- jjct1, on 10/12/2007, -0/+6A better way to do this is with the Nightly Tester Extension. It allows you to individually overide each extension to work with your current Mozilla version:
https://addons.mozilla.org/extensions/moreinfo.php?id=958 - opus20745, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2This story really should be removed... because this is HORRIBLE advice.
That setting is there for a reason. If you want to fix all old extensions temporarily, either hack the individual extension yourself, or get the Nightly Tester Tools extension as mentioned before (just Google for it). Can we please refrain from detrimental "helpful" tips? - shakin, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Extensions not only have a maxVersion property, but also a minVersion property. Since a lot of 1.5-only extensions are coming out now doing this will prevent them from installing.
For instance, Foxpose has a minVersion of 1.4.1 (Deer Park). It won't install once you change the about:config property as described in the posted link. Also, there are some of 1.0.x extensions that won't work in 1.5, which is why the maxVersion property exists in the first place. - seaniz, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Yeah, me too. I don't want to mess around with installing and reinstalling the one version of firefox that works with all the extensions I like.
And I'll wait until the bookmark synchronizer extension supports FF1.5 because that one is essential. - t0dd, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0im with jjct1 - Nightly Tester Tools Extension is better.
- mutant, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0/meh
I'll stick on 1.0.7 till more extensions officially support 1.5. This is just a bandaid that keeps out out of 1.5 extensions. - dan_cameron, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0if you change 1.0 back to 1.5 foxpose [and potentially others] will continue to work and can also look for updates.
Thanks wgc - FlyingLlama, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Now my 1.5 only extensions won't work! :-/

Here is a fixed version of Bookmarksync among others that have been tweaked for FF 1.5 - phuncky, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0How about Themes?
- metalgore32, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Not really a "Hack" but good info anyway
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0worked fine for all extentions here except paste and go. this is most definately a must-digg. thankew.
- hogrod, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0to me it seems this is for testing purposes only. people doing this are also probably the same people complaining about memory leaks, ect.
i use about 20 extensions and none of them don't work. people just click the find updates button and expect everything to get updated. check the homepage of the extension maker or even check at addons.mozilla.org/extensions. you'll be suprised what you can find. - Gollywomp, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Wow, so simple yet so great. +digg
- sammykrupa, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Nice.
- v1kk1, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Not all extensions will work this way: I've had problems with SwitchProxy & CompactMenu after trying this hack.
- hogrod, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0My newest "session saver" extension still doesn't work, anyone can help?!
mine is working fine, i have found a few updates in the comments section of the extensions page. - opus20745, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Actually, the version linked there is old, get it from the source:
http://users.blueprintit.co.uk/~dave/web/firefox/buildid/nightly.html - sillyns, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0This is a lifesaver....
- ccheath, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0not dugg... just get the nightly tester tools extension: https://addons.mozilla.org/extensions/moreinfo.php?id=958
- Jammerdelray, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0one huge problem is if you do this is when you update firefox to a new version firefox will be telling the update server you are using a earlier verion and can really impede updates.
- MikeWeller, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0***** that, they need to make extensions work under a local account in Windows. That is the only reason I don't use Firefox.
- choman, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I have ran into stubborn extensions that will not complete installation or de-installation. So needless to say, my extension manger is looking cluttered. Has anyone else encountered this issue. Also, does anyone know of a good guide to force the removal of such extensions.
- Mongoose, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0This is really helpful. Great digg.
- jwalk81980, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Um... doesn't work. Maybe it's just the extensions I have. Oh well.
- drummerman109, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0WOW, this is AWESOME. works great, now i dont need to wait for people to update their plugins
- cstcy, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0My newest "sessionsaver" extension still doesn't work, anyone can help?!
- dan_cameron, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I really don't think it will mess-up the update system because it is for extensions to verify your version not firefox.
- opus20745, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0UGH... no it's NOT helpful. In fact, as someone pointed out above... it will possibly mess-up your update system.
- Pinoycyberwebs, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Nice source... Did firefox already release the final version? I know their currently on beta version. 1.5 RC?
