clarify Microsoft® Windows Desktop Licensing pre-loaded on the USB drive. Unfortunately, this Mystery Solved promotion was available in the U.S. only and while supplies last.
Please utilize the online alternative today, by simply downloading* the Windows Desktop Licensing reference files directly at:
www.microsoft.com/mysterysolved/corp
To help simplify Windows Desktop Licensing, keep these points in mind:
There are two legal ways to acquire a full Windows Desktop license: through your hardware vendor (OEM/System Builder) or Full Packaged Product.
Volume licensing covers Windows Desktop operating system upgrades only.
OEM operating system licenses live and die with each PC–they are not transferable.
Again, thank you for your interest in Mystery Solved and for helping us spread the word about proper Windows licensing. (And steal from us some more)
Sincerely,
Microsoft Corporation

SO WHY THE ***** IS THERE A CANADA OPTION?!!?!??!?!?!?!!? - jazzwolf, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4IBM had something like this a while back... and I never got the thumbdrive, lol.
- netant, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4I got the FU email today as well. I'll have to check whether Long Island (Suffolk County), NY is considered part of the United States of America. I applied for the promotion hours after I saw it on digg.com. It was weeks before they shutdown the promotional application.
What really pisses me off is that Microsoft made me create a passport account with my physical address information on it. Otherwise, I wouldn't give a damn. I better not get any junk mail from them. - trae, on 10/12/2007, -1/+5I filled it out on firefox/debian, no problem.
- Gottschalk, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4You fools! Don't you see what Microsoft is doing? You give them your information and acknowledge that you understand the legalities of software licensing... you'll all be hearing from MS lawyers soon enough.
- Amplix, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4It will explode when I plug it into my Mac... teh pwnz0rz!
- GloriousNight, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4I ordered 4. 1 for everyone in my family but my dad, and then another for "Hugh G Rection." =) =)
- yeahimthatcool, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4It doesn't work in Safari (how surprising). It worked fine in Firefox on windows, though.
- slugicide, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4"Please allow 6-8 weeks..." cool.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3Watch it be an old school aol type floopy disk with the words "USB drive" labed on it lol.
- bobbyj1049, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4it works fine in firefox
- theplop, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3Well, it's official...

- JustMatt, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2What does that prove again?
- meegosh, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Wow is all I have to say, you guys are ungrateful. This has been plastered all over the internet so don't think just because it's on digg its gonna be pulled. It's all over fatwallet, slickdeals, etc.. Easily 10,000+ ppl signed up for this one. Who cares if its a 32mb or 2gig? It's free people. Those of you who think it contains probes and other stuff, get real. They better have a license agreement that pops up as soon as you plug it in if they're installing stuff to check your licenses.
- favoriteguy, on 10/12/2007, -0/+216MB is good enough. You can use that for alot.
Its at least good for a drive that you use every once in a while. Good replacement for a floppy drive. - Daniel591992, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2You know this how?...
- 12340987, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2uh, they do now...
- Cojawfee, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3It would be funny if it wasn't really flash memory, just a ROM with their crap on it that can't be removed. We would all be got.
- akifbayram, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1"watch it be like 1gb THAT would be schweeeet LOL

*This offer is available in the U.S. only while supplies last. Limit one per customer. Please allow 6-8 weeks for delivery. - coonzel, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1The company/organization box is a required field... anybody figure this USB drive deal was designed for corporate folk, rather than home users like us?
Also, with this in mind, do you think they would actually issue this many drives with the sudden high demand for them? Think about the short amount of time this was dugg vs the amount of people who signed up for one. Aha, I hope I get a new thumb drive. - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1"Nothing like using fake names"
mine's "Dr Robert Brown" you should see how many free condom samples i got once, i think they gave me extra's for my "patients" - Bahwoot, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Watch this USB drive come WRITE PROTECTED without a swich, so you can't delete/put your own files.
- JustMatt, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Actually that's really not true. True, the tone changes when MS starts offering free stuff. But NOT true that the only reason people like Linux is because it's free. I enjoy learning Linux and understanding software and computer systems more. Also, my time as plenty of value, but you can always find time to learn a little Linux on the side. And to be honest with you, MS is plenty "free" if you know where to look. Good day.
Free = mod - WarBicycle, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1The literature states that the USB drive is load with surprise goodies; probably a summons. Read the questions, answer them correctly and you admit that you understand the meaning of pirated software. They probably had a good look at your computer when you sent in the answers to the questions. Those with illegal copies of Microsoft's software will probably win a USB drive complete with a summons to appear in court. The police use similar tactics to round up crooks, tell them they won a prize and then arrest them when they show up to claim it.
- ThisGeek, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I've never been sent anything I've found for free via digg.
