- cmainiac666, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1why not just go to http://www.netlibrary.com/?
- SuperMoonMan, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I just registered. All you have to do is put your name and email in there and you're done. You don't need to be a member of the library or anything.
- macsrock03, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0this is weird. i got in earlier. now I can't. I have to login. anyone else having this problem?
- zeppelin06, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0looks cool, how is everyone logging in though? Bugmenot doesn't
- macsrock03, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0How do you register?
- punisher18, on 10/12/2007, -0/+019 diggs better get this on the front page ;)
- macsrock03, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0where do you got to register?
- kayakertim, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I was logged in and retrieved books but now am unable to log in anymore. Have tried several times over several days but to no avail. Is there something I'm missing? I am going through the LA library.
- redzombi2k, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0OK, I guess I'm either dumb or just new to the whole online library thing, because I cant find where you login at, or where you browse for books to check out.
- nwhiatt, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0This LA library site with all the free books works great, but the WMA lisc expires after 21 days and you can only download 5 books at a time (you will have to wait 21 days to "checkout" more).
I have the same issue as a lot of you. I have an mp3 player that is not supported so I have to find a way to rip it to MP3. As far as I have been able to determine, there is no known easy crack for the WMA digital copy protection. The best I could find is an open source free program that records the sound directly from your sound card. This means that if you download an audio book that is 12 hours long, it will take 12 hours to convert it.
Here is the link to the program (muvaudio):
http://www.muvaudio.com/ - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0How do you convert WMA with DRM?
- nickster, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Because you are not able to register without going, through the library's website.
- punisher18, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0haha iam becoming a regular bookie ..wow thats a bad joke..
- macsrock03, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0ok I'm able to download. I had to use FireFox instead of Safari.
- ampa, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0well thats sucks it wont work with a mac or my ipod. back to audible i go
- xipho, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0http://www.netlibrary.com/Help/Default.aspx?Page=FAQ there's also some more help at the site if you check around
- macsrock03, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Ok, now that i'm in I'm having problems downloading. I'm on a mac and I have Windows Media Player 9 and when I click to dowload it windows media player opens. Then this message pops up: The playlist format is not recognized. Any help would sure be appreciated
- mdarby, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I just entered a free registration, good selection, when someone cracks the licensing let me know ;)
- gmcsmalls, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0it sucks b/c you only get the media for 21 days..unless you want to make it an even more lossy quality. ill find this elsewhere
- infra172, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Finally I can download a copy of "7 Simple Steps to Unclutter Your Life" and not have to keep returning it to the library!
- ChiefIcaroc, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0My account was cancelled as well. All of the LA ones were killed I presume. What you will need to do now is go to your local library and show your card and then sign up for an account. After you go about legally getting an account, you may then resume stripping the DRM and putting them on your iPod.
- optimus_k, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0come on.... someone, please! help us! where do we go to register?
- .Steven, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0oh.. good link.. thx
- Sionide, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Bugmenot.com worked fine for me. Nice digg..
- bdee1, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0DRM wont let me burn to CD - whenever i get audiobooks i listen to them from CD in my car - thats the only time i really have for it.
any ideas how to get them onto cd? - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Me too.
Oh well.
Damn. - gronne, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0BugMeNot wasn't any help. Anyone know of a shared login for this?
- nwhiatt, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I actually have a subscription to audible, and love it. My favorite mp3 player does not support audible’s format. So I convert my audio books that I own to mp3 for playback on my mobile device. It took some digging, but a while back I finally found 2 sites that do a fairly good job of explaining the process:
http://www.mp3machine.com/discussion/messages/11975.shtml
First post talks about it and then there are discussions that follow
http://www.misticriver.net/boards/archive/index.php/t-11717.html
The 12th post down by user ‘estat’ tells you how to convert the .aa format to mp3 and all the programs that you need to get.
There are 2 programs you need:
Graphedit (http://www.digital-digest.com/dvd/downloads/showsoftware_graphedit_141.html)
Goldwave (http://www.goldwave.com/release.php)
This should point you all in the right direction. I have really enjoyed being able to freely transport and play my audio books on any player. The process to convert takes some time and might seem complex, but it is really simple once you download and try it once. I have a computer at work that I work at all day long so I can just let the whole thing run in the background and not baby sit it too much. Enjoy. If you want more instructions you can email me: nwhiatt@gmail.com - Angmar, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0ajb2015, convert the wma file to MP3 like nwhiatt said. Then convert the file to acc. After that change the type of the file to m4b (similar to *.aa) instead of m4a. THis only works for windows though.
- immortalize, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0What a great freakin' link -- thanks a ton!
- nwhiatt, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I just created an account:
User Name: LogMeIn
Password: password - orlanth, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0That share account will only let you browse, yes? It's still limited to 5 downloads per 3 weeks, yes?
- Urgo, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Took over 18 hours to convert, but now I can listen to Angels & Demons on my Archos in my car (thanks to muvaudio). Not a great selection of books on the site, but they had the exact one I was looking for so yay! :)
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0If anyone has a surefire way of getting into a website, let us know pleaseeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee.
I'm still trying to log on with above methods.
thanks - ChiefIcaroc, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Good call on the muvaudio. That is totally awesome. Everyone should check out the Pimsleur language learning courses. Those Cd's are usually really expensive. Hopefully our little digg doesn't make them pull the service. I like free stuff... Learning German on the iPod... A beautiful thing.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Props to nickster for digging this.
And to nwhiatt for http://www.muvaudio.com/
Downloaded a book with Firefox no problem.
Used muvaudio to convert it to .MP4 then changed the extension to .M4B
Now I've got a free audio book for my iPod...
Thanks guys.
Think I'll go check out another. - ekmo, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I tried opening the page with Firefox through the library's site and it wouldn't work until I used "IE". Has anyone else had this problem?
- ajb2015, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Good digg thanks. Screw audible. But uh yeah, does anyone know of anyway to convert to audible's "*.aa" format? It'd be nice not to have to find my place every time.
- unknown243, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0how do u register for NetLibrary?!?! anyone have a username n pass i could use???
- justice, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0for anyone wishing to bipass wma protections and rights go to tunebite.com and download it then email me at bennycassiday@yahoo.com for the registration number.
- darkalias4747, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0i know that no one has used this comment thing in a while, but i stumbled upon it trying to find an audio book for free. i go to this site and log in and all, but every time i search for any book, its not there. anyone know why?
- Faster, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I just noticed this thread, and have a little comment to make regarding MuvAudio.
I used this tool, till a few days ago, when I found a tool that really made my day. It works on the same priciple as MuvAudio, removing DRM protection, but it does this conversion up to 4 times faster, then realtime recording, this of course depending on how fast is your PC.
Although it's a bit late, considering the date of your posts, I guess that when you have to convert a 12 hour book, it helps to make it 4 times faster :P
Anyway, here's the link:
www.tunebite.com - soulchild, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0it says go to the bottom of the pg and click on net library but i cant find it
- ilovesnoopers, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Yeah, I can't find the thing that says, "net library". Help plz!
- j_usage, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Still unable to log in, even with above username & password, and with different browsers.
- OpieGray, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Yeah, does anyone have a working login, or a link to where we can make an account??
- DiscGolfer, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0How about a link to the Create Free Account page? Then we can all stop complaining :)
- Antaries, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0There is a program called "Ease Audio Converter" It takes time but it will convert so you don't have to worry about DRM.
- Urgo, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Ah damn my account was closed as well. Glad I de-drm'd the book I downloaded already.
