- Djerrid, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3Thank you for your interest in the Mystery Solved Windows® licensing promotion. We've received your request for more information to help clarify Microsoft® Windows Desktop Licensing pre-loaded on the USB drive. Unfortunately, this Mystery Solved promotion was available in the U.S. only and while supplies last. Supply is depleted at this time, so we encourage you to please utilize the online alternative today.
Simply download* the Windows Desktop Licensing reference files directly at:
www.microsoft.com/mysterysolved/corp
To help simplify Windows Desktop Licensing, keep these points in mind:
There are two legal ways to acquire a full Windows Desktop license: through your hardware vendor (OEM/System Builder) or Full Packaged Product.
Volume licensing covers Windows Desktop operating system upgrades only.
OEM operating system licenses live and die with each PC–they are not transferable.
Again, thank you for your interest in Mystery Solved and for helping us spread the word about proper Windows licensing.
Sincerely,
Microsoft Corporation

Switch: NO USB DRIVE FOR YOU!
Did *anyone* get one? - erazmus, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4Microsoft sent me a backorder notice on April 6th saying it was backordered until April 20th, but assured me that they would ship it to me. I haven't received anything since.
- dutter, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Not me, I received the same email as well.
- schlagzeuger, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1i received nothing but their lame-ass email excuse
- mobyrock, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I never got my USB drive either, but Microsoft has been kind enough to send me multiple emails about their Windows Desktop Licensing program. Apparently this is supposed be a fair trade.
Lesson learned: Never expect something for nothing. - lord2800, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Got the same email. How annoying.
- allisonaxe, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1i didn't get mine, but I did get an email. i'm a little bit upset, but I half expected to not get anything all along (other than a guilt-trip telling me to get a proper registration key for windows.)
hooray for microsoft! pissing off customers by borking a promotion is a great way to prevent piracy! - BluKnight, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Same here. However, it was a long-shot at best. I doubt their supply was about a few hundred USB drives.
- rain9441, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Got the same email, no usb-drive for me.
- leptonbill, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Be sure to drink your Ovaltine. Ovaltine? A crummy commercial? Son of a bitch!
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Hope ONE of these makes the mainpage. I'm wondering is anyone got one of these drives and can post an image of it.
- raitchison, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Got the same E-Mail
/metoo - dbuttry, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Not only did I just get that email...I had used my work number when I registered and they called me yesterday wanting to explain how their licensing worked...talk about bait and switch!
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I received a call from them yesterday at work after the email was sent. They wanted to offer to send the materials out on CD. I told them I already have spindles full of CDs and that I wanted teh USB drive so I could wipe their crappy materials off of it. The rep just laughed. I told them to never call me again. He followed up with calling 5 of my coworkers that had also signed up for the USB drives.
As previously stated....bait & switch.
My guess is the drives all BSOD'd systems when plugged into the USB port. - ejschaefer, on 04/16/2008, -0/+0damn it, just got my email. Maybe they realized I really don't care about acquiring licenses
