- supz, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3Is this the same thing as RC3? My about version reads
Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.8) Gecko/20051111 Firefox/1.5
Which, if I'm not mistaken, was the same exact string as RC3 - 7of7, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2So here's a question...why was this just ***** off the front page?
- Skyhook, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Nope.
ftp.mozilla.org is a round robin, each click goes somewhere else. Most places don't have it yet.
Try this link, it seems to have it. I had to sit and hit reload fifty times to find a box I could get all the way down into
http://manna.mozilla.org/pub/mozilla.org/firefox/releases/1.5/ - 7of7, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2If this kills my computer I swear to god I'll hunt all of you down and force you to browse porn and warez sites through IE.
/just kidding, 1.5 sounds cool - daredevil73, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2yeah -- what's the deal?
- terminalfreeze, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2greivance said "@TerminalFreeze THis is the OFFICIAL site.
Also, Not sure how it works, but the md5sum for RC3 and Final are the exact same."
Ok, let me put it this way, once it's on the front page of mozilla.org, then I will download it. - wolfger, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Not released is not released. Saying it's released because you dug up some directory that says Firefox 1.5 is just not true. No dig for you!
- stalkingu, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2http://ftp.mozilla.org/pub/mozilla.org/firefox/releases/1.5/win32/en-US/ the link for the windows version
- mykmelez, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Instead of hitting ftp.mozilla.org, which isn't designed for such high traffic and is straining under the load (I'm its sysadmin), please hit releases.mozilla.org, which is designed for more capacity:
http://releases.mozilla.org/pub/mozilla.org/firefox/releases/1.5/
Or better yet, wait an hour or two for Mozilla to officially release it, then click the link on its websit, which hits a load director designed for even more capacity. - BigDumbGuy, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Supz, yeah, what a let down: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.8) Gecko/20051111 Firefox/1.5 ID:2005111116. How is this not RC3?
- undauntedspirit, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Wonder how many servers will catch on fire by the end of today??
- 2000, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Windows release: http://download.mozilla.org/?product=firefox-1.5&os=win&lang=en-US
May work for other OSes: http://download.mozilla.org/?product=firefox-1.5 - nihilator, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Will Firefox's built-in update check work for this? Or do I have to d/l and install over the old version?
- Webjunkie, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Help -> Release Notes = RC3
- Nuknuk, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Installed and uninstalled. Too raw. Sure it much faster. Some extensions does not work. You cannot save as media from via View Page Info.
- terminalfreeze, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I don't download ANYTHING that's not from the official site.
- jinexile, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1If you have RC3 there is no point in downloading this, as RC3 IS the release. That's how the release candidate process works.
- greivance, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1@TerminalFreeze THis is the OFFICIAL site.
Also, Not sure how it works, but the md5sum for RC3 and Final are the exact same. - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1This is Final version, it's the same as RC3, because final version is just renamed rc3, because no more critical complains was about RC3 version, that was written on one of mozilla page, don't remember now.
- op12, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Have they improved the startup time? One of my biggest gripes. I tried a couple of "optimizations" but they were usually accompanied by bugs of their own, so hopefully the new version loads quicker.
- neogeek0101, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Like trqy said, here are md5 file hashes of rc3 and the latest download:
Firefox Setup 1.5rc3.exe: d0cbbd5d8c47fe36ee8f26fb1255838c
Firefox Setup 1.5.exe: d0cbbd5d8c47fe36ee8f26fb1255838c - mooninite, on 10/12/2007, -0/+07of7, if you had the RC3 release then your system is the problem. RC3 and this version are exactly the same byte for byte.
- 7of7, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Nope, no RC3, just upgraded from 1.07.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0"So why hasn't anyone heard of it yet? This IS the offical release on the server."
who looks through ftps? - terminalfreeze, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Blackwolf? Is that you??
- undauntedspirit, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Agreed.
- 7of7, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0This had better not be the final release, I've had it for all of 30 minutes and it's frozen up 5 times.
- Hoss, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Still a memory hogg! 1.5 is even worse as it doesn't even free up the 100+ megs it can reach after being minimized. (view some flash pages to really see the memory climb)
Opera never goes over 50 mb of memory for me no matter how many tabs I open. - fratandtonic, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0to people saying that sites aren't displaying right, turn off the Obj-Tabs in the preferences for Adblock, or get Adblock Plus, the developer hasn't bothered to fix this since RC1, same with some extensions that haven't been working, it's not firefox's problem if an extension broke, they've given plenty of time for developers to fix them up on their own.
- Dolemack, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I'm a dork. I am waiting until it is on Mozilla.org.
- 0n7R, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0it is already crashed 3 times (when I browse the program menus!
I hope this is RC3, but the on the ftp site the folder was created today:
[DIR] 1.5/ 29-Nov-2005 20:13 -
BTW, I am new here but I do not understand censoring this from frontpage.... /. - diggnationdevon, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0The fox has returned... lol
- BigTuna, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0TerminalFreeze said "Ok, let me put it this way, once it's on the front page of mozilla.org, then I will download it."
Agreed. I'm all for waiting for the official word on the mozilla.org web site. When I see a banner that says "Download v1.5 Here", then I'll grab it. I can wait another hour or two. It isn't going anywhere. - TheAttacks, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0"If this kills my computer I swear to god I'll hunt all of you down and force you to browse porn and warez sites through IE.
/just kidding, 1.5 sounds coo"
LMAO. I'm downloading right now for Linux, hope it's a good investment. - undauntedspirit, on 10/12/2007, -0/+07of7 -- I'm honestly not flaming, but if it's frozen 5 times in 30 minutes your computer has got problems.... Overheating etc...
If you didn't install it in a new profile I'd at least try that. - scotty588, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Suppose to be officially released at 12pm PST which is in 5 minutes.
- MacHarborGuy, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0every Mac I have installed any of the RC's of Firefox on, EBay's website is amazingly broken. No images load, the logo doesn't appear, the main navigation screws up. It's like it isn't loading any references files (css, images, javascript, etc). Same goes with the 1.5 release.
Release candidates my ass, the mac version may have a great speed up, but if sites don't load properly, what is the point?
no digg - trqy, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Ooh guys come on this IS absolutely RC3! There was a rumor early this morning (maybe before or later) that the v1.5 final'll be released. If there is a real 1.5 released already, that's sure this is not that one.
"md5 way" never fails.. - craterburnsu, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0checking the update function in firefox says no updates.. so I'm not trusting this. Even if it is from their servers, if the update feature can't find it, it isn't official yet.
- Slammer64, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Yes, it is TerminalFreeze, how kind of you to notice that.
- erraggy, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0love it love it
LOVE IT!!!!
Thanks for lookin' out daredevil73 - shiftless, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0How about a torrent?
- Jacob, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I got it on the first try, how did that work out lol.
- angelschambers, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1What I wanna know is, when will firefox be coming out with a gaming console!
- GarySZ, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I'm with you, Goatweed. As anxious as I am to try it out - I need my FoxyTunes (and other) extensions to work before I make the leap... cool that it's out though - I imagine it'll only be a short time before the extensions I need are updated.
- BlackWolf7, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Sweet
- kreativemind, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Geez, i should have used the "check spelling" buttom before posting - oh well, back to installing 1.5 =)
- kreativemind, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Extra Extra - get 'em why it's hot! - i got mine =)
- grendel, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0now i wonder how many extensions will crash with this upgrade?
