- rm999, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3im happy that digg is not going to grow or change too fast. Almost everything that grows really fast ends up dying because it couldn't handle the growth.
Imagine what it would be like if there were 1000s of comments on each story, and 1000s of diggs to get to the front page. Comments would be a mess and the stories would be homogenized like the mass media. - reaver, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1"Its really cool when you like a site that only a few people know about, like digg was a couple months ago, but now its becoming too mainstream..."
That's a horrible attitude. So you only enjoy something if other people don't know about it? So you don't like google? This is why most people switch to Linux too, to be different because they think they're better than everyone.
And how the ***** does it sound like Digg is selling out? Because they're getting popular? You guys are idiots. - SuperCujo, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1"Just what we need all those damn articles in Forbes, and other non-tech related sites/articles showing up on digg thanks to their digg this story button."
Digg may have been just a technology news site in the past. In the future it will become an all-encompassing news site. I think instead of going to digg.com, props to slashdot, you would go to tech.digg.com, finance.digg.com or world.digg.com.
What I woiuld like to see is pr0n.digg.com, where the highest quality pr0n is easily accessible :)

I really hope the digg team are working on a way to solve the potential issue of spaghetti comments. Even now on the more popular stories the comments are beginning to become a mess. Some sort of threading or similar is needed here. - wvstephens, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1
"interested in placing a Digg this story button."
Just what we need all those damn articles in Forbes, and other non-tech related sites/articles showing up on digg thanks to their digg this story button. - robweber, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1"Its really cool when you like a site that only a few people know about, like digg was a couple months ago, but now its becoming too mainstream..."
that's a dumb attitude. "i only like things that no one else really knows about, so as soon as it's popular i don't like it". i've heard lots of people make stupid arguments like that before. i once heard a guy say he wasn't going to watch a movie, that he thought was going to be good, because he thought it was too popular right now. if you like something, use it. it shouldn't matter how popular it has become. - Aard88, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1If Kevin and the gang will hold out one more year they can cash out for the billions some of these other "content providers" get. To the person who lamented stories with 1000's of diggs and 1000's of comments, welcome to the present. Those stories are here now, and will only increase. Some type of threaded comments will have to be introduced. I am sure the people who care about Digg are working on that now.
Digg will evolve into a general news site. We are actually there now. Just put a couple more categories in and there you have it. Then no one can complain about "it's not tech related" boo hoo - treytech, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Its really cool when you like a site that only a few people know about, like digg was a couple months ago, but now its becoming too mainstream...
- jesusphreak, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Well, sounds like Digg is selling out.
- Rocketgeek, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0This is excellent news. Taking any venture and making it grow is always a heck of an undertaking, and all credit to the Digg Team. The site is so simply laid out, it's just a breeze to read the articles and comments.
- PrometheuZ, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0"Bwhahahaha... guys, it's a web site. A WEB SITE! Let's not get carried away."
It's a website that hopes to generate a profit, which makes it not just a website but a company. :) - DigitalAnarkist, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0"Chief Executive?
Bwhahahaha... guys, it's a web site. A WEB SITE! Let's not get carried away."
What hell are you talking about? All incorporated businesses have a CEO. From the terms of service-- "The webpages available at www.digg.com, and all linked pages ("Site"), are owned and operated by Digg, Inc. ("Digg"), a Delaware corporation." - jestershinra, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0To the guy who commented about "it's just a website"...yeah, worth almost $3 million.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1Chief Executive?
Bwhahahaha... guys, it's a web site. A WEB SITE! Let's not get carried away. - plefno, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0"Any site that has a "Digg this story" button on it SHOULD BE BANNED. It defeats the purpose. The point is that you like something enough to bother putting it on dig, and that should take at least a couple of steps."
I think even if something like a "Digg this story" button was used, you'd still have a to be a member of Digg for it to work. So if random people were clicking it not knowing what it really was, it wouldn't really do anything. - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0rm999, I think you just spelled out how digg will be in a year. It's a non-scalable model
- vermin, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0supercujo, I think the previous posters problem wasn't with digg expanding to new areas, it was with digg partnering with other sites to add 'digg this story' links on the actual sites where the article is. This would have the potential to skew how popular the articles are in favor of those publications that are 'partnered' with digg.
- Tobey, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0He doesn’t have a “dumb attitide” at all, robweber. I totally agree with rm999.
- PhairOh, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0digg has:
Revenues
Expenses
Investors
Employees
Capital
What exactly about digg is it that makes some of you think it is not a company and doesn't deserve an executive hierarchy? - stunder, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I love digg but can't stand Forbes.com their best of the web award is a sham and anyone that recommends bluetie as a mailhost looses all credit in my book. I know more about Forbes.com than I care to waste wind about.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Good stuff.

Google? Amazon? NewEgg? About.com? Yahoo?
Idiot? - jesusphreak, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Lol, billions? No. I think some people really overvalue Digg.
- Harlequn, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0i agree - I dont wany to surf the net and have to stare at fifteen variations on "Digg this story" buttons next to the stories I read.
- jwest84, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0All these comments...
People...
Over reaction would be putting it lightly. - jiminoc, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0"Chief Executive?

"I think even if something like a 'Digg this story' button was used, you'd still have a to be a member of Digg for it to work."
Is that true? I'm not challenging you, I'm sincerely just asking. Because I can totally see them just opening it up for any user on whatever website. "Liked our story? Click this button - trust us - it won't hurt." - Visceral, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0"Chief Executive?

DING! DING!
It's the .com bubble all over again. - jonohull, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0Nothing we didn't know, though.
